    Steer by wire, dead battery?

I'll be good with it after it has a long track record. In service hours will make a believer out of me. It's the only reason I trust airlines. Trust me - it isn't because of the Government.

    Steer by wire, dead battery?

Not a silly thing to worry about at all. About as sober as worrying about fly by wire in airplanes - one of the most safety critical systems out there. I would hope Tesla did quite a bit of worrying about it.

The Cybertruck is more expensive to supercharge than a Ford F-150 costs in gas

I consider that a subset of the "glutton for punishment category". As to your other comments, I just frankly don't care about your specific politics. I'm just here for the car man.

Service Center Totaled my 2023 MXLR

What he spent is irrelevant from the "deal" perspective. He'll get his car replaced with a substantially identical new model and pocket tens of thousands of dollars. Only a fool would call that a "loss".

The Cybertruck is more expensive to supercharge than a Ford F-150 costs in gas

Never once did I get 24mpg in my 3.5L Eco F150. Still a great truck. But if you buy an EV and can only supercharge, you are stupid or just a glutton for punishment

Service Center Totaled my 2023 MXLR

You definitely got the better end of that deal.

Wiki Model X Order/Delivery Tracking - Google Sheet

I have no real clue, but there are a lot of common parts across all models, some of which changed with CT. I have no idea why they started caring about model years all of a sudden, but I'm in the has to be a reason camp. It's exciting. I've been speculating that they wanted to debut new tech...

What income to afford a Plaid?

When you don't HAVE TO borrow anything to pay for it. Until then you have no business buying any expensive car (from a financial perspective).

Model X Plaid : Track Package and CCBs

After having my X plaid for 2 months now I can say, who would track this thing? I just can't envision it, it's not that kind of vehicle IMHO.

2016 Model-X Catastrophic failure of rear control arm

It's normal. Wheels fall off all cars after 7 years.

Will/Can Plaid Prices go lower? (Considering ordering,, or wait?)

I don't think this shows what you think it shows. You said limited motor amps until 60. It shows the opposite. It shows full torque available until 60 and then torque dropping off. This is a graph of power, not torque.

What's the consensus on buying a used Model X? Need some advice

Don't buy a car now for the one kid you don't have. Just get a 3, wait for highland if you want. If and when you need 3 car seats in the car, then we'll talk. Source: did 3 car seats.

Will/Can Plaid Prices go lower? (Considering ordering,, or wait?)

For me, better camera resolution is worth it alone. I really enjoy the camera display on my 23-X HW4 vs my 21-3 HW3.

    Market value for Plaid

This argument is so tiring. Elon is not trying to be like Porsche, rather he wants everyone in an EV and high prices is the #1 barrier to that.
  16. E

    23 MX vs 23 MXP

That's a significant discount from new price - somewhere around $20k. If I had a friend that I trust selling a like new MXP for even a $5k discount from new., I'd probably would have bought that instead of my new one. But ultimately it is potentially $15k more than what you would pay for your...

Vibration in pedal and yoke steering

Me too, one week old plaid. Somewhere right around the 45mph range. Was thinking about taking it in for a road-force tire balance at a tire shop. Is that a waste of time?

MXP roof glass damaged in transport

They had it ready Monday and I took delivery. Turned out fine. Love the vehicle. I liked the 3 but this is much nicer.

    Final Trade-In Offer 25% Less

I think KBB just refers you out to legacy dealerships, so you maybe at the mercy of any less than reputable dealership games.
  20. E

    Final Trade-In Offer 25% Less

Did you try vroom, carvana, kbb instant offer? Some post here has a more exhuastive list. KBB instant offer gave me a price barely more than Tesla, but within the hour 3 kbb affiliated dealerships called me offering more. I've sold 3 cars to Carvana and the process is dumfoundingly easy.

MXP roof glass damaged in transport

Had an MXP scheduled for delivery on Saturday, but got a call the day before that the truck damaged the roof glass. The service center rep sounded knowledgeable; said as far as replacement goes the FWD roof glass is easy as it is bolt on, and the middle applique is the only part mastic'd in...

    Final Trade-In Offer 25% Less

Did you get other offers? Practically every other car buying service offered me more than Tesla for my '21 3SR+. I just removed the trade in from the reservation on the app and sold to Carvana for 10% more (about $30k).
  23. E

    Market value for Plaid

Yup. If it were me and I thought the car should be totaled, I would authorize the repair shop for tear down and inspect only.

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

I think you've been sniffing too much pepper Mr. Spicy. You are the one waiting for a better price. My point is further price drops are doubtful and the price has, in fact, gone up a bit since the drop. My X plaid was ordered the day of the drop and is estimated to be delivered next week.
  26. E

Will/Can Plaid Prices go lower? (Considering ordering,, or wait?)

Ha ... no. Any die hard yoke hater will just factor in the price adjustment of the steering wheel change when deciding which car to buy. No such service is available for accident history erasure, unfortunately.
  27. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Plus $250 order fee, minus referral credit which is now only $500. So effectively $500 more than the day after they dropped the price.

    Model S might be…. Better?

I would describe myself as very sensitive to motion sickness. I don't get sick when I am at the steering wheel of a car or the yoke of an airplane (unless doing steep turns repeatedly). I think my muscle memory is expecting the resulting geforces. The only thing I can think of that is...
  29. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Good luck. I have a feeling he X price drop had the intended effect, and maybe even too much. The price of a yoked Model X has effectively increased $1250 since the price drop already.
  30. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

So no Ford either? They raised truck prices and then lowered them. Or is it only stuff you got burned on personally?
  31. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

And it would have had exactly the same effect to the value of used cars, and that is, understandably, what the real complaint is. Everyone knew the Model X price would drop, your "leak" if you will was rising inventory levels. That was the market signaling that the real market value of the...

Sad about Plaid? Attention past or present Porsche 911 Owners!

If you want a 911, I say get it while you can. The writing is on the wall and ICE vehicles are (unnecessarily if you ask me) going the way of the dodo bird. Halo ICE cars will probably go first. And when they do stop making the halo gasoline cars you can bet they will appreciate in value...

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

I think what people don't realize is this is just the cars seeking its market price given the demand, the current money supply, and the volume of production. The people arguing against it are really arguing that Telsa should cut prodcution instead to keep the supply low, and thus the keep the...

That's a pretty good deal at only $2,120 more than a brand new one.

Model X price cuts- yet again

waitingfortelsa shows 141 S and a couple hundred X right now. Cars come and go from inventory. I think it is how Tesla tries to keep things hidden, but that is just a guess.
  37. E

Model X price cuts- yet again

It's $81,630, and not cheaper than an S. It's only $68,590 on the 6th Tuesday of the month. You got to read the fine print.

    Market value for Plaid

The collateral is destroyed, the insurance company pays the bank. The bank can let you pay it off as normal, or declare you in default and demand the $30k. They won't get it if you don't have it or don't want to pay it, and they have no collateral so its now an unsecured loan. Or you...
  39. E

    Market value for Plaid

Realistically it's $90,630 since you'd be a complete buffoon to not account for destination charge or order fee. :)

Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

You know its coming. Now that the the 3 has it, I'm sure the S/X/Y will at some point. There are rumors of an X minor front refresh on twitter.
  41. E

    Market value for Plaid

Help me understand the logic. If I understand, you are afraid to drive it, presumably because you might total it, but why? If you wreck it the insurance payout is supposed to go the bank, or to the guy repairing your car. If it is totaled they pay for a replacement and you are made whole...

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Quit focusing on yourself. The world is bigger than you. Yes, sellers lose when this happen, but buyers gain. Be happy for others. You bitch this much about stocks too? My advice is don't buy a $100k car if you can't stomach losing value. Stick to CDs, Bonds and Government securities.
  43. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Tesla *is* because of the guy in the driver's seat. You know they are good because other manufacturers are rushing to adopt their innovations. Ford is aligning with direct sales of their EVs as best as they can, adopting NACS, pursuing giga-casting. Telsa has upset the industry. Same with...
  44. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

I largely agree. Since all plans are made by humans, no plan is perfectly executed. Did Ford do good raising the Lightning base price from $40k to $60k only to drop to $50k? No, they lost me as a customer because of it, and I loved Ford trucks. How about almost everyone's choice to use the...

Trading 1.5 month old Model y for Model X

Incorrect. The credit is one per vehicle. He can claim both. Note that the credit doesn't carry over though so you would have to have a tax liability of at least $15k.
  46. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Yeah Porsche is probably better. They cater to a different kind of customer in a different market segment. My take is Telsa's goal is to flood the world with EVs. You are going to have to drop prices to do that. Also every dollar that goes into customer service is a dollar they can't use to...

Trading 1.5 month old Model y for Model X

Generally speaking you are better off selling your car to someone other than Tesla. They really don't want your car and it shows. I ordered an X plaid, and put my 21 SR in for trade valuation, but I am expecting they come back with a low-ball. I'll likely sell to carvana or private party.
  48. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

It certainly does offer guaranteed price protection, but you usually pay for that privilege. And the no buy out option rubs me the wrong way. You pays your money and you takes your chance
  49. E

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

I disagree. The rebates vary, but they were pretty much a permenant thing before the pandemic, and are coming back to it. It is just the way the manufacturer adjusts the MSRP based on excess invenotry without adjusting the MSRP. Tesla does the same thing, but without rebates. And I thank...
