    Unprovoked road rage...

If road raging against EVs really is above normal (I'm not sure it is), I have a theory about why this might be. Regenerative braking. In ICE vehicles, we commonly maintain a close following distance by alternately hitting and releasing the accelerator. You can drive an EV this way, but with...

    Motion sickness?

A couple more data points: I am occasionally affected by motion sickness (boats, first-person video games), but I have had no problems driving my Model 3. My braking is really smooth. My acceleration can be spirited at times. That said, I drove my cousin around town this summer, and he got...

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

When I received my car in January, TACC was unusable and untrustworthy. After I received 2022.8, things became much better. I have done some highway driving since, and it behaved well. Though I'm beginning to use the system, I still don't trust it if someone's right behind me. Maybe that trust...

Phantom Braking Needs to be Reported and Fixed

Me, too! I think it is especially important in a Tesla where it is more difficult to tell your speed by ear. Fortunately for me, as of software 2021.8.3, I am slowly beginning to trust autopilot and TACC. I'm now on 2022.16.2. I often test it on a road through the woods, and it works even with...

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

I would think that AEB would be applying the brakes hard to avoid an imminent collision. That is, your 10-20% regen speed drops were probably not AEB. My guess is that TACC is primarily concerned with following, but Autosteer (beta) forces the system to take more information (or misinformation)...

Phantom braking in my new Model Y

I have only done a little testing so far, but my experience is consistent with what @DrGriz reported. Deactivating Autosteer (Beta) makes TACC much more stable. I drove home in the rain last night with no TACC problems at all.

Phantom braking so bad I want to return my car

I received my Model 3 RWD in January, but I have been hanging out on TMC for months. I knew that phantom braking was commonly reported, and I seriously considered canceling my order. I decided not to cancel it because (a) there were no other suitable EVs available at the time and (b) the resale...

    Drastic reduction 110V charging

Can you adjust the current to 12A manually on the charging screen before you plug in?
  10. S

    Drastic reduction 110V charging

As I recall, the manual says that the current draw is adaptive. If the system detects the voltage dropping as it draws charging current, it automatically backs off and then remembers the lower current setting. Just speculating, but perhaps you have had power fluctuations and the car backed-off...

Picked up my Tesla in early December, worst car I've ever owned.

I have a 2022 RWD and live in the Chicago area. At home, my car is in a heated garage at about 58 degrees. However, I frequently visit my parents, and my car gets "cold-soaked" for a few hours. The drive is only about 9 miles each way, but the range drops by more than 9 miles on each leg...

    Build quality

I was very pleased that my 2022 RWD seemingly had zero defects when it was delivered. However, I have since found a couple of issues. First, the trunk lid is not quite aligned, and getting worse. At the hinge on the driver's side, the panel gap is now about 1cm. The SC will service it for free...

    Phantom Braking

I have been following this issue for several months, here, on YouTube, and on Reddit. There is plenty of video evidence, and it seems to be happening enough to make people trade in their vehicles. Even reviewers acknowledge the phantom braking problem. It is quite possible that the problem...

What it cost me to charge my Model 3 per month in Illinois.

I am also in Illinois. I picked up my RWD a couple of weeks ago (yay!). My apartment building will allow me to charge in the garage on a 110V, albeit at a higher price than you are paying per KWh--I don't think their facility plan is hourly. I use Arcadia for my apartment's electricity usage...

    Model 3 in Snow/Ice

Yo what's up! I was going to post this, too! I took my 2022 RWD out in the fresh snow this morning to try it out. I had heard that the stock tires were terrible in the snow, and I wanted to see for myself. Well, I found the car to be really well behaved. Overall, I am very impressed with the...

    Will electricity stay cheap forever?

The price of electricity will go up because demand will increase. There is also the cost of adding infrastructure. As I understand it, if all the cars on your street were EVs, it is likely that the power company would have to upgrade its neighborhood transformers. On the other hand, as the...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

OD: The very end of August. Initial EDD: January Earliest EDD: Late Nov Recent weeks EDD: Feb 3 - Mar 3 VIN: Jan 9th, EDD window jumped to Jan 9-14. Delivered today! 🎉 The system is updating, so I cannot see all features yet, but guessing I don't have a Ryzen.

Payment method: Plaid vs direct draft

TIP: Wait a few seconds after cancelling/exiting Plaid Link. I could not find the manual ACH method despite all the hacks here, but discovered that after cancelling, it takes a few seconds for a manual option dialog to present itself. If you start tapping into Add Payment Method right away...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I have no idea what this means, but I love it! OD: end of August EDD has been February for several weeks. I just received my VIN. I expect I'll be posting an update shortly.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Same here. EOD end of August. EDD bounced around and was reading Dec 12-26 for the last week. As of yesterday, early Feb-Mar. MSM/White/Aero/No FSD

Wow! Okay, I thought they would not permit this. Good to know.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

My EDD was initially Dec 19-Jan 5, then moved to Feb-Mar. No change this morning. I ordered at the end of August. SR+, Silver/White, 18". I peeked at existing inventory, but they all have FSD. This makes perfect sense for Tesla, but I don't want/need FSD.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I ordered at the end of August. SR+, 18" Aeros, Gray/White interior. My EDD was Dec 19 to Jan 5. This morning? BOOM! Feb 21- Mar 21! I don't mind too much because I'm more likely to get an EV tax credit. On the other hand, I am liable to burn a lot of time between now and then reading Tesla...
