    [UK] 2024.8.x

To be fair, some of the M40 verges are rather lovely.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Are people driving all the time with high beam on and letting them adapt? Almost never use high beam so it’ll take some adjustment.

    Proximity sensor playing up

You can leave the service menu on while driving. It’s what the mobile tech did to help diagnose a similar issue with mine. In my case it turned out to be a spider living behind the numberplate spinning a web across the sensor. Each time I cleaned it, unbeknownst to me the little sod would pop...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

In the Audi the lights come on automatically and do their thing without any intervention. It appears with Tesla you need to put them in high beam each time manually. Seems very un-Musk like. We’ll see.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

It does seem only to be a half implementation if only for high beam. I wonder why not fully adaptive like most cars that have the feature.

    Parking sensor detecting non-existent object

Remove the stupidly ugly license plate holder that it calls home and retire them both to the garden. Meanwhile I can have a better looking car with a flush mount license and no freeloaders.

    Parking sensor detecting non-existent object

So who’s up for a good laugh? Finally reported it to Tesla, who sent out a mobile tech. Turns out there is a spider living behind the license plate that’s coming out and spinning a web across to nearest sensor after every time I clean it. 🤣

    Parking sensor detecting non-existent object

To add. I’ve not had these problems for the last 2 1/2 years, just the last few weeks. I can’t remember if it started after the last software update or not.

    Parking sensor detecting non-existent object

Recently, although I can’t remember if it coincides with the last software update (2023.44.30.9) whenever I drive slowly I’m getting multiple bongs from the front left parking sensor as it thinks something is close by. I get the red line and “stop”. Service menu shows no faults. Inspected them...

    OEM apps

We have a Peugeot e-2008 and yes, the app is truly an abomination. It’s ugly, unintuitive, buggy, slow and only works about 20% of the time. While we’re at it, firmware updates are also really primitive. There are three kinds - infotainment, navigation and car. The former two involve download...

    So… Highland is out…

What a ridiculous statement. Efficiency is pretty much top of everyone’s list, even if they only know it as “what’s the cheapest to run for the biggest range”. Currently, legacy manufacturers are simply bunging in a huge battery to compensate for the inadequacies of their drivetrain. As the...

M3 LR Nearly New - Residual Values

Quite. It’s a car, not an investment. Anything greater than zero when I sell and I’ll be happy. That’ll be less than if I had leased at the time.

    So… Highland is out…

You’re right of course, I forgot about those pesky foreign kilometres.

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

We did. We just let you think you did. 🤪
  21. page3

    So… Highland is out…

No, less acceleration than the previous RWD and considerably less than the SR+ I still think it’s a great refresh though.
  22. page3

    So… Highland is out…

Biggest change…… reduction in performance of RWD yet again.
  23. page3

    So… Highland is out…

Looks like the mild refresh we were expecting. RWD is slower yet again.

    Octopus Go Deal

We moved from Go to Tracker and save a fair bit. It does seem strange charging whenever we like, but it appears off-peak tariffs have lost any advantage for a normal (no solar or battery) user.

    S3XY knob anyone?

I agree. It looks really quite cool and clearly well thought out and designed. Except I can’t help but feel I’ll never use it.

Holiday on the Isle of Wight - first time using public charging points!

A lot of the destination chargers seem out of order or removed. Used to charge at the Garlic Farm, Brading Roman Villa and Cow Co Tapnel farm. Definitely staying somewhere that allows granny charging is the answer. A hub somewhere like Newport would be a great idea and would serve the whole...

Occasional ‘crack’ sound after engaging drive

Problem still there. Only during summer months. Only a single “crack” within a few minutes of setting off. It’s like an old friend.

Recommendations for Model 3 roof sun shades

I have the Temai ones. They’re very good. The biggest difference they make is to the audio sound, and for that alone they’re worth it.

Do you find police are interested in sentry videos?

They were interested when I reported a vehicle driving the wrong way along the A40. I had a follow-up call a few weeks later once they had tracked down the driver.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

The two at Fully Charged certainly weren’t well built or cheap. Added to which they were hideous inside - throw multiple designs in to a blender and see what sticks. The Korean stuff was leagues ahead. Ioniq 6 would be a pretty good S alternative.

    For Octopus customers

So if I understand it correctly, the tracker rate is a monthly average of all the daily rates for that month so one could be caught out by high fluctuating rates. Historically though it does appear to be cheaper, at least for gas which is what I’m thinking of changing to. Decisions, decisions.

    [UK] Price cuts

They haven’t crashed. They’ve only now increased by around £2K year on year. People seem to have short memories. Tesla pricing is like Amazon. They move frequently, and a bargain reduction may end up being nothing of the sort.
  43. page3

    [UK] Price cuts

It’s like Amazon pricing, a reduction that isn’t actually one seeing as the price was increased dramatically over a short space of time. Still 2K more than the SR+ (performance) model was 12 months ago.

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Valid point, but I was keeping it simple on purpose. Having spent over £40K on a car I find it best not to think about it too much! :)

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

I was going to lease. Let’s say 6x48 at a ballpark figure of £500 month. That’s £27,000. Purchased instead for £41,000. So after four years anything over £14,000 is a win. 🤡

    Key fob availability?

I’m just surprised people still feel the need to carry a phone when their watch does the same thing. A house key is easily forgotten, a key on a fob less so, especially if that fob serves a purpose too. We’re all different. There can be more than one solution.
