New J1772 Wall Connector Installed, may have made the wrong decision

So one thing to remember with the adapter is you have to make sure the charge port light is glowing white. This means the port is unlocked. So my routine on the Juicebox typically is: 1) press and release the unlock button on the charger plug 2) push gently on the plug back in to make sure...

CCS - buy now or wait?

Good question, and not that I'm seeing what pin a thermistor would connect to anywhere anywhere. I did find the specs of a CCS1 plug you could buy, and it included a pt1000 style temperature sensor. It could just be breaking / disconnecting the prox pin?
  3. boingolover

CCS - buy now or wait?

I think the most interesting bit of that is: There is a provision for a temperature sensor in the ccs1 connector. It entirely possible - likely even - that this adapter is still passive and just passing along temperature readings via the sensor, and Tesla is doing the throttling based on...

2021 MYP Unable to AC charge

So in my unprofessional opinion it's probably your charge port ecu and you're going to need to do a service ticket, but I'm really curious if your car would charge successfully on another 40 or 48A L2 charger.

    Leviton 14-50 Works, Bryant 14-50 Doesn't - Same Wiring

Bryant and Hubbel are the made by the same company? I do have to wonder if there might be some counterfeits floating around though. I bought a Bryant from Grainger and it's been rock solid.

2021 MYP Unable to AC charge

What amps does the Leaf charge at? I would guess 32A or so? what is your Wallbox set up for? I assume 40 or 48? That is possibly one difference. However, in your other thread you mentioned another model Y came over and charged successfully with your wallbox at your home? And your car...

2021 MYP Unable to AC charge

Our electric company doesn't change rates based on peak times either. But I have switched to scheduled charging before going on a trip so that the car is at 100% before we depart in the morning, and after returning home it took me a second to figure out why it wasn't charging after plugging...
  8. boingolover

2021 MYP Unable to AC charge

Is it possible you have scheduled charging enabled? Scheduled charger is location based, which would be a possible explanation for you being able to charge at work but it stops charging at home, and why your EVSE charges another car (the Leaf). Just a stab in the dark.

    Charging equipment not recognized

Well that's useful information. So has your mobile connector ever worked? Did you happen to see if your mobile connector worked on the neighbor's 14-50 plug - assuming that's what they're using?

    Charging equipment not recognized

Do you have a friend nearby with an EVSE? Might be good to rule out the mobile connector.

Supercharger - Chattanooga, TN - Hamilton Place

We used this supercharger twice several weeks ago, on the way to and coming back from blue ridge. It's a really nice location!

    Woo! I ordered one today.

Juicebox not charging new Model Y

I think we're basically saying the same thing, either way I'm agreeing with you. It's possible the Y is revealing a problem that's been there all along, but the built-in bmw charger wasn't thirsty enough to stress the circuit. At any rate, I suspect we'll never determine if the OP got this...

Juicebox not charging new Model Y

Several things here: You can absolutely set the charge limit with a non-wifi juicebox: https://support-emobility.enelx.com/hc/en-us/articles/212280768-JuiceBox-Classic-Non-Networked- There is a trim pot inside. Second, the charging speed negotiated by your Prius Prime has nothing to do with...

Juicebox not charging new Model Y

I'd contact Juicebox support, even though you're well outside of warranty I bet they'd have some troubleshooting tips at least. We charge our Y daily with a Juicebox 40, though a newer revision (2021 model).

    CCS Adapter - ?

Lol. By the time the session ended it cost about $15 using the guest rate going from 22% to 70%. We did a similar session at a supercharger earlier in the day and it was also about $15. The member rate is cheaper, and if I used it at least once a month it would make sense to pay the $4 monthly...

    CCS Adapter - ?

So I finally managed to do my first test today at close to "ideal" conditions, peaked at 182kw, but by the time I got my phone out to take a pic it had dipped to 181. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with these speeds :)

    CCS Adapter - ?

Apparently S3XY buttons have a precondition feature in beta, which has pretty much pushed me over the fence towards getting some as soon as that feature is released.

    CCS Adapter - ?

It's neat to see that the official US launch has lowered the prices across the board. I was considering a Harumio import but was kicking myself for waiting too long when that all dried up, so I decided not to make that same mistake once the official adapter launched. So I took a small gamble...

    CCS Adapter - ?

That's a really great list! I had no idea there were so many third party options at this point.

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

If you have a local friend with an eligible Tesla in their account - or an ineligible one and a willingness to un-disable the add to cart button - you could have them order it for you. It doesn't seem to be limiting the total number you can order as long as you only do one adapter per order...

    CCS Adapter - ?

So previously the Tesla shop page informed me (correctly) that my car required a retrofit in order to use the CCS adapter, but now since doing the update it's showing it's compatible: This confirms what some others have stated, that Tesla detects the actual status of the CCS compatibility...

    CCS Adapter - ?

Tax will depend on the state / county etc, but $140 was the price before tax, $153.65 out the door here in Brentwood TN (9.75% sales tax). Worked for me. As far as I know, that's the only way to order the part from Tesla, though in my case I initially opened a service ticket in the app and...

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

So my local service center had a gen 4 charge port ecu (1537264-00-B) in stock, picked that up today. So with any luck I'll have CCS by next weekend's planned road trip !
  25. boingolover

    CCS Adapter - ?

So i'm not sure if ECU's are just a lot easier to come by these days, or I just got very lucky, but I managed to score a gen 4 ECU (1537264-00-B) at the service center today. It was in stock!

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

So apparently you can add a CCS adapter to your cart by using your browser's developer tools, inspecting the grayed out button, and deleting the disabled="disabled" bit. Well, I managed to order one at any rate. Here's hoping they don't cancel it :) Also here's hoping I can get an ECU.
  27. boingolover

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Yeah, there was a chip shortage, so some cars got the stripped ECU and others didn't, sometimes cars delivered the same week will be different in whether or not they support CCS. So it was very much a crapshoot for some months. Also interesting that there are two retrofit part numbers that...

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Ours isn't compatible, and we took delivery in early November of 2021. It's a crap shoot.
  29. boingolover

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Yes, I did log in with primary. The message changed to indicate that I'd require a retrofit (versus no delivered cars in your account), so I suspect they've been tweaking the order page as they go along.
  30. boingolover

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Yeah, the verbiage on the order page updated to say I will require a retrofit. Now the followup question is: are they doing this by VIN, or are they doing it by what your car is reporting to the mothership? I.E., if I bought a non-stripped charge ECU, swapped it in, would it let me order?
  31. boingolover

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

So interestingly, when I log into the shop it won't let me order one. It says "no delivered cars in your account". I wonder if this is because our late 2021 Y was delivered with a stripped ECU? IOW, we do show that we don't have the CCS compatibility enabled. Kind of bummed I can't order...

cabin filter replacement, question about Bioweapon Defense Mode

So as I understand it, al model Y's have two cabin air filters located in front of the coils. Ours is a late 2021 model with the Bioweapon Defense mode as well. I bought some Breath Easy filters from Amazon, along with a couple cans of Kool-It to clean the coils. We have a bit of a smell and...

Supercharger - Lexington, KY - Meijer Way

I'm really excited for this location. I drive up from Nashville to visit family in the Ashland KY area regularly. I use the Bluegrass Parkway, so that has me coming in from the southwest side of town. This new location will be even more convenient than the existing V2, and there are some...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

For what it's worth, the Eaton / Cooper 5754N is good for aluminum or copper wire and is an industrial rated outlet. It's also significantly cheaper than hubbell / bryant outlets, and easier to find. Eaton owns Cooper, and they don't seem to brand the 5754N as a Cooper anymore, but the Eaton...

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

Service mode shouldn't be a problem, I live 5 miles from an SC, I was just curious about the process. First I have to find an ECU!
  38. boingolover

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

So sorry if this has been covered already, but for newer cars with the "stripped" ECU, after doing the ECU swap do you still need to put it in service mode?
  39. boingolover

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

I'm pretty sure it is indeed 3d printed, I can see what looks like "banding" on the sides, like it was printed in layers. That said, nothing really wrong with that, but absolutely the official Korean unit looks much better made.
  40. boingolover

    Current Delivery Times

Yes, it started showing up in 2020. But a lot of 2021 cars don't have it, includling my October 2021 build. So if / when the adapter is available, I'm going to at least file a ticket and try to get Tesla to install the missing chips to make mine complete.
  41. boingolover

    Current Delivery Times

So I'm curious for any newer delivereries, if you go into the Software menu, Click on Additional Software Information, do you show CSS Adapter Support enabled? Or does it say Not Installed? Ours shows Not Installed, but apparently some people are showing as Enabled.

It will probably take them all of 5 minutes. It's possible the clips are present, they friction fit against tabs on the trim piece itself, and the clips then fit into slots in the console. But it has to be lined up in just one way, and it's a lot easier to see if you pop both sides loose and...

    Current Delivery Times

It is held in with clips in both sides. At least it should be. I know this because under that trim piece lies a plug that can be tapped to get an OBD plug for use with scanmytesla / tea-lax scan tools :) the clips are pretty fiddly.
