Does anyone know when Gretna is due to be operational? Seems to have been a good while. Thanks.

Guess so. There was I thinking I'd been good, but I don't think it would have/ could have been any slower.

Probably classed as off topic but we used Scotch Corner twice this weekend. No queueing but only got 60kw/h from the SC. Momentarily upto 90 when the car next to us left. That was with preconditioning and 10%. Think I was hoping for better/ faster. On the upside saw a new LHD X.

Thanks for the above. Not so sure what the status is re charging in York, and won't have a load of time to horse about trying and failing. Hence the keep it simple idea!! If the trip goes smoothly I could juice up at scotch corner there and back, or if we are in York on "fumes" then Harrogate...

Hopefully not too much off topic. We are heading to York this weekend from Scotland. I wondered how busy the Harrogate super chargers tend to be? Small diversion to fill up to the brim and head home when we leave. Avoids the Sunday Tebay rush. Maybe!! Anyone? Anyone?

    Salary sacrifice prices

Gotcha. 561 for RWD 661 for LR 749 for P All on the Y. Always worth checking.
  7. Carts850

    Salary sacrifice prices

I can only see £550 a month on Tesla with £5k down. Plus then you're paying your own tyres and insurance .

    Salary sacrifice prices

I guess the main potentially huge variable is the tax bracket you fall in. Probably should compare gross to have apples v apples. MY LR is 846 gross for 48m/7.5k no options as above

I should add the P is plenty more before you go crackers. I do enjoy the word "rinsed" though!!

Y - LR - in white with no extras. On Tusker. 36 months 10k 513 48 months 10k 487 48 months 5k 453 All net of course, and I am lucky enough to pay extra Scottish tax. Last month the 3 needed 4 new tyres. Almost a £1k.

My 3 is with Zenith. Work have now changed to Tusker. The Y will be with them. I'll try and run a quote now.

Sorry yes that's what I meant really. Snagged my M3 in December 21. Had it 2 years with 1 more to go. Get a Y next week. Added some stuff to it but could have been sub £500 a month. LR again.

Agree. The gross figures are crazy, but that's where someone is making some serious money. I, and my colleagues, can only really concern yourself with the net figure, the effect on your pay. Some guys grabbed Taycans for £600 a month net a couple of years back. My model 3LR is £375 a month over...

    2024 Shipping Movements

Would anybody know if my car is here or still on a boat? Delivery date to my house is 22nd Feb. I asked if getting from the dealer (Glasgow) was any faster and was told it EOYR be the same date. Just wondered if that meant it was on land or I should be stalking a ship. It's a Y. Thanks all.

[UK] 2024 Order to Delivery discussion

Am I being daft? My app now says delivery scheduled, I have a vin and a reg, but when I click on delivery scheduled there is no date for when it is scheduled, it just says my address, which I know already!!

    2024 Shipping Movements

Thanks guys. In a fit of rage I checked Tusker again and the price has dropped a lot so, probably shooting myself in the foot a little, I've cancelled my order and re-ordered the same car. Grey, white seats, normal wheels, towbar. See what these ships bring. Or what they don't bring!!

    2024 Shipping Movements

Hi, not sure if anyone has some wisdom here. Ordered a Y via Tusker on 22/1/24 and the app showed delivery Jan/ Feb 2024. Excitement ahoy. However overnight the delivery date has changed to June -September 2024. This wasn't really the plan. I'm still hopeful that 2 boats will arrive with my...

    Rear motor failure. Model 3.

There is an invoice in the app (£0) for an inverter and some other bits I’ve never heard of. Guess it’s more now about how long the parts take. I found out how to use tow/ transport mode though and the towing eye!!!

    Rear motor failure. Model 3.

Sad times, My Dec 2021 M3LR died today. Rear motor failure. It’s currently left where it stopped half sticking out of a junction with hazards on. Glad it wasn’t on a M’way as I had no time at all. It just stopped. Screen had lots of warnings - it also said reduced performance was possible but it...

    2 Year Checkup

I thought a brake inspection was recommended after a year or was it after 10k? Either way, mine needed it.

    PCH Early return?

Pretty sure it’s expected to be back to factory state when you give back. That’s why I didn’t bother with tints etc. The aero trims are in the garage ready for 2 years time. The wood dash covers I got will come off easily, so that was £40 well spent to hide the wood. Some stuff on your list...

FWIW. After my brake service they are really good again. A year of hardly any use did them no good whatsoever.

[uk] Public charging - the media may have a point

I’ve moaned about this before. Fully agree. Gretna - in the rainy darkness and a full carpark, I had no idea how to queue. Carnage. The next car that could have driven around the corner as a car pulled away from a charger might have thought “perfect timing”, why should he / she then have to...

Final test drive tomorrow am I making the right decision

200 miles on an electric tank is easy, even on a road trip at minus 4. As mentioned, biggest problem is you can only fit 35% recharge in the cheap 4 hours of octopus charging.

    Brakes are terrible

Had mine in today at Tesla Glaz Vegas for brakes stripped, cleaned and serviced. New rear tyres and wipers. 14,500 miles. Much improved I must say. Now I’ll probably not use the brakes for another year!!
  30. Carts850

    Brakes are terrible

I really hardly use the brakes on the other car (admittedly an auto) and would go 100 miles on a motorway without touching them but it would still stop (quick) if needed. Maybe as per above they’re a bit weak, but I’m sure they’ve got a lot worse. Maybe I’ve goosed them with lack of use. Shall...

    Brakes are terrible

Just went to Kwikfit to have them at least eyeball the discs/ pads as a mate of mine thinks they’re shot. “We aren’t allowed to touch brakes on hybrids” I told him it wasn’t a hybrid. “We aren’t allowed to touch brakes on electric cars” So looks like it needs to go a dealer. It’s a salary...

    Brakes are terrible

No, I’ve had some comedy close calls when I’ve charged to 100%!! But this is with decent regen but the occasional need to anchor quicker. Errant child or animal etc

    Brakes are terrible

Not sure how recently this has been the case but the brakes on our M3 seem to have become absolutely useless. To shave any speed off it’s like trying to get the brake pedal all the way to the floor and hoping for the best. Sure they don’t get used a whole lot, but our other car is a 2.5/ 3 ton...

    Nightmare! (Supercharger queues)

Whilst queuing has been mentioned. The last time I was trying to charge at Gretna they were all full. But it really wasn’t clear how to actually queue. Park and hope? Pitch black and raining. If you timed it perfectly and drove around to the chargers just as someone left you’d really not know...

    Frozen windscreen washers

After a successful syphon, and windscreen wash transplant, I can confirm that all is now well in the world and it was minus 8/9 here today.

    Frozen windscreen washers

I’m home now so will warm, syphon, and empty tmrw. Never thought of the lack of engine heat. Idiot.

    Frozen windscreen washers

I had a couple of decent squirts, if you will, as I first departed so had hoped that had got the good blue stuff into the pipes. Either way, it was having none of it the whole trip. Just me? And bad windscreen wash?
  40. Carts850

    Frozen windscreen washers

Not sure I’m being a bit daft here. Did the drive from Yorkshire to Scotland today. Topped up the windscreen wash with some blue stuff (good for minus 4 I think I said). The temp outside was around minus 2 for most of the trip. At worst it was minus 8. But the whole trip no windscreen washer...

Setting up charging for off-peak time

it took me a while to roughly work out that I think I’ve got an approx 80kw batt. 7kw per hour for 4 hours. 28kw. 35% So I move the charge limit to whatever it’s on plus 35. I’ve occasionally forgotten! Or left it at 65% when I’ve been charging elsewhere and come back expecting a fully charged...

Share experience selling used car on Motorway and Webuyanycar

I found Motorway awful. Lot of admin and photos to get the show started. Got what I thought was a good offer, but as above, turned out to be a “hoped for reserve”. Eventual auction was at least £2000 below. Went to WBAC and actually got more than promised (car was 3 month old Mini - E). And the...

    Attitude of some people..

Surely there was a problem, in that the Tesla supercharger at that location doesn’t charge non Tesla cars. So the Porker shouldn’t have been there taking up any space at all. If it had worked on non Tesla, then fine, OP would’ve had to suck it up.

Anybody have an X on order for the U.K.?

Thanks all. Very helpful. Not ordered anything. Only got current M3LR Dec 21. Currently doing some tyrekicking, but quite fancy the MX. Not withstanding the issues mentioned above. Which may/ may not be resolved in the next 18 months!!

Anybody have an X on order for the U.K.?

As long as the next car does a - I quote “tummy flip” when it goes fast then my two kids are content. So they say anyway! I’ve read enough tales to not fancy a used one, and our M3LR is with us for 60 odd (I think) more weeks. Tested a Taycan but was a little underwhelmed. Back to the drawing...

Anybody have an X on order for the U.K.?

Hi, I’ve done some googling and searching, nothing immediate was useful. Maybe just because nobody knows anything. Does anybody here in the U.K. have an idea how many months/ years the Model X is from arriving on these shores? My M3 goes back next December and all of a sudden that’s not long in...
