Model 3 wheel fitments now available !

We are happy to announce we now have (Guaranteed) wheel fitments for the new Model 3 ! We were not able to find any 17" wheels for a "minus size" for Winter, but have plenty of options from 18" up to 20" wheels with the appropriate tire sizes. Feel free to enter your specific model and trim...

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

255/35R19 is almost 2" smaller in diameter than OE, so I'd be concerned that the car's electronic would not be happy.
  3. D

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

I was under h I've not seen any info from Michelin on this, but my impression is that the noise levels are measured from Outside the vehicle.
  4. D

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

We are not expecting any Acoustic tires in 245/40R20 or 245/45R19 at all. Sorry !

Vendor Tire Rack announces Closeout Pricing on Axis Allies wheels (21"x9')

The two models are similar, but Model 2 uses the OE Tesla center cap. Moving forward, the Model 2 (Matte Graphite Silver only) will still be stocked due to this feature.

Vendor Tire Rack announces Closeout Pricing on Axis Allies wheels (21"x9')

We still have some supply in most diameters and finishes, but I'd ask that you call in with the wheel size and finish needed so I can double check

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

Well, all I can say is that you would not be able to return anything once they have been damaged or driven on........If you were to test fit them and they looked "too close for comfort", you could return the items for a partial credit (you would be responsible for all shipping charges as well as...

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

We will have to patiently wait for a Model 3 to make its way to Indiana for evaluation and measurement. I'd like to think that Model 3 will use the same 5x120 bolt pattern and 64mm centerbore that Model S and Model X currently have, but we won't be able to even guess at backspacing / offset...

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

Both the Acoustic and "standard" Super Sports are Backordered at this time, with no new inventory expected to arrive for at least 10 weeks (my best guess)............
  11. D

Vendor Tire Rack announces Closeout Pricing on Axis Allies wheels (21"x9')

The 21" version does not have sufficient load capacity to work on the Model X, just the Model S. That is why we don't list the wheel under your vehicle information. Sorry !

Vendor Tire Rack announces Closeout Pricing on Axis Allies wheels (21"x9')

Available in both in a Machined with Matte Graphite Accents OR a Matte Graphite finish, the 21"x 9" Axis Allies has been marked down for Closeout. To be sure, this model (along with the Axis MS) have been very durable and of the best quality we have seen, but the 21" fitment has not been as...
  13. D

Vendor The Tire Rack and Axis wheels bring you the new Model MS in 21" !

OK, quick update.. Tire Rack has marked down the 21x9 (Black with Machined Face, Bright Silver and Titanium Gunmetal finishes) and 21x10 (Titanium Gunmetal only) for Clearance. I'll stress that the durability of the wheels has been great, but we are just moving away from the 21" diameter as a...

New tire time - anything quieter than the Michelin Primacy for 19"s?

While we haven't payed much attention to the Primacy of late (as it is pretty much used as an OE tire only, and last tested in 2010), I can say that the Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS Plus (https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=Cinturato+P7+All+Season+Plus&affiliate=JQ*)...

Vendor First Look: Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+

Sadly, we have been told no plans are in place for the AS3+ to be manufactured ( in 245/35R21) at any point next year. We do not expect any "all season" options for 245/35R21 from any of our vendors in 2017.

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

We have seen more than a few issues with snow tires (not just Michelin) rubbing on the front (inner) plastic fender liners at the small louvered vents. I have been told that folks are using a high temperature heat gun to warm the plastic and coax it away from the area of interference.
  22. D

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

We are sold out of the rear tire size, with no firm ETA before the end of the year. Sorry !
  23. D

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

You could have either the Pilot Super Sport Acoustic or the Continental SportContact5 with ContiSilent technology (which has been used as OE since 2013)
  24. D

Vendor Michelin offers the new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic in 21" sizes !

We have limited stock right now in our Indiana warehouse only, but once this batch is sold out we do not expect replacement inventory until next year. The Pilot Super Sport is not available in the rear 265/35R21 size for comparison , but the Acoustic tire is approximately 23% more expensive...

Sadly, we do not show any other sizes in the pipeline (at least for the remainder of this year).

We are excited to get our first allotment of Michelin's new Pilot Super Sport Acoustic tire in both 245/35R21 and 265/35R21 sizes. (No work on when we will see the tire in 245/45R19, sorry). Michelin has developed a custom designed polyurethane foam that adheres to the inner shell of the tire...

  29. D

Vendor The Tire Rack and Axis wheels bring you the new Model MS in 21" !

For the 20x9" wheel, the 245/40R20 size where you need to be. As mentioned above, either the Continental or the new BF Goodrich GForce Comp2 A/S are good handling (but all season capable) options
  30. D

Vendor First Look: Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+

I'd agree with Kort, even with very regular rotation and proper alignment 35K is about the upper limit of (wet) capability for both the Cinturato and the Primacy. In dry conditions you could stretch to close to 40K or so.

Vendor The Tire Rack and Axis wheels bring you the new Model MS in 21" !

Piney, while we do not have any discounts for wheels and tires when purchased together we always offer free Road Force balancing with every order.

Vendor First Look: Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+

Michelin_hero by doc@tirerack posted Apr 12, 2016 at 1:15 PM I was lucky enough to get one of the first drives on the new Pilot Sport AS3+ through the foothills of Red Rocks Canyon as well as some (all too short) track time at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch about an hour away from Las Vegas...

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

To be clear, it is Tire Rack's opinion that the OE sensors should not be used in the Lugano. The body of the OE sensor has small "feet" that extend down from the sensor body, and those feet will touch the wheel's drop center before the valve stem seal is flat against the valve hole / opening...

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

Sorry for the error, this is the first time I've seen this pop up. I'll get that fixed ASAP. - - - Updated - - - The stock tire (245/45R19) can fit any wheel between 7.5" and 9.00" wide, and the Rial Lugano is right in the sweet sport at 8.5" wide. The OE tire can be transferred safely.
  35. D

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

We always give the customer an "opt out" on the sensors if you want to get them locally; We can leave the wheels in their shipping boxes and keep the tires loose for assembly on your end, or install standard (rubber) stems and mount and RoadForce balance at no charge prior to shipping...

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

All the Lugano wheels are hub centric (no centering rings required) and accept the OE Tire Pressure Sensor, so other than the extra machining step used to make the wheel accept the Tesla cap they are identical. I can't speak for Tesla, but I'm not sure if they have an issue with either wheel...
  37. D

Vendor Rial Lugano "Tesla Turbine" 19x8.5" wheels now accept your Tesla center caps

The Lugano model that accepts the OE cap is out of stock until March, but the "standard" model that comes with a Rial cap (different diameter) is in stock to be sure. We still have plenty of XIce tires in stock in 245/45R19

    Question on TPMS

For the 2014 model, Tesla switched from BAO to Continental as the manufacturer for their TPMS sensors (starting with VIN 60000). All subsequent cars use the Continental sensor (which we stock for $65 each as of the time of this post)

Anyone tried Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires?

The ExtremeContact DWS06 came to us earlier this year, and fared very well in our test (see results here). To be sure, we have not had any time with the tire in snowy conditions but Conti PROMISED us that the new DWS06 will have the same light snow capacity that its predecessor relied upon to...

Tire slowly losing pressure with TMPS warning ... any gueses?

Agreed, really need to get that patch on the inside ! The plug should only be there to keep moisture and debris out of the steel belts.

  44. D

Vendor The Tire Rack and Axis wheels bring you the new Model MS in 21" !

    1. There is a way to reset the sensors from your touch screen if you'd like. 2. The tire would have 1/4" less "protruding" sidewall beyond the face of the wheel at worst, but yes I suppose you would be a slightly higher risk of damage from curbs. 3. Directional tires can be rotated from front...

Bronze Model S spotted in St. Topez

Took a couple quick pictures of this beauty parked in amongst the Holiday crowd; "Avant Garde" 22" staggered wheels (295/25R22 rear and 245/30R22 front)......to be clear the front tires have 1 lb. of excess capacity over the GAWR, so you'd have to be very diligent about maintaining your air...
