Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Without knowing anything about you I’ll wager the issue is you doing one or more of the following. You’re not gentle with the accelerator. You’re not efficient with your braking using one pedal driving. You drive above the speed limit. You’re only going to get the rated range if you drive like...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Nope I ended up cancelling because I was that annoyed. Bye bye $250.

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Sane CEOs don’t run multiple successful multibillion dollar companies in vastly different and difficult areas. You have to be at least a little insane to even attempt it let alone be wildly successful at it.

This is gonna sound silly since other cars have had them forever but the blind spot monitors

    Homelink installed at factory?

That’s fine but then give us the option to get it installed as an option with the car at the factory or at the service center before I pick it up. Ridiculous that I have to wait to get the car to order the damn thing and then wait however long it takes to get an appointment for them to install it.

    Homelink installed at factory?

That’s too bad. I miss the days when they preinstalled Homelink on all their cars.

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

I may be in the minority but I find the carpet mats so much easier to clean. First, dirt doesn’t seem so obvious on the carpet as they do on the all weathers. Second, with all weathers I usually take a hose or pressure washer to it along with some soap scrubbing and then have to wait for it to...

    Homelink installed at factory?

Is it possible to get Homelink installed in the car before I pick it up for delivery? The app doesn’t seem to let me order it until I actually have the car which adds an unnecessary delay. Is there some trick to just pay the extra $350 and have it preinstalled?

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

I’ve got the new 3 on order to replace the old one. If I really like it there’s a good chance I’ll replace the plaid with the performance 3 whenever it come out.

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

I have a Plaid. But it doesn’t stop me from enjoying my 3 LR. Sure the Plaid is faster but it’s also boat like in handling and the air suspension is extremely disappointing compared to the older S. I kinda dig how much more nimble the 3 is and the simplicity of the single sceeen. But that’s...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Damnit I ordered the same day as you and my date range is Apr 1 - May 6. White LR with white interior and same wheels. Lucky!

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Well I did get my last one delivered in Dec of 21. That was a few years ago but people don’t always upgrade their cars yearly so there’s no way I’d know the option disappeared unless Tesla informed me in some fashion which they didn’t. I don’t think it’s unreasonable that they keep a warning...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Just seems like if they can already provide multiple wheel options from the factory with the 19” and 21” they can offer one more option for 19” winters as well. They have 3 wheel options for their other cars so there isn’t any reason to not offer a third wheel option for the plaid as well.
  14. L

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

I thought they would deliver it to my home like my other two Teslas. I didn’t realize that home delivery was no longer an option and that I’d have to pick up the car hours away and drive it back until after the order was placed. Would’ve been nice to see it as a warning on the order page.
  15. L

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Well I was stupid but not for the reason you think. I stupidly thought they would deliver the car to my house like they did multiple times before and I could switch to winter wheels in the comfort of my garage or drive slowly a mile down the road to the tire shop. It wasn’t until the order was...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Yes it’s in the paperwork. Just seems rotten that the order was placed Feb 4 and all the paperwork is done and now simply because waiting for it may take us past Mar 31 I may lose out on the transfer. I mean the order was placed almost 2 months before the deadline. Just seems unfair to miss...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Why should Tesla follow the same brain dead thinking of legacy auto? It is clearly a stupid idea to deliver a car in the middle of winter to a snowy area that is hours away from the customer’s home with summer tires. This puts undue inconvenience on the customer to change the wheels...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

One of the reasons I like Tesla because they tend to try things differently from other automakers. It makes zero sense to deliver a car with summer wheels to a delivery center hours away in the middle of winter with the ground covered in snow and ice. It’s irresponsible and dangerous when they...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Damn dude, I ordered 2 days after you and my delivery range is Apr 1 - May 6. Lucky.

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Got my first delivery range update—April 1-May 6. I wonder what that means for the FSD transfer that I already submitted the paperwork for considering the car is supposed to be picked up before Mar 31…

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Well that’s unfortunate. Sounds like a rule that makes sense in some circumstances while possibly causing death and destruction in others. Maybe a little melodramatic but it’s definitely stupid and dangerous in my situation. But I appreciate the info.
  22. L

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Yes it’s a Plaid. I think it’s silly to deliver it in the middle of winter to a place covered in snow and ice with summer tires. I understand that’s what you need for maximum performance in warm weather but it seems stupid to not give the option to deliver it with winter wheels so I can drive...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

What would be used about it? Are you telling me they can’t have a mechanism in place to put winter wheels which they sell in their store at the factory instead of the summers? They already have the option to put on 19” or 21” wheels. They can’t have an option for winter wheels too? Seems...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Thanks for the responses. Just kind of annoying since the closest delivery location is 4 hours away which means I can’t drive home till I find a place nearby to change the wheels for me. Just seems silly that they can’t just deliver the car with winter tires on it since they sell a winter...

Summer tires in the middle on winter?

Tesla texted me to say they’d be delivering my new S with summer tires even though it’s being delivered to a location which will see freezing weather for the next couple months. Is this normal? Seems rather dangerous.
  26. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

No I did not have FSD configured on my order when I requested the FSD transfer. Not sure what they’ll do if you already added it.

OD = order date? If so Feb 3 and FL

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Just in case anyone else was wondering how to initiate the FSD transfer, I got the attached text out of the blue about my trade in. A few minutes after my last message there I received an email with a document where I had to fill in my old car’s VIN, new car’s VIN (or RN), printed name, and...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Know the best thing about paying up front? You can get app access to the car before you even pick it up. Happened to me. Quietly wandered onto the lot. Used the vehicle location in the app plus flashed the lights to find my car. Did a quick walk around. Unlocked the car with the app. Got...

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Did you just call the standard Tesla number?

    Anyone wrapped the highland?

Was the installer able to reapply all the badges afterwards? Did they have to order new ones? If so were they readily available?
  32. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

I’d prefer a Chinese one. Probably built better.
  33. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

How are you even getting an SA’s number. No one has reached out to me since I put in the order.
  34. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

How do you initiate this process? I have a 2019 3 with FSD. I ordered a new 3 (without FSD) and filled out all the paperwork that I could in the app. What do I do to start the process of transferring FSD? Do I need a VIN first? Do I call Tesla?
  35. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Could you let us know if there’s a misalignment of the light strip on the driver side between the door and dash?
  36. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

How did it improve compared to your MYP? What stood out the most?
  37. L

Model 3 Highland (US) Waiting room

Yeah just put my order in yesterday. Feeling good. Also I’m hearing they’re allowing free FSD transfers? Has anyone heard about that?

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Why is this such a difficult problem to solve? It seems all they’d need to do is a software fix that disables the front motor as the car approaches the problem speed range, makes use of the rear motors to compensate while accelerating through the range, and reengage the front motor once past...

Anyone disabled the PWS on refreshed S?

No not yet. Let us know if you do.

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

Yes I had to raise the latch a little higher to get it to close properly.

95+ score and no FSD Beta today?

95 score and just got the FSD beta. 2019 3 LR. Yay!

FSD beta expansion to new beta testers June 2022

Anyone with a 95 score added after Elon’s tweet?

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

I believe they’re two different products but they seem to work very similarly.

Concerned about build quality of Model S 2022 LR

EDIT: Just realized you asked about LR. This write up is for the Plaid but some of it may still apply. Yeah, the vibration that happens while accelerating between roughly 40-50 mph that affects a lot of us is making me want to sell the car. Also the air suspension sucks. It felt a little...

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

So I fixed the latching issue by raising the entire latch mechanism. You’ll notice if you loosen the two bolts that secure the latch that it lets you move the entire mechanism up and down a few millimeters. Just move the whole thing up and it should latch. The potential problem though is that...

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

I just asked. Will update you once they get back to me.

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

Oh yeah that’s annoying. For some reason they show the city location but you have to contact EVOffer on telegram to get the actual contact details. Not sure why they don’t just list them all on the page…
  48. L

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

Will do. I can slow down the motor so it raises the hood slower. Maybe that would help with the shake? The new struts are definitely beefier than the OEM ones to the point that it’s really hard to manually pull the hood down if you ever needed to.
  49. L

I installed the electric frunk for the Plaid!

Yes EVOffer has a list of recommended installers but they’re only in a few locations. You can find them here.
