Adding towing lights to 2018 model 3

Did some YouTube searching and found this guy: who found a 12V supply under the rear seat bench, which seems like a much more convenient source than the battery itself. Still not sure it's in my ability but perhaps now worth a shot.

Adding towing lights to 2018 model 3

I have a hitch already mounted that can tow up to 2000 lbs, initially to just get bikes around. However we need to fetch some stuff that is likely not going to fit in the car and it would be nice to have the option of renting a trailer. But I don't have the towing lights harness installed and...

    Buying used Tesla question

You have to prove ownership to Tesla to get the car added to your account. It’s not particularly hard if you have the purchase docs.

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

Right, going the other way is much harder. But we were able to do 70 all the way to Asheville.

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

Drove by there yesterday on an epic trip to Chicago from Charleston. Fortunately didn’t need it as the car made it easily to Asheville from Orangeburg despite being loaded down with luggage and a bike on the back! Very impressed with how little projected range was affected.

Thanks, I’ll have to investigate that!

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

A bit disappointed by this location choice tbh, I guess it’s designed to be more of an urban SC? Harbison Blvd is regularly backed up with mall traffic. Happy to have another charging option on I-26 of course, but wish it had been a bit further north.

ICE-er at Biltmore Park, Asheville SC

I believe this site has “Tesla vehicle charging only” ones.

ICE-er at Biltmore Park, Asheville SC

Understood and yes it wasn’t full. Just weird behavior as there were plenty of non-Tesla spots nearby. Signs are just standard Tesla charging notices.

ICE-er at Biltmore Park, Asheville SC

Charged a couple of times at the Thetford Rd, Biltmore Park SC and each time there was ICE-ing going on, the first time 2 vehicles, the second just one. In fact, I swear it was the same car the second time. I think someone just habitually parks there. Does anyone have responsibility for the SC...

All these new chargers along I-95 in SC. I-26 needs another 60 miles north of Columbia!

Also do you have the “don’t lock“ setting on when you’re parked at home? The car could have just been unlocked.

    Weird Navigation issue

Just had a similar experience after visiting the new SC in Orangeburg. Tesla route planner had our trip from Charleston to Asheville with one stop at Orangeburg. However once we continued the route was changed to take us via Greenville SC adding about an hour to our trip. We cancelled the route...

    Snow storm

A classic case of concern trolling. No effort to find out the real situation, just a flight of fancy about how dire it would be to be caught in an electric car in a snow storm. They attempted to head us off with a note about Norway but then said they all still drive ICE there anyway so… What an...

Anyone know how to get warranty service near Charleston SC?

There are mobile techs in SC but I’ve yet to benefit from that service. I’ve driven to Savannah twice now, it’s not a bad trip, but it takes time. I lamented the situation to one of service guys there and he says they wish they had a service center in Charleston as the majority of the visits...

    Supercharger - Lexington, SC

For folks using this charger, be aware that around the time of this post, the designated southbound ramp off of I-20 W is closed for construction. You can probably take the northbound ramp and turn left (or do a U-turn shortly after merging). Otherwise it’s quite a detour to the next off ramp!

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Great to see a dedicated I-26 supercharger in SC. Visited the new one in Lexington the other day and the closed ramp off of I-20W made the trip even more of a detour than it had to be. Really looking forward to an easy I-26 drive in the not too distant future.

    Clicking/Buzzing/Rattling Noise

Yeah - it's obviously something vibrating and hitting something adjacent such that it makes a buzzing noise. I'll make a note of it when I next take it in for a service and hopefully they can do something similar. The fact it doesn't do it while stationary makes it very hard to pin down.

    Clicking/Buzzing/Rattling Noise

I’ve got a used 2018 LR M3 and I have a similar noise. At first I thought it was static from the door tweeter, but it’s not. It’s definitely something in the dash that vibrates in sympathy with certain road conditions. Really hard to pinpoint, but quite irritating.

Well, I thought I bought a 2020 Model Y, but only to find out it was a rental, and I was a victim of Fraud!

You can imagine my disappointment when I got my “Real ID” license back and the only difference was a stupid gold star. I guess the difference is in the document check, but really, what a pointless exercise.

    Missing USB Ports

It does seem that some people are completely unaware of the huge logistics crisis at the moment. Tesla, just like any other manufacturer, has suppliers all over the place and their production line depends on just in time delivery of parts for assembly. You’ll have noticed that Fremont does not...

Test Drove Still Researching [whether to purchase a Model 3 performance or LR]

I have to wonder if these fine differences being described would be noticeable in a blind test? If you didn’t know you were driving a P vs LR would you still know?

Blog Tesla Planning to Triple Supercharger Network

I think this is going to be limited to Europe for the foreseeable future, the current US utilization rate is way too high to risk opening it up. Europe's utilization rate is apparently quite low (unsurprising given that most trips there are within range) so could be a nice profit generator.

HomeLink auto close does not work

Unfortunately my garage is on a very tight curl-de-sac so there is no straight approach (and the GPS is probably a bit confused by the tall buildings on each side). I should have left it as it was! :)

HomeLink auto close does not work

If it’s any consolation it happened again for me yesterday, the car didn’t think I was leaving so didn’t offer to close the door. But the home link icon was green so it knew the car was within the geofence. I don‘t think it’s time based as I’ve quickly gone back out and it’s been fine with auto...

HomeLink auto close does not work

When I leave I the Homelink popup appears with an distance indicator and the option to skip. I've had two departures where that didn't happen and so the auto close doesn't happen. Are you getting that display at least? (Also do you back into your garage? - the transmitter is at the front of...

A FLAT should NOT be this difficult!

Well in the OPs defense, the insult to injury was having to fight with the tire cos about getting new tires put on because of fear of lifting his car. That sounds pretty miserable. Is this a common experience?

    Supercharger - Lexington, SC

First post from a new Model 3 owner in Charleston (well the car itself is used, but new to me :) ) Very pleased to see this. Took a trip up to Waynesville, NC a couple of weeks ago and had to hit the east Columbia charge both ways and it added quite a bit of time to the trip. We just need one...
