Clunk noise during left turn into an incline - anyone the same?

It is most likely the sway bar end links. There are upgrade kits online and it takes 10 mins with hand tools to replace them each side. They have crappy joints in them that wear out and the replacement aftermarket ones are much beefier.

Does a Tesla need to “warm up?”

I would say it does have to warm up for peak performance. Interestingly I always found the car was faster when it was warming up for a super charge. Now, with track mode, you can hear the battery go into the same warming cycle so we know its true.

    Your car rattles? Too bad…

So, kudos to my 11yo daughter. She was back there and tracked it down to the rear headrest. Turns out if they are left up they rattle, they rattle a tiny bit in the fully down position. It was right behind my head, sounded like the top of the hatch.

    Your car rattles? Too bad…

I'm glad I found this thread. I have a rattle in MY tailgate that is new. Guess it's up to me to pull it apart and find it. Very love/hate on the Tesla experience so far.

FS in SEPA: 2022 MYP Uberturbines w/Pirellis, tpms and lugnuts $2222 obo

The best I can do is advise you to make an offer via direct message and let me know if you need me to shlep them to Jersey included in that price.

FS in SEPA: 2022 MYP Uberturbines w/Pirellis, tpms and lugnuts $2222 obo

Pulled off in October with 681 miles. Immaculate. Stored in temp controlled basement all winter. Decided to keep winter/all season setup. Have pickup can deliver reasonable distance from Malvern PA. Led lights in shop make color look weird, but they are stock deep gray/black.

MYP Towing Square Wheel Setup - prefer to go to 20's

The load rating is more than enough on any tires rated for the MYP and there is not much tongue weight capacity so I wouldn't worry about adding extra width (350# only adds 175# max per rear tire.) I tow great with my square 19" setup on MPS AS4+. I probably go over the tongue weight slightly...

MYLR goes right on highway entrance lanes on Autopilot

I hate this issue, I have it on two wide merges on the way home. It seems so easily fixable, not that I am much of a coder: "IF sensor sees entrance lane THEN stay near left line UNTIL lane narrows.

Michelin Pilot All Season 4 thoughts

They are great for the medium-low snow we get here in PA, you could easily run them all year. Now, a "normal" winter in Laramie, WY... I don't know....

Slipping in highway during winter - Regenerative driving problem

I have 19" Mich PSAS4's as my "winter" tires here in PA as swap outs for the stock MYP summer performance 21" set. I could easily run them all year, they are great. I'll bet dollars to donuts that they fix this problem with an update and "snow mode" if not soon, certainly by next winter.

    Strength of Regenerative braking

You will be fine in a week or two. I am 3 months in and the only super minor issue I have is that as the weather changes the regen changes somewhat dramatically so sometimes I let off the throttle too quickly expecting a lower level of regen and it comes on stronger than I would like. I would...

Ordered MYP and am looking for options of 19" wheels that clear the bigger brakes.

Tirerack will tell you which wheels will fit the MYP also. I got some Einkei Vulcans that fit everything fine for my winter swap outs.

    Model Y ride comfort?

Apples to apples to what? So I'm a '90s guy who had an Eagle Talon TSI AWD Turbo and a Mitsu 3000gt VR4 but I have no complaints for a car that is as fast to 60 as a Porsche 959 and rides at least as well as those two 90's cars I had and has about 4 billion advantages to those cars. (TLDR: I'm...

    Stupid questions…

If you read/watch some of the track test reviews many of them say it would handle better with a square setup because the way it is setup makes it push (understeer) way too much into the corners.
  15. M

    Stupid questions…

I have a MYP and went to a square setup for winter tires, square setup is better for a number of reasons that you can research online (tire rotation, better limit handling on the Y). I don't know why you would want to go staggered? Don't get me wrong or let me dissuade you, just my 2 cents.

    Vehicle Hold Feature unavailable

I've noticed that the hold feature actually moves the brake pedal inside the cabin, which surprised me. Any chance either of you inadvertently obstructed it's movement and caused it to error out temporarily?

How does phone app connect to the car?

Is there any chance you are having the "edge of wifi" issue where the car thinks it is still connected to wifi but isn't and does not try to use cellular? I have that in my driveway 50' from house.

Model Y - Just OK cold weather car

My post wasn't about heat creation efficiency. It gets plenty hot, just none of it is directed at my feet!

    PSA: Bed in your brakes

There are many different ways to bed in brakes. The method you state is very hard to do on congested roads, and not necessarily the safest. Applying gas and brakes a few times does the same thing, though it's not possible in the Tesla apparently. All you are doing is mating to surfaces by...

    PSA: Bed in your brakes

I tried to bed them in right away but the Tesla won't let you use the gas and brake at the same time. Now that it's really cold and regen isn't really working most mornings the brakes have been properly bedded.

    Buying Michelin Pilot AS4

I sucked it up and got AS4s and wheels in a different size and everything was in stock. Yes it's an extra grand but you have two sets of tires and wheels and theoretically they will last twice as long swapping them out winter/summer.

Model Y - Just OK cold weather car

I'd like to second everything OP said and also add that my feet are always cold no matter what I do when it is below 30 out. Definitely not designed or thoroughly tested in a winter environment. We also have an LR4 (almost the same as RRsport in mechanicals) and it just kills it in the winter...

    Lane Departure Warning Always On

Just be glad you aren't in the Northeast where it thinks every line and crack in the road from repaving or water line work is "the" line it shouldn't cross. I swear they should have designed it to work in northern Maine and then SoCal would be no problem for it.

Was adding air to my tires via 12v inflator, and stranger tells me to turn on my engine

The title made me chuckle, take my like. I was thinking about the running in the garage thing the other day and if anyone would freak out about that. Too funny. My wife simply cannot handle the fact that it's always "On." She has asked 50 times how do you turn it off?

    Model Y Performance AS Tires

I ponied up for wheels and tires and was able to get MPS AS4's in 19" with only minimal trouble, Costco said they had them and then did not so I spent like $100 more from Tirerack. 21's are lower volume so they aren't getting the production time in these tough times.

Suggestions for selling MYP OEM 21 Turbine Wheels/Tires set up

It depends where you are. Major metro market you can get $2250-2500 on FB marketplace pretty quickly. I took mine off within 800 miles because of the summer tires and replaced them with 19" Einkies and PS+4 for winter and don't notice any negative differences in performance unless you really...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

I find the Tesla more calming in traffic. I had the 2016 x6 so who knows about the noise, I didn't find it tomb-like as my 2013 was. My 2013 X6 had the BEST seats and the old BMW leather smell that is now gone. Yes, the thigh side bolsters in the Tesla could be wider. I'm 6' 180# and it fits...

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Not for me, one pedal driving is a god send in stop and go. And anywhere for that matter. Life changing once you get used to it.

Suitability of Model Y for the daily grind of NYC commuting?

Former X6 50i owner and somewhat frequent NYC traffic knife fighter here: Get a MYP and also some 19" wheels and tires, sell the 21's that come with it. You won't look back There are only 4 things I miss from my X6 (slightly higher in traffic, better blind spot warning, better wiper washer...

    Home Charging Installation Location Question

This is why I did not install it in that location. In our house with my kids and wife it is a sure bet the cable would be damaged. Went with the corner of the side wall, can reach 2 bays. Also, if your panel is in the garage already those prices seem really high. I had mine run from the...

Range on road trip much lower than expected (<200 miles on full charge)

My comment wasn't about the thread title, it was all the people in this thread saying the EV makers are "liars" or not "honest." How is that unique to EV's? How is that any different than my Gladiator that allegedly gets 22 highway and has never see the other side of 18? It's in the fine print...

Range on road trip much lower than expected (<200 miles on full charge)

That's not really fair. If you drive 60%/40% city/hwy you can get pretty close: https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/tested-2021-tesla-model-y-long-range-falls-short-of-epa-range-estimate.html Most people still have a "gas mentality" and can't make the mental switch.

Do Not Understand Tesla Rationale for Why There is No Sirius/XM in Model 3 or Y

This is the actual answer to OP's question. Sirius and Tesla couldn't come to a business deal. (or the above, Musk had something to do with it or both) I've gotten used to streaming on the app and the quality is much better anyway plus it's not another "vehicle" that they would charge you for...

Range on road trip much lower than expected (<200 miles on full charge)

Like hybrids, electric cars get max range in city driving, not highway. The reverse of what you are used to.

Constantly changing regen braking (since FSD enabled)

Mine has been doing it more and more since I got it in mid Nov but I figured it was the lower temps here in NE and changing my charge setting to 85 vs 65. It does not seem to be a safety issue for me other than using the breaks slightly more than before.

    Blind Spot Monitoring

And yeah BSM flat out blows a flute. I'm supercharging on a long drive through North Jersey now and it doesn't do sheet. That and climate control were way better in the BMW but overall this car is better in every single other way. I'm pretty sure my car wants to freeze my feet no matter what I...

    Preconditioning battery when unplugged.

The only reason I find it relevant is that you are going to use the energy from the plug one way or another, weather it comes from the plug now or later so I always leave it plugged in, might as well use the outside power vs the battery unless you have a substantially different off hours rate.

    Electrician screening

This thread really shows how you always have to get three quotes for anything on your house. To upgrade my panel and put in the charger my estimates ranged from 2500 to over 6500 for an utterly worhtless "smart panel." The $2500 guy did an outstanding job, his guys were super nice and obviously...

Pressing button to remove charge cable? How many times?

Some times I have to press the charging cable button like 4-5 times to get the car to wake up and release it. Does this happen to anyone else? Maybe I need to open the door first to wake it up and then take it out? But that is bass ackward.

    Blind Spot Monitoring

I'm digging up this thread because the blind spot monitoring in my MY is worthless. Corrective steering applied, off road detected

The algorithms must be for nice, well kept CA roads or something. Around here in PA where the water company is tearing up the side of just about every roads digging trenches and filling them my MY always thinks I'm over the line, but its looking at the wrong line. Plus, half our roads don't...

Question about fancy "Tesla" USB SSD that comes with MY and dashcam in general

Question about fancy "Tesla" USB SSD that comes with MY and dashcam in general

This fancy 128GB Tesla branded USB stick that now apparently comes with the car already in the glovebox. Is it any good? Google didn't really help.
