    40.X and steering Wheel weight?

Too bad they don't follow their own rules then. If you place both hands on the wheel you get constantly nagged, but if you use one-hand you no longer get the nags. My dad complains when I drive him around now that I need to keep both hands on the wheel, but I told him that the smartest car...

Tesla self-parking RHD - lagging way behind the competition

I would have thought they would move these along at the same pace. What's the point of driving into the city if you can't park when you get there? And have the car come pick you up with all your packages in a torrential downpour (summon)? Screw the Ford kick lifter for the trunk after getting...

Tesla Not Allowing Order Hold for M3LR

They had this issue at the end of last year... people kept pushing their orders hoping for the "imminent" January 2022 tax credit that never materialized. If you don't like the policy this year you have the people who did this last year to blame. Personally, I don't understand it. If you want...

2022 or 2023 [will a model 3 delivered in Nov of this year be a 2022 or 2023 model?

I certainly wouldn't wait on it if you want/need the car. Whatever comes in 2023 could be worse than what you might get now. I took delivery of a 2022 VIN in "late" November 2021. My car still had the data ports in the console (YAY!) which were removed in some of the late December deliveries. I...

While this seems logical, you really do want the mobile team to do this for you because they will program it before they leave and verify it is working - which they can't do if it's installed at the shop.

What I learned about the buying process from Ordering to Delivery

When I picked mine up there was one delivery guy working with some other people, but when he saw us looking at the car, he unlocked it for us and let us sit in it while he finished up with them and got our paperwork ready. We had plenty of time to walk around it and check out the interior before...

    Windshield

I agree that this might be a blessing - the Tesla windshields are not the best. I do 90% highway driving, and 50% of it is under construction. My windshield is cratered like the moon, and I've already patched 3 cracks in it since getting the car less than a year ago.

    Road surface mapping capability?

I read that recently too. I don't think the Model 3 has the adaptive suspension that the S and X have though. Everyone writing the articles acts like it's pothole avoidance, but not really. However, if they are mapping it for this then they could add the avoidance to FSD in the future...

What I learned about the buying process from Ordering to Delivery

My delivery slot was moved 2x after I confirmed a date and time, but each time they reached out to move it. If it's only a day or so just be sure to reach out if they don't so they know you're still waiting. Otherwise, hang in there, it should resolve itself before you know it.

Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

If you're struggling with the score and the follow distance in particular, then go find some heavy traffic, get in the middle/ left lane (to prevent any merging issues), set your follow distance to max and turn on AP. Note the distance that it keeps between itself and the cars in front of you...

Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

I disagree. Other than the 100 miles on AP requirement, TACC and AP are not required to maximize the safety score. AP is very useful in traffic when someone is about to cut you off since it will absorb the "too close" ding from that. I drove most of my 99% scored miles myself once I found the...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

I never saw the point of the safety score or why they turn it off when you get the beta. Anyone can game the system to get a decent score and keep it. It's not hard. What I don't understand is why people go to all the trouble to get the beta just to run their car into scenarios they know the...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

You can clearly see the car drifting away from the left line and out of the center of the lane when he starts saying "woah woah woah". I'm somewhat new to FSDb and I would never let my car drift out of the lane that far, even on a highway. It constantly wants to do dumb things and I have to...

Currently testing out this one myself. There are things I like about it and things that I don't. For instance, it sits too close to the steering wheel on the top left side to do portrait mode, but it does work well in landscape mode.

    Daily Efficency on long commute

You can setup one of the trip odometers to track your usage and not reset it for a while. Cold weather will definitely have an impact on the range (not the commute though). You'll have to play around with the AC/Heat settings on different commutes to see what works best for you (or just use...

    2021 Model 3 LR vs 2020 Performance

There's an older thread on this, but I agree with everyone else. If you plan to track the car, get the Performance. I went with the LR and it is a great car. You can get the $2K boost if you want some more performance from it. The extra range is also nice. While I don't need the range for my...

Anyone know what Tesla charges to replace a Model 3 cabin air filter?

I just had this done this week via mobile service and it was $133.75 before tax. They cleaned the coils and replaced the filters. I wanted them to do it so I could watch to see how much of a hassle it was. Next time I might do it myself. On a separate note, the tech showed up in a Model S...

When was the Month that 2022 model delivered in 2021?

My 2022 VIN was delivered around Thanksgiving 2021. I ordered mid-October, but times were a little shorter then. I was quoted end of December as the original delivery date. I missed out on the new AMD but the console USB ports support data and controllers which is a win to me.

This ^^ Don't underestimate the effect of cold weather. Another option would be to rent one and see how it does on your commute. I have a similar commute and I went with the LR. I live in a warmer climate, but it does get cold at times. The LR was the right option for me because of traffic...

It did this consistently (hard stop) in the main releases prior to whatever was out in May 2022. When that release came out it seemed to be able to "see" the brake lights ahead and very consistently slowed in time gradually for a smooth stop. This is in stop and go as well as into completely...

Middle of the Lane and Brake Lights Issues

Mine doesn't drift much on the highway, but on a two-lane road it seems to hug the center a little too close for comfort at times. I have the max distance set and it creeps up behind the car ahead and moves to the center like it wants to pass on a solid yellow line even though everyone is...

95+ score and no FSD Beta today?

I disagree. I use the brake pads occasionally and don't get the aggressive braking. Sometimes, but most often not, you just have to manage the stop. A few yellow light surprises and yes you can get that. None of this seems to be much of an issue if you drive far enough. I drive roughly 500...

Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

Not yet, but I'll be up there at some point. Driving through Orlando on the I-4 is exactly the same as driving in N.VA/DC (where I grew up). Just turn on the NOA and let it do the work in heavy traffic. You don't get dinged while it's running. I use NOA and nudge it along with the accelerator...

I keep my foot near the accelerator when on AP. I never disengage it for a PB event and just press the accelerator to keep it moving along. OP: My experience is similar to yours. I drive 120 miles a day and use AP for roughly 60% of it and my safety score is 99. I've even taken several trips to Orlando and the dreaded I-4 through Disney and still came back out with a 99 score. I was certain it would drop to 98 or 97 with all that...

100% agree with this. I live in a very rural area. I removed it because the whole point for me was having the light at night. Depending on the color you choose you can barely see it during the day. So turning it on and off was not an option even though there is a button on the cord. I...

Model 3 DIY Light kits: Review and installation tips, with pics

I used the Kikimo strips from Amazon for mine. I got the console strip on fairly easily by trimming the tab off the light strip where it goes around the curves so that there wasn't anything to "tuck in" along the curve section. People who ride in the car think it came like that from Tesla. I...

Strap a weight onto the steering wheel

I find if I drive with one hand on the wheel it provides enough tension to avoid the nag. However, I was taught that you should always have two hands on the wheel at all times. If I do this, I get the nag all the time. So in essence, Tesla is teaching me poor driving habits. :D

    Finally impressed with TACC

I'm actually liking 12.3.1 - much smoother in heavy traffic than 8.3. Also, it doesn't seem to head into stopped traffic at speed and then slam the brakes at the last minute. It still has more room to improve, but I like the changes so far.
