    NRMA fast charging network

Thanks for raising this, I am remaining a NRMA member for now as other chargers including Tesla are not cheap - I am hoping this will be a more viable option for road trips.

Zappi eco+ mode - safe to use?

Have dropped timeout down to two minutes, I hope this is ok. I hear loud mechanical switching noises as it cycles on and off, not sure about the car yet though. I suspect it may actually decrease charge efficiency if the car is left running for long periods without charging, dunno. I suspect...

What does the LR Acceleration Boost cost in Australia?

Want to show this car off to some tradies, thinking of getting performance boost "trial" for two days, and then use that up before saving up my pocket money for it... anyone done this? I do want to try it out, I hear it does make a noticeable difference?

What does the LR Acceleration Boost cost in Australia?

A subscription option would be awesome... $3k is a lot but would be nice to get eventually. Imperial units are getting so old, there is literally only two countries in the world who still use this dumb system they keep forcing on everyone else, Geesh US move on.

Zappi eco+ mode - safe to use?

Does charge-standby keep the car awake overnight and possibly kill the 12v battery or something? Seems fine so far, will run an overnight test on Eco+ mode to see what happens.

Could this void warranty in any way? Interested in using it myself (Android).

Zappi eco+ mode - safe to use?

Increased charge stop/start delay to the max of four minutes, made a huge difference - now cycles much less frequently and should be fine. Now to test leaving it plugged in overnight to automatically start charging in the morning.

Zappi eco+ mode - safe to use?

It seems to work fine, honestly, I was even surprised to see the car start charging the next day although I assume it kept the car awake all night but didn't seem to cause any issues - I was very impressed frankly. So Eco+ seems

Zappi eco+ mode - safe to use?

I have a Zappi V2 three phase charger installed, and a M3 LR 21 model... I like the idea of the Eco+ mode that stops charging when surplus is not available, however could this damage the car or cause premature wearing e.g. on the charge port lock which I hear clicking sometimes? I assume Eco...

Zappi EV charger has damaged Tesla On-Board charger uk

Any further info on this? I'm worried now too, I have a three phase Zappi charger, should I at least not run Eco+ mode and only run Eco mode?

    NRMA fast charging network

Any idea when NRMA will start charging for this or if it will be included in their roadside service product? Which I suspect will happen as I have roadside service on my Tesla M3 and keeping it for this reason as it may be a very good deal if we can 'subscribe' to EV charging...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Honestly I don't bother with range. It was marginally useful in an ICE car so I always just used the fuel meter which worked fine. Same here, first thing I did was switch to percentage and estimate the rest myself. An accurate range estimate is like an accurate weather forecast. Even with the...

Leaving at train station 3-4 nights every week, bad idea?

Maybe it's just a US thing but we work with KWs here, calculating amps if needed. My home is three phase 240v power so I can get good juice out of that. My aircon is like 400v / 10KW (input). Can't wait to get my 11KW Zappi charger.

I think about half is CTP insured which is fair enough. So the cost is reasonable it's just disappointing that the government we fund goes to ground over it and says nothing. Click and collect or post should be incredibly easy to set up. Contact some opposition MLAs to see if they pull their...

Haha that's probably me (northside). Yep same will have to fork out another $70 toward my $800 p.a. 'free' EV registration. So has no one heard anything at all? Yes it's weird but I've driven past a few police and they don't seem to pay much attention to it. Someone should contact the media...

Does the Model S have an OBD-II connector?

2021 MIC M3 LR here, pretty keen to get more useful info. I have a Bluetooth OBD adapter for my diesel SUV but can I use that for my Tesla? It seems I just need an adapter cable.

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

It's pretty simple. We just want audio pass-through without low quality codecs and Bluetooth mangling it along the way. The mangling is noticeable. Spotify HD is perfectly fine even if a quarter the bit rate of native CD quality. But USB audio would just avoid all the mangling and let the...

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

Well lossless or damn near for anything up to CD quality, the difference is noticeable. The point being HD audio is not bandwidth intensive. Over Bluetooth or USB. There's no valid technical reason for Tesla to restrict audio quality like this.

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

I've had literally no issue, common things like headphones just seem to work. This isn't rocket science and I haven't heard anyone complain about USB-C devices. Although yes I primarily use Bluetooth with my phone, lossless audio over Bluetooth is standard for me now (LDAC), it's technically...

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

Then why bother with the sound system at all? It's a fantastic well designed sound system it just seems odd to limit it and no it isn't the minority otherwise there wouldn't have been a thriving home and car stereo business for decades. And for sound to go to full HD is such a tiny increase in...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

So more frequent but shallower charge cycles are best? Is it OK to keep it at 90% or should it be lower to reduce degradation?
  33. A

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

When I plug a USB dongle in to my USB-C Samsung phone, I can plug in a USB headset. That's audio passthrough. That's why headphones are going USB-C too. It's a pretty standard feature. It just passes the raw audio stream to an external DAC like headphones. That's all.

    Scratched front bumper (Aus)

So got my new M3 LR, yay! Pulled it out of a parking spot and reversed over a curb cornet and scratched the front corner bumber. Not yay! Is this a major drama and massive cost to fix? I'm with NRMA Australia if that helps.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

One reason for that is a home battery is a different design, with inverter and installation. You can't just plug a battery in to the wall, it needs a heap of other stuff. I have existing home solar and a Tesla M3 but I don't bother with home storage. Too much expense for so little gain.

Spotify HiFi / Apple Music / USB / Best Quality?

Um FLAC is only around 1MBit/s, maybe 1.4MBit/s uncompressed, maybe double that for high definition Master quality audio. Files are the order of 30-50MB per standard track, or 5-10MB/minute. Bandwidth and storage for FLAC stopped being an issue decades ago, it's hardly excessive. The issue is...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

So you're using the car for something it wasn't designed for. Maybe in an emergency sure but why not just get a dedicated battery and power supply?
  39. A

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

How do you see the KWh capacity? The car only reports range or percentage. Does keeping it slightly lower reduce battery wear? So for around town 80% limit may be fine? Maybe in Canberra in winter it could use a little more.

Samsung T5 SSD no longer connecting after latest software update

Can't we just use the native filesystem EXT4, wouldn't that be the best choice for this? Or is EXFAT fine?
  41. A

Spotify HiFi / Apple Music / USB / Best Quality?

FLAC is the only option, anything else honestly sounds rubbish in a Tesla. The Bluetooth audio codec is poor and mangles audio, the inbuilt apps are limited. It seems odd to put so much effort in to the sound system and then cripple it. Not even USB-C audio pass-through which would fix all this...
  42. A

    Spotify Sound Quality

Yeah the 2021 M3 L3 sounds fantastic with FLAC files but pretty poor / mangled with anything else. It's an odd decision for Tesla to take. Well back to the past then with a big hard drive and tonnes of FLAC files, with directories for albums and playlists because the controls are so basic.
  43. A

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

2021 M3 LR here, is it ok to leave the battery at 90% for day to day use or should I set it lower? I know I shouldn't go to 100% unless for a long trip. And if I leave the car plugged in, it seems to drain from the battery rather than the charger and cycle battery charging. Are repeated small...
  44. A

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Just get a dedicated 12V battery and inverter and use that, I wouldn't risk powering stuff from the car. It's not designed for it, they warn against it for a reason. portable devices and laptops are fine but I wouldn't go further than that. If you use a dedicated 12V battery and inverter you...

    Spotify Sound Quality

Or allow a higher bitrate when using own WiFi hotspot, or at least support half decent Bluetooth codecs. USB-C audio would fix all this though
  46. A

    Spotify Sound Quality

Disappointing. FLAC files sound amazing on the 2021 LR but really let down by poor Bluetooth and app streaming quality, and no option for USB-C audio passthrough or any audio input apart from the mangled Bluetooth connection (sounds like SBC).
  47. A

Feature request -- USB audio from phone

New LR 2021 owner getting, blown away by FLAC tiles over USB but very disappointed with streaming and Bluetooth quality, definitely sounds mangled by multiple transcoding steps and low quality SBC codec. The inbuilt apps seem limited to low bitrate. Audio over USB would fix all these issues...
