I had the same problem with my 2017 Model X. I pulled on it, and it slipped out. So I plugged it back in and tried to pull it back out, and it had locked. Now, every time I plug it in, I pull back on it to make sure it is locked in. So far I haven't had any more problems.

The coolant has to be pure, or it will conduct electricity. The reason Tesla uses the special coolant is because it is non-conductive. Just like pure water is used in some cases as an insulator because it's the contaminates that makes water a good conductor, the same goes with the coolant.
