Auto high beams - am I doing something wrong?

We are the beta testers. Pro: we get to drive a really smart EV; Con: car drives us crazy sometimes

Help me decide on my next tires! (Michelin Cross Climate, Sport Pilot AS, Continental ExtremeContact DWS)

I've had the Michelin Cross Climate 2 full set on my 2022 Model Y-LR on the 19inch wheels for about 1 year now. I live in Colorado at 7500 ft with town at 6500 ft. We have snow up to 6 inches and ice, black ice and slush from about mid-December thru April. I've not had any loss of control...

    Lane Change - Autopilot

Whoops! My apologies. I have driven UK roads and appreciate the difference. Cheers.

Did Tesla take away enhanced autopilot subscription?

EAP sub would be great at, say $99/mo but I'd still be taking it only for road trips, same as I've done in the past with the $199/mo FSD. I no longer pony up for FSD sub because it's only useful in unfamiliar cities or metro regions and plain old Navigate handles locating a Starbucks or a hotel...

    Autopilot

Yeah, AP off the freeway on back roads let alone city streets is quite sketchy. It gets anxious and nervous often, shuts off AP on a whim, messes up if the lane lines are faded, etc. Skip it IMHO.

    Lane Change - Autopilot

Good comments here but seem to be mostly EAP users or Highland. Anyone satisfied with plain Jane AP? I have used it constantly, of course only on freeways but without any problems beyond a few Phantom Braking incidents which I've gotten used to handling. I see no reason to get EAP at least until...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

A couple weeks ago I drove I25 from Colorado Springs thru Santa Fe and back to Durango using AP almost exclusively. There were 2 Phantom Braking incidents and periodic lane confusions when on ramps appeared on the right. Otherwise it was flawless and uneventful. Granted when I wanted to change...

Auto high beams - am I doing something wrong?

The AutoHighBeam function still has a non-operating threshold below 266MPH, even now in December of 2023. I have the same issue as azulejo has with driving on dirt roads at speeds below 26MPH for safety. My neighborhood keeps speeds under 25 to avoid hitting wild animals, mostly deer, which...

Significant improvement on auto high beams

Yes, the AutoHighBeam function has improved significantly. I've come to use it regularly now where it was just an annoyance in past releases. I wish the UI team would allow it to operate at any speed, not just over 25 MPH. Where I drive, there are wild animals, mainly deer, crossing the road...

Subscription or purchase of FSD for 75 year olds

With a break-even at 6.25 years, will you be driving that same car then? If YES then buy it at $12K. If you figure on trading up or out then go subscription. I've subscribed for a few months to try it out and dropped it since then. I'll wait until V12 goes through a few dot releases then try it...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

But seriously folks, I recently stayed at a B&B where my room fronted an alley. An apparently confused (human) driver came down the alley, hit the wrong pedal (gas not brake), made the wrong steering choice, drove right into my room (I was elsewhere) causing some $14,000 damage. The B&B owners...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

Yes and if it will only be safer than humans by a factor of 10 then only 1 tenth of those NYC pedestrians that step out in front of Waymos will be hit. Yay!

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

Isn't Waymo the one that managed to navigate a whole cluster of themselves into a gridlocked intersection in San Francisco? Or was that Cruise that can only drive competently in Chandler AZ? or let's use the Mercedes-Benz version which they tout as L3 but it can only drive in certain cities and...

separate commercial and personal use FSD pricing?

Applying ElonTime Law: (2 weeks x Optimism factor X)^3, where X=52 yields 8years from 2019 means we have FSD-L3 by 2027 - YAY!
  19. tevman

separate commercial and personal use FSD pricing?

Yes, that's a good possibility. I think tiered pricing with controls as you suggest would bring more revenue in. Can't count only on RT revenue. BTW, if an Uber car can make about $5K / month it's only 3 months to pay off today's FSD price. And an RT fleet operator could command a volume price...

    Body work needed

Has anyone in the Denver - Colorado Springs area used Status Symbol Auto Body located in Colorado Springs? Recommended? My 2022 MYLR Deep Metallic Blue needs front left bumper work from a parking lot rash that deformed the seal at the lower edge of the headlight. Appreciate any input, thanks. Steve

I also have seen this behavior before 26.8 and have gotten used to it. another problem with the headlight system is that the Auto setting will not switch to high beams if the car is driving under 20MPH. If anyone knows a trick to get highs under 20 please let me know. thanks.

Installing Wall Connector is better than NEMA 14-50

Thanks jcanoe, that helps a lot in my installation case too. One question: does the 50 AMP breaker with GFCI also have over-heat protection and is that needed? And I assume that GFCI in the breaker protects against both voltage surge and low voltage or brownout, is that right? Cheers and thanks...

    Model Y Service Bulletins

I picked it up at a Sunnyvale delivery location and had 2 issues: dirty handprint on driver side inside A pillar, partially detached cover around inside rear view mirror. Handprint was cleaned, I reported mirror cover which was fixed later. fit and finish was fine.

Should I take delivery of MYLR DBM from Fremont later this month? [Posted March 2023]

If you’re waiting for an Austin build with 4680s and HW4, don’t. The 4680s are lower density than 2170s, first HW4s likely to go on CyberTrucks and latest price drop may not stick around for long. Bird in the hand cliché fits here. Just IMHO.

    FSD

Absolutely safer in cities with FSD. But I just cancelled my subscription and now have 2023.6.11 which I assume is AP in V11 upgraded version. It has some new features: steering wheel heater now has an AUTO setting and will track cabin temperature setting like seats. AP is definitely safer on...

First Time Driving Model Y, Nervous About Regen Braking?

Regen is very smooth and has been for quite a while. I recommend setting Drive Mode (not remembering what the parameter is called) to Hold. Bummer! I’d like to get off the main highways through Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and the Dakotas and Minnesota. If EA ever gets their act together or Tesla buys them out, it might work.

Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

    Unbiased 2-month review of 2022 Model Y

Probably not due to volume of Teslas. But you have an interesting idea in wondering if the dataset that Tesla's compute center is chewing on might be biased by the number of cars in an area. Not that the bias affects PB or other on-board detection systems but it might be causing the NN training...

Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

On FSD, I’ve subscribed for 9 months now and seen it get better. That’s $1,800 to try it out and use it on a number of long road trips. I’ll see how V11 works soon and then will cancel it until the next road trip. Tesla may change the subscription price so I’ll decide then.

Is it worth purchasing a MYP now, even with the old cameras?

Hi Watts_Up, Have you tried the CCS1 adapter? My travels take me thru some pretty barren Supercharger land and I've used the adapter at chargepoint and EA stalls to bridge the gaps if necessary. Yes, EA is CR*P which you cannot count on - even plugshare is not always advised (by EA) of outages...

11.4.4 FSD has become to dangerous to use

FSD Beta 10.69 mishandles intersections often. It moves out a little then hesitates and eventually gets through ok. Sometimes it does a great job and not just by following the car ahead. Other times it seems to get overwhelmed by complex movements of multiple objects like pedestrians walking...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Only that 11.3 has been mentioned so often and for quite awhile which makes me think there are fixes piling up. These will be released to limited testers in a .4 version. FSD Beta 10.69

Just got 2022.44.30.10. It's Thursday 1/19 9am-ish. Dirty Tesla got it Tuesday so it's coming down to us peons now. Looks like V11 will follow 30.10 as maybe 11.4 or .5, not .3 and 2022.44 will stay right ahead of it to make the transition smoother rather than regressing immediately. C'est vrai?
