Selling my factory - perfect condition 21 uberturbines from my MYP with the stock pirellis... with around 3K miles only. Sitting in my garage.
I've run 21s and 20s on the model Y. 21 simply looks better and doesn't really change mileage or dynamics enough from my experience. So I'm...
I wonder if 3rd party roof racks don't whistle.... perhaps if they were a 1/2" taller or shorter.
Sorry--- it's not possible for those who say theirs doesn't whistle on the exact same car, unless the racks vary by when they are made. Yes it's possible people don't notice it or drive...
Yes... mine whistles around the same speed. Noticed it right away. Would love to hear if there's a life hack for that. I don't have ski racks on the OEM racks yet, but I'd think the whistle is the space between the glass roof and bottom of the OEM rack so may not matter.
yes. I tried it. Plan to run square later.
PIc of 275/35/21 on 10.5 up front. No rubbing for me during trial. Scroll to bottom of this thread:

Does anyone notice more "roll" if you take a corner fast with the increased profile? Just curious how much of the performance portion gets lost going up in size.
Thank you. Great info.
I've found a square set of uberturbine 21x9.5s so was debating between running 265/40/21 in a square set up or just upsizing the tires on stock staggered set -- which looks a bit better. But I like square setups. Was hoping you said it rubs in the rear then my...
Depends who you ask and what you tube channel you reviewed. I've seen some call them hockey pucks on ice and others taking high speed turns in the snow. I think AS would be fine on an AWD. I opted for a winter set but went back and forth.
Why not run 265/40/21 front, and 285/40/21 or 295/35/21 in rear. There's a great thread about it. Looks great. Or get fronts 21x9.5 and square it with 265/40/21.
Hey all,
I bought M3P 20" wheels/tires to make a winter set for my MYP. I had the Pirelli Zero 235/35/20 tires taken off to put on snow tires. I love the Pirelli's on my Y in the summer, but there's no reason to save these because I have 21s.
These have low miles (about 2500). A new set...
Whoever told you that was either misleading or clueless.
I'm in Tahoe area part time. Decided on a 2nd set of wheels to use for winter. I picked up 20" uberturbines from a M3P and run 265/40/20 winter tires (Michelin Alpin). A little bigger than the stock OEM 20 setup. Also square not...
thank you for posting those. They look good to me! Think I’ll go with that size.
I’ll look more into that specific tire too… although it’s crazy how many winter tires aren’t available right now. I’ve done quite a bit of research and at some point we start splitting hairs because of all the...
@Schulz1983 Yes to more pictures please! I've got 255/45/20s (Blizzaks) and 265/40/20 (Alpins) in the cart. Gotta figure which to buy! Would love to see the 265s. I will be using the M3P 20" uberturbines though.... so 20x9 vs 20x9.5. And on an MYP - but don't think that matters...
NO! It's no longer safe! Your best move at this point is to trade me your new tires for the OEM stock tires. I'm willing to do that for you. Paying it forward. :)
I drove it like I stole it. It doesn’t rub. I’ll bet 295s would not rub either. Now if you start going taller, then maybe? I think it’s got more room than that thread with the 265/40s up front
I'll let you know, but I think I prefer the fronts too - even though only one inch narrower. I'd prefer narrower for snow vs wider for performance or more aggressive stance. I'd run 265s on the square fronts. If I had the square rear I'd run 275s or 285s.
Turning right no problem. At least 2" clearance in front.
Turning left, the back of tire is close... probably 9/16" or so, maybe 3/4" of open air, hard to measure, with 275/35/21 using the 21x10.5 +48.
But never rubbed.
Rainy and windy day here... so had some time.
Here's what 21 x 10.5 Uberturbines look like on the front. These are the stock 275/35/21 tires.
I could not make them rub at all. Took some quick turns and and made tight circles in both directions.
@derichio02 Yeah there are a lot of 21s for sale. Don’t hijack thread please. This thread is about swapping fronts/rears with other members to make a square setup so we can rotate tires.
Throwing this back out there... anyone want to trade wheels to make a square set up? I'm looking to trade my rear/wider wheels and tires for someone's fronts. Although I'd consider the rears.
Can rotate tires this way and get a lot more miles out of them! Fronts do better in the rain and...
Last advice would be to ignore many threads. Forums can be useful as a great resource... but unfortunately also create misinformation and panic because of the variety of tastes and expectations from a large user base and 3rd party vendors selling solutions to "problems." Not saying their...
Love this thread. I'm curious how other 21s with less offset would do with 265/40/21s up front as far as rubbing. Guess it depends on the shape of the plastic in the wheel well.
What 21 forged wheels did you go with on the m6? I haven't seen many alternate 21s on the MYP.
A 21" light weight forged wheel for looks with a carbon fiber, snap-on aero for long distance would be sweet. :)
Of course it should. But we are referring to the video of the MYP doing 0-60 faster using 18" martians. But my belief is that the smaller diameter tires had MORE to do with quickness improvements than weight, because they did not stick with stock overall diameter. Not saying light isn't...
Yup -- that video of the MYP with 18" martians is super misleading. Kills me how often it's referred to. My guess is the difference was not nearlty as notable with same total diameter. Why not compare apples to apples?
I've sent multiple emails no response. That's a bummer -- communication is the one thing small companies can control.
Assuming spidermax mats (rear cargo) are backordered -- but no communication with a weeks time and doesn't say anything on site. Anyone have another source for the rear...
Mine have around 2500 miles. Still essentially new as well. No scratches... but I'm in northern california so the swap might be a little more difficult if you're in Los Angeles. hmmmm
@SDM44 looks good. How are you liking those wheels? I was gonna stick with uberturbines but those are tempting too. Did T sportline have issues selling as square?
I'm interested in a square setup with 21s on the MYP. Several have posted about doing it.
Anyone have pictures of theirs they'd share?
For those interested in doing the same... This could be a matchmaker thread as some may want to use the 21x10.5" all around and others might want to...
Anyone else looking to swap to square up the 21 uberturbines? I'm looking to swap my rears for fronts. I know some like the wide stance all the way around.
Wish you were up closer to northern california. Mine only has 2500 miles... would trade someone the 10.5" rear 21s for their fronts (9.5") 21s. Heading up closer this way?
I've got a thread going in the for sale area about tradiing 2 uberturbines with someone. I'm after the fronts too. But plenty after the rears to be sqaure all around.
So for those who have not signed up... what's the status for future purchases? I know you're in start-up mode - but if you're not on the list is there even a future expected date? Looks like a clean product. But it's "not available" vs backorder. Thank you.
Anyone else interested in this matchmaker thread? XrayDU and I may both be after front wheels -- but not 100% on that as there are pros and cons - especially with taller tire. Please post if anyone else is interested in a square 21 setup. Keep the beautiful ubers and 21s but square to rotate.
Lot's of talk about square setups lately... personally I don't have any issue with ride quality of 21s, but would love to rotate tires. I know others have put rear wheels up front to be able to put 265/35/21s or 275/35/21s all the way around.
I'm now considering this. I would even use the...
