    2024.2.7 Sucks?

Thank you very much! I was planning to start trying to fix the same wiper problem on our 2021 S LR. I wasn't quite sure where to start and now I'll just wait for Tesla to fix it while hoping I won't have to drive in the rain. Computers - a blessing or a curse. Just depends on the day I guess.

    Barrett-Jackson

Before EVs entered the market place ICE designers and engineers produced vehicles that took advantage of the latest technology and in some instances were very pleasing to the eye. I am not advocating the use of ICE vehicles, just giving credit to people who did an excellent job with the tech...

    Barrett-Jackson

We have been watching the Barrett-Jackson auction for the past several days and can't believe the sales prices - a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda for $525,000!!!! Yes, a lot of these cars have been seriously modified but that Cuda couldn't have sold for much more than $5,000 brand new. And since then...

    A $175.00 Mistake

And the Fob is only a small part of the damage this Beast has caused! He is the most Alpha dog we have ever had. He is constantly challenging us. He's getting better and, hopefully, he will soon relax and enjoy just being part of the pack.

    Considering Model X purchase

That is one serious German Shepherd! The breed standard lists 90 pounds as the maximum weight. I didn't realize they got that big. Our 95 pound Doberman loves our S with the back seat down with Weather Tech mats for traction.

    A $175.00 Mistake

Lorax, He did manage to pop the frunk and trunk open and we initially couldn't figure out how that happened. Took a while to realize he did that from inside the house! I always thought that you had to have the Fob within inches of the frunk or trunk to make it work.

    A $175.00 Mistake

So I set my key Fob down, just for a minute, and then forgot about it. The photograph below shows what happened when our dog found his new "toy". Will he ever stop chewing on anything and everything he can fit his teeth around?!?!

    Heat Pump

It is! It does? Then why did I just get this email from Tesla written as if this heat pump thing was brand new to the S. Very frustrating and irritating to be so misleading! Oh yes, it's Tesla.

    Heat Pump

Ostrichsak, I watched the short video that came with the email and thought that was probably the case but was still hopeful. I guess we'll just have to trade in our 21 S and get a new one. :D I'll try to find an hour to watch the video you suggested. Thanks

    Heat Pump

Just read an article from Tesla about a new heat pump to improve mileage in the winter by capturing excess heat from the battery and use it to heat the cabin in winter. Is there a retrofit for cars built before this became standard equipment?

    Indicator/turn signal stalk discovery

Ah, an advantage to having to wait most of a year for the delivery of your car! I think I read the owner's manual at least 3 times in the interim. And I still almost returned to the Tesla store after less than 2 blocks because the acceleration was way too scary. It took me a minute to remember...

    Tire Pressure Question

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered before but... When checking tire pressures I am aware that you should check them when cold, meaning before they are driven and after they have had a few hours to cool off after driving. But what about the difference between checking them on a...

I’m scared to drive my new Tesla in the winter

Ah, memories... This thread has reminded me of 2 experiences when I was much younger. The first was a trip from Niagara Falls to Chicago and back. On the return trip the snow on the highways was as much as 10 inches deep and I hardly slowed down from the speed limit in spite of the fact that my...

Is it illegal to speed to the speed limit from the traffic lights when the signal turns green?

I'm still, after 2 years, getting used to how easy it is to pass other vehicles under most any circumstance, and safely, without having to "floor it". The difference in acceleration between our S and any ICE car I have ever driven is ridiculous. And the handling will cope with any acceleration I...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

TessP100D, At 10 feet tall and 20 feet long I'm afraid it wouldn't fit in our garage and they also don't make any mention of the tow capacity. And they only refer to "other fleet customers" as their new market. I have my request in to my Ford dealership for a Transit van but they have informed...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

We're waiting for a full size EV van with the towing capacity of our current van which is a 1985 Ford E350 diesel with a towing capacity of 9600 pounds. We prefer the van due to its' much greater internal space for our 2 XL dogs and other loads which are best carried locked inside. The Ford has...

    Model S volt question

Just read an article saying that the Cybertruck and the Semi will have 800 volt batteries. I have forgotten what the voltage is on our 2022 model S LR. Could someone please let me know what that figure is? Just curious for a comparison. Beasts

    Staggered Tires - Rotation?

For a vehicle with staggered tires does it make any sense to do a side to side rotation? Would it make a significant difference to have the tires rotating in the opposite direction (most of the time)?

Pennsylvania Solar Roof and Powerwall Canceled

We just got an estimate for a Tesla Solar Roof. It is just a verbal estimate but it does include tearing off the old roof (1 layer) and does not include replacing the gutters. A more accurate estimate would have cost us $150.00 Before doing that I worked up some figures: Total cost...

    Asymmetric Tires

Our S has staggered wheels of course but no, that is not what I am referring to. Good to know about the price and durability. Wondering, if we were willing to pay the price, could we match the durability of the symmetric tires? I'm also thinking that since I am not terribly aggressive, my wife...

    Asymmetric Tires

When it comes time to replace my 2021 S LR tires what would the positives and negatives to purchasing asymmetric tires be? While the car did not come with them they were mentioned in the owner's manual as being the tires which would be included. My purpose is not to complain but to find out the...

    2021 S LR Navigation Quirks

    2021 S LR Navigation Quirks

A couple of problems. 1) After heading down into a valley and then starting up again the car suddenly applies the brakes. It does the same thing at the top of a hill. Front License Plate Holder on refreshed Model S

I'm ready to remove the darn thing but then I keep asking myself what if Ohio suddenly starts requiring a front plate again (very low odds I'm sure) or I decide I want a vanity plate up there (also low odds). I would be concerned about getting it back on level and centered and using an...

Front Windscreen Camera Heating Elements Not Working?

A lot of good and interesting information here but is it possible that the area around the front facing camera in the OP, being primarily black, absorbed and retained more heat from the sun than the rest of the clear windshield, keeping it warmer? The additional heat would only be necessary while...

    All Weather Rear Trunk Liner

The folks at Knines recommend purchasing the XL for the S, as you probably know DerbyDave, but they have no answer for the sliding problem. it would be good for our dogs but at 90 pounds plus I would be afraid of their stepping in that gap between the front and rear seats even when it is covered...

    Yoke peeling

FYI. After reading this post I ran out to our 21 S and checked the Yoke. No wear, no problems thank goodness, after 14 months and 8,000+ miles. It's garaged all of the time so maybe that helps. afarkas2222, good to hear everything worked out for you. Hope that you have better luck with the...

    All Weather Rear Trunk Liner

DerbyDave, Thanks for your response. I have a call in to 4knines to find out how slippery the top surface is and whether there is any way to keep the rear end of the liner in place - it looks loose in the picture. That top surface looks more slippery than the carpet in the car. CanvasBack has...

    All Weather Rear Trunk Liner

We are considering the purchase of one of these liners for our 21 S but need to find out whether their top surface will help to prevent items from sliding, in our case a large cooler and 50 pound bags of goose food in smooth paper bags for example. The carpet surface in the car provides little...

Tape on Floor for Backing Into Garage

For some reason, which I have never really given any thought to, I have never tried backing into the garage. It just seemed easier to drive straight in and back out. But we do have to be very careful to just clear the passenger side mirror on the way in so that we can open the driver's door...

    What's your Tesla (origin) story?

For the longest time we approached car buying with overall durability and good fuel consumption as primary considerations. We had a gasoline powered Jetta that got 45 miles to the gallon, then a diesel Jetta that got over 50 mpg, a second diesel Jetta that only got in the high 30s and got caught...

    Check your front tyres today!

For those readers who have a Model S, I can't speak for the other models, please remember that your tire widths differ front to rear making rotations less helpful as you can't move front to rear. Maybe obvious but I thought it to be worth mentioning.

KWh/mile in the refresh Model S LR

I am interested in getting KWh/mile figures from other refresh Model S LR owners. Our S is just a year old, has almost 8,000 miles on it and has gotten 288 KWh/mile over those 8,000 miles. Yesterday on a 57 mile trip we got 258 KWh/ mile. I thought it might be informative to compare our...
