    Comprehensive USB Bug List

The problem I think is the way Tesla implemented it for USB music. It appeared as though they cached the thumbnails for the entire library permanently. This can easily take up a large amount of storage when a library is large. Earlier, they had tried reading the images on demand too, but that...

Home charging, is it worth it?

I know twenty people have said this already, but it is definitely worth repeating: The convenience and satisfaction of charging at home far outweighs any other option. Also, as has already been said, supercharging all the time isn't good for the battery.

    Non-scheduled, TOU charging, how?

I think the charging features on Tesla do not expect 120V charging as a regular use case. Most 240V charging solutions will likely finish charging within one off-peak slot for most people. It is only 120V charging that is slow enough that a charging session starting at the start of an off-peak...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

Basically, being an owner since 2013, what I have learned is that a feature (software or hardware) is prioritized and released if and only if Elon personally is excited by it or wants it. A feature that does not excite/interest him personally does not get prioritized. In 2012, he was fascinated...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

Does anyone think it could be a deliberate change to delay the multimedia card failures? I remember they had some weird implementation where the album art cache was monotonously growing. Taking away features to save costs is something they have done before. I hope that's not the case here, but...

    Complete Reset after Software Update

I had a similar experience. Got the update-complete notification as usual. Didn't drive for a couple of days, and noticed that the app says the car does not allow remote connections. Went into the car only to notice a bunch of settings have been reset: no driver profile, no Homelink profile...

Improving Supercharger Availability $0.40 idle fee

Unless it is a one time message, many will consider it a nag. The screen on my father's car (Honda) shows a message warning that using the screen while driving can be distracting, and can result in accident - every time the car is started. There is an OK button that needs to be pressed before...

CA hov white stickers exp 1/1/19

I am in the same boat. While I understand the idea behind the change - to encourage more EV purchases, I would have handled it differently. When there are too many EVs congesting HOV lanes, I would have increased the HOV lanes. When the 1 HOV out of 4 lanes starts getting congested, I would have...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

I was thinking - may be someone here knows someone who works in Tesla software? Perhaps we can try to push for the basic album categorization fix through them? Don't know if someone has tried this already.

Supercharger - Napa, CA (EXPANDED Jun 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

I believe anyone who tries back in parking for a month will prefer it to back out parking. To me, it is the easier way to park (given the camera - lines or no lines), and it is the easier way to get out.

Here it is the new Tesla Maps ( coming this weekend? )

As far as I can remember, it always said that. The underlying Navigon (or whatever in other regions) brand, and whatever source for traffic was used, was never exposed to us. It always said - Navigation by Tesla on the center console when navigation was running.

Creep on or off and why

I keep creep on, but I do understand the point that one does not want the car to move without any input from the driver. The thing is though, the car may move anyway, if it is on an incline, even if unnoticeable or slight. Because of this, You have to keep the brake pedal pressed anyway (I have...
  15. I

Creep on or off and why

I feel like unintended acceleration by pressing the wrong pedal during parking maneuver is more probable with creep off, because then you are constantly switching between pedals. With creep on, your foot stays on break pedal only, so unintended acceleration by pressing wrong pedal is less probable.

POLL: Have you had to have your 12V battery replaced?

My original 12V battery died at about 38k miles, after 34 months of ownership in Oct 2016. The second battery is dying now at about 50k miles, after 51 moths of total ownership. So the second battery lasted less than 1.5 years.

New Navigation Coming This Weekend! (circa March 31, 2018)

The old nav used to show turns at their actual angles in the signage at the bottom. The new nav signage seems to show all turns at right angles. Is this correct? Also, the old nav used to show the lanes to stay on. I see this missing in the new nav. Can someone confirm this? Both of these were...

Here it is the new Tesla Maps ( coming this weekend? )

There is no big download involved for the vector maps update. It is for the center console (Google Maps) only, and is switched on server side. This has nothing to do with nav - neither routing, nor IC display. What you get out of it is that the zoom-in, zoom-out, rotate, (and lateral movements?)...

New UMC 14/50 limited to 32 amps... WHY?!

What is the basis for this statement? When I bought my car this was one of two recommended methods by Tesla for daily charging. Public Charging Etiquette - Unplugging Teslas from J1772s

In my opinion, the only person who can decide whether a drivers needs to charge is the driver themselves. No one else has to right to judge their need whatever be the case - local, traveling, shopping, big battery, small battery, 50% soc, 90% soc - doesn't matter. If you believe someone is...

TESLA employees admit churning out flawed parts...

Give it some time for M3. I'd not judge M3 yet. M3 owners with YouTube channels are too new. The original statement I believe is really true for MS/MX owners. Also, if you look at MS and MX owners, singing praise, and having to send the car to service multiple times are not mutually exclusive...

Is it time to reduce the price of Autopilot?

I think EAP should come standard with MS. AP is (still) pretty much a distinguishing feature of Tesla, and making it standard in their flagship will make it stand out, and will be very good for publicity, public perception, and customer good will. FSD can continue to be add on for $3000. More...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

OK, that's good. USB connected to MP is an essential feature and must remain (even if buggy) until they have another solution like onboard storage. I also use AM a lot when on road trips to National Parks, where they broadcast the latest road conditions, traffic etc. Often there is no phone...

OMG.. M3 doesn't have USB linked to the MP? In that case, I am afraid the MS interior refresh that I am so eagerly waiting for will not have it either..!! Or did you mean M3 didn't at first, but it does now? By the way, I wouldn't say "Elon does not see MP as a priority". Rather, I believe only...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Yes. I have no plans of replacing my MS, or buying a new one in the near future. Yet, I can't wait for an interior refresh and a range upgrade to be announced/released. I want to see 3-to-S distinguishing features bigger than space and an extra screen for no bigger price difference than current...

Autozoom in Navigation is not working

Haven't experimented enough to answer accurately, but I believe you need to manually zoom to (exactly or approximately?) the expected level pressing the +/- buttons for it to take over. Otherwise it thinks you want a custom zoom level and stays out of your way.
  38. I

Model S range and interior update imminent?

But then, if I understand you correctly, your focus is not really on the "long range" aspect of the iPace. The point I was trying to make was in reference to people/analysts suggesting this is the first long range luxury EV to compete with MS, with stress on long range. Without a robust fast...
  39. I

Model S range and interior update imminent?

I often think about this point too. What's the point of having a long range EV without a robust fast charging network. I know CHAdeMO and other networks are gradually growing, but at least in the US, they are still far from enabling worry free long distance driving.

How many of you are electric cars only?

My Model S is the first and only car I have ever owned. So if you ignore rental cars on road trips before I bought my car, then I am all electric my entire life ;). Well, I did learn driving in my father's car. That had an ICE.

Yeah, mine went into annual service a couple of months ago. No mention of TPMS upgrade or anything. I have third party tires though. Don't know if that matters. Tesla is currently ignoring the ALBUMARTIST tag. All songs in your album must have the same ALBUM and the same ARTIST (and the same YEAR?) tags in order to be categorized into one album right now. [Correct expected behavior: Categorize albums by <ALBUM, ALBUMARTIST> tag pair. But it doesn't...

Autopark - Not what I expected?

Sorry, I should have put it better. I know how to stop it. What I was wondering about is whether you can realize you need to stop it in those 5% of the cases. I feel like it is impossible to tell when it might have turned the steering wheel a tad too much or too little, or if it is going to...

Autopark - Not what I expected?

I don't have AP on my car, so cannot tell from experience, but isn't it near impossible to take control when auto park goes wrong?
