    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The OP (of this part of the thread) & others, including me, have had instances where the phone failed to work. Sounds like you've been lucky so far. On the other hand, our BMW phone key has never missed a beat but it uses the built-in Apple car key system.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yeah, a backup in terms of everyday use. But primary in the sense that it is the "master" & must always be available if required. Maybe I'm using the wrong words.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Re Tesla considering the key card as the primary method. The manual says, "Always carry your key card with you in your purse or wallet to use as a backup in case your authenticated phone has a dead battery, or is lost or stolen." I've read reports of people saying that they had problems getting...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

You need to carry the card with you. Tesla considers the phone key as the backup with the card as the primary. Do you have a phone case? If so, consider taping a dissolved key card to the inside of the case as your backup.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That would work for me if only the drivers mirror would tilt outwards enough. In any previous car, I could have it point outwards enough to cover two lanes and the traditional “blind spot”. In the MY, it only goes far out enough to see the side of the car and up a narrow lane towards the rear of...

Charging and Payment Apps and other methods

I’m so confused by this thread. I opened it up expecting a discussion on Evie charging. But the discussion is way off topic on trains.

Then why is there a Tesla logo in the top right of this web page? Does Tesla know their registered trademark is being used on this website?

    Superchargers in Australia

When I checked earlier today, the smaller older Port Mac site open to Teslas only had a wait time while the larger newer Port Mac site open to all vehicles had 10 available stalls. Why?

    Charge On Solar Australia

Ours does that sometimes. Could be off peak right now and shoulder peak starts in an hour, so saving the battery for that period? You don’t know the times, costs or expected loads.

    Charge On Solar Australia

I’ve been semi watching this today, using Vostok’s workaround above. I’ve had the system switch back to prioritising the car twice today. I think this has occurred when solar generation > house usage + 5kW. That is, when there’s too much power (> 5kW) to stuff into the Powerwall. To avoid it...

Euro crash tester says carmakers must return to physical controls - Impact on Australia?

In my circle, pretty much everybody looks at ratings. There’s something quite wrong if it’s not a 5.

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

Hmm, I can’t remember exactly what my motor looked like to compare it to yours. I didn’t need washers though… I haven’t yet returned it, it I’m very nervous about anyone else using my frunk, for the sake of their fingers. I have put some sticky warning notes around to keep fingers clear of the...

    Charge On Solar Australia

Yes, still paired. In fact, there's my phone twice. A previous pairing before I deleted the app & reinstalled it which I had to do last time to get the COS option back again. I'll give the unpairing/repairing thing a go.

    Charge On Solar Australia

I’ve just turned off Charge On Solar to see what would happen. Those three dots were there while I had it activated but now that I’ve used the toggle to turn it off, the three dots have disappeared. See attached screenshot. There is once again no way to turn it back on. iOS app version...

    Charge On Solar Australia

Haha, yes. Although I've love to have 500+kW per phase... it would take me half a minute to fill up from empty to full... take that EV haters!
  18. B

    Charge On Solar Australia

Yes. That’s also what I saw today. Three phase remained. Here’s a screen shot of the Wall Monitor app when the car was charging at 1.6kW at three phase off Charge On Solar. You can see that each of the phases is at 500+kW.

    Model 3 side panels

I had very similar damage to my Model Y. Assuming they are similar underneath, which they probably are, then expect about 4 weeks. However, it’s possible your Model 3 may not have the huge megacasted rear end.

Euro crash tester says carmakers must return to physical controls - Impact on Australia?

It works now. This was an undocumented change in one of the recent updates, and comes with a nicely animated change of side camera views. I’ve not seen it mentioned anywhere in writing.
  21. B

    Charge On Solar Australia

Yes but can you then turn it back on? When I tried doing that, I lost all dots and all ability to turn it back on.
  22. B

    Charge On Solar Australia

This is definitely wrong on Tesla’s part. The house battery needs to charge first, since it need to get through the evening peak time. The car can wait and if need be charge overnight. The house battery can’t wait until overnight or we’ll be paying peak hour grid draw in the evening do general...

EV fire case study model 3

I would have been interested in a CliffNotes version of that video. It’s 80 minutes long so a bit hard to find that time, especially in a world where watching videos more than about 3 minutes long not in vertical video format seems insane… :)

    Jolt EV charging network

And don't look at your Tesla screen showing 7kWh added to the battery. Because that means that it's drawn more than 7kWh to put 7kWh into the battery & you've gone over your free limit.

Tesla app controls wonky on screen

No I hadn’t tried that. I’ve just done it so will see how things go. I didn’t think that would do anything given that the app has been updated & presumedly fully redownloaded in the process. I had toyed with delete and reinstall but am a bit scared about what that will do with settings, phone...

Tesla app controls wonky on screen

Hi, on iPhone 15 with always latest iOS update and latest Tesla app updates, and a Model Y, I’ve been having problems with the Tesla app over the past few months. Now, it’s about once every day or so. What happens is that elements of the screen draw incorrectly. Some screen shots below...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I think the features you are expecting are more akin to FSD. Our cars are not equipped with this and you are expecting Autopilot to do more than it is programmed to do. I suggest you have a good read of the manual and what its limitations are.

Need help with EAP (Auto Lane Change specifically)

Mine still requires the slight steering wheel force to be applied. With 2024.2.3. I prefer it this way. There’s a setting in the autopilot menu somewhere.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That was probably the intention but the practice was different. You could set the speed offset while in “current speed limit”, then change to “current speed” and the offset would hold. Now, the offset changes to 0 km/hr. It was probably a bug that I had exploited and they’ve fixed the bug.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I’ve just updated as well. Two other changes I’ve noticed: (1) Turning on auto navigate on highways (using EAP) has two ding noises whereas it was previously three dings; (2) it was previously possible to set TACC to have a fixed offset from the identified speed limit for when you long press the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That's awesome, I didn't know we had that. It was great having that on our previous car. I suppose this only happens if we have the recirculate air function switched to auto. I've found that the AC likes having recirculation on a lot to help with cooling the car & maintaining the coolness during...

    Satonic Soft Close Frunk

Yes and this worries me with the thing I just installed. Might be okay here in Sydney, but what’s going to happen when we drive to the snowfields in winter, especially when I have potential skeptics in the car with me.

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

I’m not sure because I tested it only after installation & there was only enough play in the cable to move slightly. I just had a look at the Tlyard version and the mechanism of sucking the frunk hood closed is similar to my Satonic V2, except that the Tlyard version is a single piece design. I...

    Satonic Soft Close Frunk

I've just installed the Satonic soft frunk close kit V2 & written a few comments here. I wonder whether it's possible to merge the two threads?

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

Ok. I had a clear couple of hours last night. So I ended up spending 4 hours on this. And now have a sore back. I have the Satonic V2, which is a two piece design. A motor unit pulls a cable connected via a latch attachment unit to use the factory latching system to pull the frunk closed. After...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

I haven't connected the V2 to power, so I don't know what that release cable does. On the floor, the release cable connects to the motor unit & pulling the cable only moves it about 5mm before it hits a hard endpoint. I don't have a 12-16V power supply to test it without putting it in the car...

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

I’ve not been able to find a clear picture of the actual closing mechanism for this version. I have the Satonic V2 but am holding off installing it while deciding if I’m brave enough. The V2 has a cable with a loop on the end that loops onto part of the OEM latch. The only part that makes...

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

Yes. Latest version accessible to me anyway. App version 4.29.5-2203. The one where the release notes say that the powerwall widget should be available. Did a full restart of the iPhone 15 Pro.
  44. B

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

Yes. And latest iOS. However, powerwall firmware version 23.36.3. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. When I add a widget, instead of the screenshot shown above in the OP, where there are 4 dots (2 = vehicle status; 2 = home status), I only have the 2 dots for vehicle status. After adding the widget, I can’t swipe sideways within the widget.
  46. B

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

Not showing up on mine despite latest versions of iOS & Tesla app, and of course a Powerwall. Tried rebooting. I still only see options for adding the car widgets. Do I have to log out of the Tesla app & back in again? (Will this ruin my phone key?)

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

When did you install it? If it was last year (2023), then it was probably a V1. I've just had the V2 delivered... debating if & when to install it.

Why you should skip the powered frunk and grab a Satonic soft close frunk

Could you please clarify what you had installed? You've described here an auto frunk, but your photos show what appears to be a auto soft close unit rather than the full auto frunk (open & close type). Was this a Satonic brand V1?
