Recent issues with using Track Mode data

I need to add steering angle next time. I have another track day scheduled for June. Hope to have coilovers on by then. Took way to long for the car to settle.

Recent issues with using Track Mode data

I used it a few weeks ago and all data was fine. It didn't start until after the first lap was completed since pit exit was after the finish line. Irrelevant for me as the first lap was for getting ready. How many laps did you run, and did you mark the finish line correctly?

Torque, Horsepower, and speed, A technical discussion

The natural progression of internet discussions on vehicles. No different than in the mid-90's with email Listserv's and no forums.

Torque, Horsepower, and speed, A technical discussion

I am curious where 'falls on it's face' is a term designed to instigate an argument? The term has been used since vehicles started racing. It is meant to state that the acceleration rate tapers quicker than other vehicles the individual has experienced. Yes, it is a hyperbole in that it isn't...

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

Did you read that part where I mentioned that it is a matter of perspective? To clarify, your definition of performance is the ability to push one of the pedals. You originally stated responsiveness and then clarified with throttle response. For your second paragraph, feelings are irrelevant...

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

My post was really about the use of 'Metric' since it is should be measurable. The case use frames the perspective on what is fun. If someone often drives at the speed limit and doesn't use public roads as their playground, the Model 3 is probably 'fun' and there is nothing wrong with that. Me...

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

I get the notion that there are many here that have never been on a road course and others that have. The definition of responsiveness changes depending on the classification. No right or wrong, just perspective.

What makes a car "fun to drive"?

A Metric is a measure that is quantifiable. What is quantifiable? Is it response on turn-in? Or time to settle the suspension after a transition on a road course? Or is your measurement just throttle pedal response? If just the later, I agree., this vehicle is great on acceleration response. If...

FS: M3P 20" Uberturbines with 255/35 Michelin PS4 AS with TPMS Sensors

As the title says, I am selling my M3P 20" Uberturbines with 255/35 Michelin PS4 AS and includes the TPMS Sensors. I ended up going to 18 inch wheels as I am traveling more and wanted the better range. There are about 2k miles on the tires. I will bring my tire depth gauge in to check it but...

    WTB: M3P 20" uberturbine set

I was thinking of replacing mine. The tires are fairly new, about 1500 miles on them. I put 255/35/20 Michelin PS4 AS tires on them. I could even deliver them to your door as I travel to Charlotte often. I just walked outside and took this. The car is on Eibach springs and I do have the...

Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

Did you leave the values the same for the wheel/tire settings in the vehicle? I see it is within 99% of the diameter and circumference, it may not need it. Just curious.

    Lowering Springs for 2021 M3P

Noting to really report as they are just springs. I'm still enjoying my Eibach's as much as when I put them on. I don't expect that to change.

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

Older ones require bundle of wires, ECU and adapter. A 2021 would only need the ECU and adapter.

Can any shop do wheel alignment

Nope, nothing special about a Tesla suspension. No special tool is needed. Many often claim this, which is not true.

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

As others have stated, no, Tesla does not offer this direct. You would need the bundle of wire, new ECU and the adapter. Plan on about $500 in parts. For you to determine whether it is worth it to gain CCS access. The good news, being in Atlanta means there are local people who can help with...

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

As a side note to the above when testing. While I was charging, another M3 pulls up. He parks by one stall and then move to another. I ask him the year of the vehicle, expecting to have a quick conversation on changes he made. He says he has no idea and it's a rental. I then see the J1772...

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

Ended up running out to my office and decided to test the new ECU and adapter. Only dropped to 85% SoC when I got to a nearby EA station (for those local, the BoA at Hwy 92 and Trickum Rd). I pulled in and hooked up and said it could not connect, try pushing in the plug further. I tried a few...

Retrofit CCS compatibility onto earlier (NA) Model 3 - DIY approach

30 minutes start to finish. But this is with a neutered September 2021 build that just needed the updated ECU. I had checked out access earlier and saw the fabric liner was flexible enough to pull back and get to the charge port ECU. Just pull out from behind the weatherstripping and the upper...

Interesting. I tried to order from the app and defaulting to the Kennesaw facility and it got cancelled. I walked into the Kennesaw facility and ordered it. M3P VS BMW I4 M50

For day to day driving to and from my office as well as out of town business trips, I prefer the M3P over my previous E90 M3 6MT (the car I owned longer than any other and liked the most). Now, on Atlanta Motorsports Park, I am confident there would be no question in the superiority of the E90...

Are you planning to own post-warranty?

Show me a similar repair to an ICE vehicle with the same performance? I expect you will find a similar cost when using a dealer. Sometimes, swapping an AC compressor, requires a drop of the subframe. The aftermarket (parts and service) will be catching up with the number of Model 3's sold...

Are you planning to own post-warranty?

I may be in the minority, but this vehicle should be simpler to fix by a DIYer. The drivetrain has less parts and that is the highest cost area. Modern ICE vehicles with the same performance are more sophisticated when it comes to the drivetrain. Many believe the technology is an impedance but...

    Traffic info disappeared from navigation

It was always a 'trial'. At least I got a year with my September 2021 M3P. I believe it is one month now. Tesla incurs fees with this for the cellular data. For me, I will pay the annual fee as I rarely take my phone out of my pocket or want to look at smaller screen (old eyes).
