    TeslaMate [megathread]

I don't see a TZ line. Does your yml look like this including spaces and hyphens (formatting)? Some parsers are fiddly. If it does perhaps the TZ has some non-printing characters. Try replacing that line. environment: - ENCRYPTION_KEY= - DATABASE_USER=teslamate -...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I don't see anything about the timezone except a notice that tzdata was updated. I don't know how often logs are rotated but mine haven't since restart on 2-Feb.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I often get the wrong ETA when topping off for scheduled departure although not multiple hours.
  5. B

    TeslaMate [megathread]

My Home display was correct this morning. Well the ETA was off but it was the correct timezone. That doesn't point to a generic bug.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I'd start a discussion or open a ticket if it's just one page/dashboard. If all the pages were wrong I'd suspect some cofig error but just one page (or portion) being wrong suggests a bug to me. I'm curious though, which page are you looking at?

    TeslaMate [megathread]

If you use Docker the timezone is set in docker-compose.yml. environment: ... - TZ=America/New_York Are all of the Grafana pages wrong too? If not perhaps it's a bug.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

The current version is 1.28.3 and the previous was 1.28.2. You can certainly go back to an earlier version but recent updates have been critical. You can see the version number on the settings page. E.g.: Version 1.28.3...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

If you restart TeslaMate (or its container if you use one) or the system it's running on it may not restart without the update. This update doesn't use the new Fleet API but the start-up has changed. This is similar to the last Tesla-side update that broke TeslaMate. If it's not an issue (for...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I successfully updated an instance to 1.28.3. I'm getting updated web pages but logging is suspended and the 1.28.3 instance reports that the vehicle was offline for 12 minutes but online now. I'm still thinking about spinning up fresh instance to see if that still works.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I think there are other benefits to TeslaMate given the alternatives (e.g. TeslaFi or TeslaScope). Also SaaS doesn't mean the data belongs to the hosting entity. I assume the TeslaMate data I have accumulating at Linode/Cloudflare is still mine because they don't have a policy that says all...

Have you reviewed the the Github comments and the Tesla developer documents? TeslaMate [megathread]

I'm looking for a replacement for TESLAMATE (TM) since I think the old API will stop working any time now. I'd like to import my data (from TM or TeslaFi) but so far I've only found (partial) data import in Tessie. Of course neither TeslaFi or Tessie are particularly good replacements for Teslamate

My (very) bad. This is really a shame but at least if your key is exposed it's not like your Tesla account is exposed. Still pranks like opening the hatch, unlocking the doors, interrupting charging or running the HVAC at some extreme set-point are annoying at best.

    TeslaMate [megathread]

My incomplete understanding is that all of the tools (e.g. tesla_auth) generate streaming only keys and that you have to provide your credentials to get a key to send commands. My original post was "wrong" because products use either your credentials (which they claim to keep safe or discard) or...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

For current products control is gated by the key type. Teslamate can use the read-only key. Sadly (and for no good reason) most products want read-write access. As an example Teslafi will accept either key and if you provide a read-write key it will provide some control features.

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

The 19" iONs on our MY have just finished the first bit of breaking in at 677 miles. My spouse does the driving and says they're quieter except when they're not (like when driving over a clump of road salt) and feel a bit stiff when cold. Mostly the same as the Continentals. It's too early to...

Tire Rotation NOT necessary if tread wear is even?

I have a spare since my car finds itself in isolated areas on occasion. It's in the car when a trip to the boondocks (or maybe Discount Tires) is required.
  29. B

Tire Rotation NOT necessary if tread wear is even?

Sounds like a scam but do you think they would have mounted a spare?
  30. B

Tire Rotation NOT necessary if tread wear is even?

I was concerned about uneven wear so I went in for a check at 16 months. They told me it was nearly perfect so they made it be perfect.

Tire Rotation NOT necessary if tread wear is even?

What does maintain them properly mean?
  32. B

Tire Rotation NOT necessary if tread wear is even?

I know this is an old thread but: as noted the service person was wrong. Also it turns out it's tricky to measure tread depth. I've tried those little color coded checkers but they're worthless. I've also taken wheels off and checked with my shop calipers/depth gauge. Last time, because it...

    Model Y tire rotation schedule

When I've had tires rotated (because it was free) they didn't ask, they just did the TRA recommended pattern. The place I normally frequent has a TRA rotation chart on the wall.
  34. B

    Model Y tire rotation schedule

Tesla (probably like everyone) is using the tire and rim association (TRA) numbers. The mobile service person told me they cross rotate per TRA (if appropriate) in the shop but mobile service just does front to back.

    Y tires

I think "EV" is becoming meaningless. How many miles do you have on the new tires?
  36. B

    Y tires

I was referring to "old tire threads" in general not this thread specifically. When someone starts a new tire thread it's common to see "there are lots of threads, search". That might be helpful advice or not. Tires are a moving target so old information may not be helpful. E.g. Tesla recently...

    Y tires

One thing about browsing old tire threads is that they're old. They also tend to a lot of opinion and maybe not so much with test track results. Plus availability seems goofy. E.g. Michelin has announced a new EV tire series called the Defender 2 (80k warranty!). I watched a presentation to...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

The new tread depth should be 10/32 (5/16). Hankook has a 30 day trial so if there's something wrong with the tires they say they'll replace them. From their specs page: Tread Depth(32nds) 10.0

    MY Eating Tires

Is this with the ProContact RX?
  40. B

    MY Eating Tires

Yeah, but which one? The industry group (TRIA) the sets the "standards" recommends rear-cross for identical tires on all-wheel or rear-drive cars. The mobile Tesla service person told me they do front-cross at the service center.
  41. B

    MY Eating Tires

Yeah, the worst tire-wear car I've owned was a MINI Cooper and not even the turbo.

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

I got a loaner Model 3 at my last appointment on 28-Jan-2023. The car also appeared in the app ... the day after I returned it. I assume the rental stores don't have adding a random phones in their work flow but they could get fobs.

How happy are you with your Martian wheels?

Although you're done at this point I wonder if a road-force check would have revealed anything.
  44. B

Michelin CC2, Vredestien Quatrac Pro, or Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail?

The AllSeasonContact is a 3 peak mountain snowflake (3PMS) tire and the ProContact RX is just M+S. That should suggest significant differences in light snow if nothing else. Of course it's probably irrelevant since the AllSeasonContact doesn't appear to be officially available in North America.
  45. B

    compact spare tire?

As noted the pucks are optional*. More important is getting a jack without a slot or other optimization for a non-Tesla. *Tesla mobile service doesn't use them. Your random tire shop doesn't use them. A service center might have an optimized lift.
  46. B

    compact spare tire?

The spare is ~28" in diameter. The wheel is 18". I'd expect no gain from deflation but if there was it's still going to ~ 23" in diameter. It's only 6" thick so I'd just toss it in the cargo area and pack around it on a trip. I also wouldn't carry it on the daily commute -- I'd call roadside...

"Climate turned off because it has been on for 4 hours"

2022 Model Y We started seeing this after driving to home to work -- but not when driving from work to home -- after the 24.5 update. I had hoped the 24.8 update would fix the problem but it hasn't. We went from 20.7 to 24.5 on 23-Aug-2022 but the alerts didn't start immediately so this seems...
