Ford says owners can start using superchargers today (Feb 29)

The only hindrance I see is v3 stations not having long enough cables to accommodate different charge-port locations. That is the only thing I can see as causing congestion at superchargers. V4 fixes this but as with v3 I do not expect upgrades to happen quickly. If referring to the amount of...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Looking at the Tesla Released numbers FSDb is having accidents at about double the rate of the og autopilot... there's tons of inferences that could be made from that and splitting hairs. I wish there was third party verification of the data. Do other car makers release the statics of when...

    Done with Teslas

You're playing semantics. Having a dedicated IR sensor is not the same as using an optical camera to pick up heat. You know that. If that were the case why have an IR sensor at all in any system. Tesla cheaped out on it's monitoring tech to keep prices down and it shows. As far as "how wide...

    Done with Teslas

Tesla uses a single wide angle camera designed to capture the entire cabin that has obstructed view depending on the angle of the rear view mirror, the other systems use IR sensors mixed with cameras that are dedicated/focused solely on a drivers face. No Tesla has IR sensors. Not only does...

    Done with Teslas

Unfortunately Tesla and Elon cheaped out on driver monitoring tech. It should have eye tracking like every other semi-autonomous system. The belief that software can replace hardware is putting tesla down a dangerous road(pun intended). Keep in mind that Tesla was forced to add the torque...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I've said this for so long. there needs to be collective wisdom for Teslas and road abnormalities. If Accidents, pot holes, phantom breaking, etc are encountered that info should be shared with other nearby Teslas. If a Tesla 3 minutes ahead of me sees a car accident in the right lane with...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Imagine if FSDb decided on its on to go 100mph, why not? If the person or entity who is legally responsible decides the break the law, they suffer the consequences. You're asserting that FSDb is the driver it is not, it is a driver's assistant tool and should not be making legally dubious...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Tesla changed that will 11.3.3. When you press the toggle button (I pushed it to the right, I'll try to the left next time to see if that makes a difference), it brings up a mini menu on the screen that says assertive, normal, chill, then below that its has a button for less frequent lane...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Rolling stops, running red lights are also technically illegal but it's gotten NHSTA attention and forced Tesla to remove it. It should not being doing anything illegal by design unless explicitly told to by the driver who is responsible (for any tickets or any liability that arises unless tesla...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I played around with the assertive, chill. I don't recall seeing speed based lane changes as an option anymore (not in the pop up menu while driving) or follow distance, FSDB decides now. The only thing that calmed down the lane changes was less frequent lane changes.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I was able to complete a long 400 mile round trip drive the same day. On the way down on the old autopilot and the way back with fsdb highway. I see some improvements but I see a lot of.... "non-improvements" particularly around dangerous moves and illegal lane changes. Things that would...

    Autonomous Car Progress

I take a bit of issue with this, not your technical truthful understanding (you're spot on), but there's been muddying of the waters for marketing/press then Tesla falls back on "it's only L2" when something serious happens. It's a slime bag move. The Tesla engineers have always said fsd and...

Tesla Begrudgingly “Recalls” FSD Beta for NHTSA

Historically, things do change based on driver behavior. 2 turn lanes were legally dubious before, banning right on red in dense cities. the wide turning maybe a symptom of everyone going to massive suvs and pickup trucks and lack of driver training to operate those large vehicles.

Tesla Begrudgingly “Recalls” FSD Beta for NHTSA

I think we as a "tesla community" need to sober up from time to time from the Tesla kool-aid. We paid to be beta testers, the other drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians did not and we need to be mindful of that. If there's an inherent flaw it needs to be fixed full stop. No other level 2 system...

What is the dumbest thing your Tesla does?

Navigating and supercharging has gotten very dumb lately. It used to have me stop at a supercharger with between 10%-20%, the battery charges faster and I'm out of there quicker. Lately it's having me stop when my battery is 40% or more and there are PLENTY of superchargers along i95 and in the...

After what time has passed would you consider an FSD class action lawsuit?

I think we need another qualifier to this question which is price paid. The Amount paid would be directly proportionate to dissatisfaction. I paid $3k for EAP which is absolutely worth it, then I grabbed the FSD upgrade for 3k during a FSD "sale" 4 years ago. For $3K EAP I feel like I got...

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

A few points considering that autopilot confirmed was engaged: GPS error. It's in a double stacked highway/bridge, gps can and does mess up in those scenarios. I have it happen to myself on the GWB when I'm driving on the lower level (happens in tunnels as well). It reroutes all the time when...

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

The system should take into account that the other cars are behaving normative and continue to function that way. It's the only vehicle panic braking. Poor system design mixed with poor driver choices leads to accidents.

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

I Agree. Vision only has been a huge step back and there needs to be redundancy with a non vision based system when vision fails. The rumor being that Tesla is bringing back Radar and USS to Tesla's sometime this year, it's clearly the case that vision only has it's limitations.

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

Thinking back I've had this happen during a lane change where autopilot will slow down not this dramatically, in a similar situation with an overpass. The shadows could make the car think there's something either in the lane or in front of it. This looks like a brand new model s, I'm going to...

    SF Bay Accident Surveillance Footage

I have a theory, Autopilot could have phantom braked while changing lanes (the signal is on) and the drive could have further hit the brakes. Some drivers reaction is when something is out of sorts is to hit the brakes. It's not the right reaction for all circumstances, but panicked drivers...

Why I am losing faith in Tesla’s Autopilot (Autosteer)

I read this and it slightly urks me.... Someone that bought a tesla in the last year will have a worse fsd experience than a tesla from 4 years ago when Tesla goes back to vision + radar FSD for the new models with radar in it?

Why I am losing faith in Tesla’s Autopilot (Autosteer)

Just wanted to Chime in on this. 60k miles on my model 3. I will say fsd and full vision only is worse than what I had over a year ago (non vision based system). full stop. I can't think in one way highway driving is better. I encountered a phantom breaking event once in the first 3 years of...

I have the opposite problem, they won't give me a service center appointment at all only mobile service. Can we trade hahaha? Insurance Model 3 NYC

Small Caveat- be careful parking in a garage with an urban supercharger that has an attendant. I've read some horror stories where attendants leave teslas plugged in for hours/days at a time and the owners get hit with massive idling fees. park where the charging is free!

    Insurance Model 3 NYC

I have Geico. Pay for a garage. It dropped my rates by a large amount ($250 a month) the garage cost $300 a month for me with unlimited charging. I'd rather have a safe place to park and charging at home than giving that money to the insurance company.

    NYS Annual Inspection

go to any inspection location. There's very little to do to inspect the tesla. Given the age of your tesla, they will probably just check lights, horn and take a quick look underneath. you'll be done in 10 minutes. The Jackpoints on the tesla are fairly common points for vehicles. All cars need...

    Tire Tread Depth

I replaced mine at 4 as well. There are massive delays in shipping/getting the tires you want right now. I ordered mine at the end of NOV. I got mine installed right before new years. Better to start planning now, than wait until they HAVE to be replaced and running on bald tires.

Tesla practical in NYC (Brooklyn) or no?

I lived for almost 2 years parking on the street without access to charging. There are more than a few destination chargers and l2 chargers. In northern brooklyn, there are 3 urban superchargers. Southern brooklyn is a bit of a supercharger desert. There is supposed to be a supercharger coming...

Really? Is no one talking about the Chevy Bolt?

I would think LG would take some of that charge. If i were ford, chrysler or any other traditional car company that is building their own electric car, would I do business with a battery company that produces defective battery units and doesn't stand behind their work? I wouldn't. LG needs to...

Really? Is no one talking about the Chevy Bolt?

I wonder if LG is going to take part of that charge. It's clearly an LG manufacturing issue. It's the same issue that is affecting the Kona. That must strain the vendor relationship going forward.
  40. ljbad4life

Really? Is no one talking about the Chevy Bolt?

Yes, GM hasn't gotten to many of the Bolts to replace the battery pack. GM has just put a price on the cost to repair all of those Bolts. They are still recommend charging while being watched and parking outside (not inside garages) until GM can get to fix the cars. The Bolt fires are bad, but...

Really? Is no one talking about the Chevy Bolt?

wow- I thought gm fixed it with a software update, when clearly it needs a physical fix. GM needs to replace the battery asap, before someone dies. full stop. Hyundai is pulling this same nonsense with the Kona ev. IF the battery is catching fire a software fix isn't it.

    Canoo

The only truly niche vehicle is the van and delivery van. The electric pickup space have a fair amount of contenders including ford, tesla, rivian and others. Canoo can simply and easily round out it's line up and attract more customers.

    fast charging at grocery stores

Supercharger - Brooklyn, NY - Brooklyn Museum

It's the same $6 for one hour 24/7. Sometimes they try to make you pay an event rate, but make sure to tell the attendant that you are there to charge. The other location is at the garage at atlantic terminal (the one with the stop and shop) It's $2 for the first hour, they have urban...

Drove past today and it was full. Is there something special about this particular supercharger that makes it packed all the time? I have rarely (actually never besides this one) come across a supercharger with 8 stalls that is full on the east coast. Islandia is not that much further away...

Rivian apparently building their own charging network

I am glad Rivian is installing/ creating it's own network. I find that a car company owning their network gives them an incentive to keep the equipment maintained.
