    Annoying tesla things?

After two years with imported AWD LR from Japan and in spite of Musk being -er- eccentric sometimes, we love it. To get round fishing for controls while driving, have mounted a GPS immediately in front of driver and leave 'controls' up on the screen. Fan, wipers and other things are always to...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Cheers guys; I'm the jammiest bloke around. About 18 months ago I saw a red 2019 LR being imported from Japan, lightly used, and grabbed at it , paying $500 for first dibs. Red and shiny drove it round the block, completed trade and took it home. Now with solar panels and storage battery, going...

Apart from Musk's antics, well worth the wait. Our 2019 3 LR seems to have extra urge and some apparently get unsung extras...

How to get a Model 3 Performance Stealth / Sleeper

At last, having wondered what on earth was going on with my totally standard 2019 M3 LR AWD which appears to get to 100km/h in about 3 seconds, I have a possible answer. Our import from Japan could (just 'could') be a 'stealth' model. I used to race cars and Chichi is much much faster than any...

    Tesla Model 3 0-60 in 4.6 Seconds...

Left wife at home and on way home from Doc tried a 3-second sprint so as not to speed by too much just in case...hit cruise control at 'Massachusetts three' and to my amazement, when I looked at the speed it was at 104kph...model 3 long range is surprisingly quick but haven't been able to repeat...

Model 3 turn signal inconsistency - pain

I pass the lever to neutral then indicate anew; often with short turns just lightly rest the lever up or down with a finger; it is an electronic system, not purely mechanical...

[Two] New rear tires and now autopilot weaves

My m3LR failed warrant due one tyre at "0mm" tread. Our warrants allow for the tyres to wear 1.6mm before next annual warrant (costly but true). Replaced full set with Michelin Primacy 4s, aligned and away. Straight, quiet and more economical so far; down from 1.52 to 1.33 power usage... No...

2021 Model 3 LR tire replacement advice needed

    Tailgating

In real English the word is 'boot' as in 'boot sales' beloved of poms at the weekends. Tail-gate parties are so necessary because 'Merkin 'football' goes on so long patrons will die of hunger without sustenance...

    Will 19inch model S wheels fit a model 3

A general observation; all wheels on your car must be exactly the same specification per axle, have the same wear and have similar inflation pressure. If wheels on an axle for significant lengths of time are significantly different it may mess up front to rear axle drive ratio electronics...

    Japanese Tesla Import Owners

Hi guys/gals; Had our Japanese import 2019 M3 LR since June 2021. Have gone full Tesla with solar, power wall and 24 amp charger. Happy to field questions about all aspects of Chichi. Clive Shaw, Timaru; [email protected]

keep mobile connector plugged in? or unplug after use

Does a home wall charger do anything useful when it has achieved selected percent charge if left plugged in? I ask because mine still has 2 volts flickering which after time reduces towards 1 volt. I presume that it is balancing cell voltages or something. What gives?

Creaking sound from left front suspension

Now then; a good solid way to end ball-joint creaking. Total time for both sides, well under the hour. Method; 1. Jack up front of car. 2. Remove wheels. 3. Remove bolt securing each king-pin assembly. Released, the hubs will safely hang.) 4. Unclip antilock signal wires at clips to prevent...

Creaking sound from left front suspension

Me again; Have considered the suspension and all, and why some creak and many don't. Could it be either; that the rougher side of the road keeps enough lubricant moving around to reduce tendency on driver's side; or; the uca carries no suspension load, rather it maintains the alignment of the...

Creaking sound from left front suspension

Have drilled with small carefully angled bit through the steel cap, taking swarf off with a magnet. Application of lithium grease a few days ago is having a very gradual effect on the noise especially when I move wheel from straight. The blob of grease on capping of ball-joint assembly stays in...

Creaking sound from left front suspension

Thank you android04, have investigated 'cos the creak IS from the ball-joint. Am unsure if grease can get under the metal capping before it separates the plastic coating above so have drilled a tiny second hole to relieve pressure. A zerk may only be useful as a reservoir of grease to gradually...

Creaking sound from left front suspension

Location of squeak at outside of upper control arm indicates lack of lubrication in ball joint, a common topic. With the frunk liner out lift the rubber closer to reveal the top of the upper control arm. There appears to be a grub-screw closing what I assume to be a SAE grease-nipple thread...

Creaking sound from left front suspension

After several happy months of absolute quiet with with our 2019 3LR, now have a creaking under. How to remove Frunk liner retainer clips?

RobY; Yes there is and I have no idea what! They are flimsy and after trying all sorts to get the blighters out I've simply stuck 'em back together with silica cement to use as locators rather than fixings. That no-one responded to you in Mar 2020 shows that we're all flummoxed by the sad design.

Where to get trim clip for frunk plastic perimeter?

Further to the two notes above, when I refitted the six main bolts (that on the wiper reservoir filler neck hardly counts) I simply nipped them and subsequent driving was full of creaks and groans. Decided that the frunk liner is actually a structural item and retightened those six bolts to...

Keycard required every time when trying to drive..

Good grief guys, what a lot of sadness and dismay! If your phones are like mine you have to allow for wi-fi hot-spot versus bluetooth at distance and other competing signals. Where to get trim clip for frunk plastic perimeter?

Having now for the first time removed my frunk liner I realise what clips were referenced for my earlier post. The perimeter clips are so fragile I filled the gap behind the mobile sections with silicon adhesive filler because the liner has shrunk after moulding and the clips are more...

I'm 86 and having the time of my life with our imported '19 M3. Replacement Rear light units

From Brewer, 'near' stems from having a pair of horses drawing a carriage. The 'near' horse is the left one facing forward, the right horse is the 'off'. So there (and I said nothing about the kerb...).

    Replacement Rear light units

Sorry to be a pedant (my wife hates it) but that is the 'off' side; from horse-riding the 'near' side is where you mount and dismount... Lights should certainly be fittable. Cyclists can be a pain! (and pedants)

How hot should the batteries get while charging?

Right; but multiply by thousands? When I was a kid had a pal who would charge a capacitor then leave pockmarks on brass door-handles by shorting them on the metal. There's a kick available, if tiny.
