    Tesla Model Y-LR in Australia

I am contemplating to buy MY LR under finance. This is due to just a 7% interest rate, which is only 1.5% higher than my mortgage. I had a few questions based on your experience and knowledge: 1. Is the lender of Tesla’s finance trusted? 2. Will the interest rate fall once RBA reduces in future...

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

Thats what im referring to, Tesla cars dont lose control like that and self correct, unless you run off the road or hit something early I suggest you watch actual testing:

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

Agree. I saw a massive dead roo on the middle of highway lane at night, and I played enough car racing games to instinctively know to take the hit straight on. My Ford Focus jumped all 4 wheels off the road. If i went over it on one side it would have definitely flipped me over.

Model Y review from an mechanical and software engineer's standpoint.

The Tesla cars can’t flip over while swerving right? Pretty sure I’ve seen moose test where it was the best SUV in that regard due to its low COG and stiff suspension

Model Y / 3 comparison - same same but different?

Agree with most of your observations after my MY RWD test drive. Seat height was not a surprise but as others said its the entry and exit that is significant between any sedan and SUV. The ride quality seemed really good to me and didn’t understand all those negative reviews, although i come...

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Don’t doubt it obviously, my petrol car made me forget the feeling. Still surprised at how nippy the MY RWD is.

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

I just test drove a Model Y RWD and it was a lot better than my expectations! For reference I currently drive a Renault Koleos 2015. The major surprises: - The ride quality is great! Much better than my car which is softly sprung but still jarring over bumps and loud. The Model Y is much more...

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

No. From what I know, the lithium ion battery technology is approaching its peak and we should only expect gradual improvements in cars over the years. Same goes for 4680 when it comes to Aus cars, Tesla will software lock its full capabilities initially till they get comfortable with it.

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Nope, will take a few years before Shanghai makes them.

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Are the comments valid that LR is a few weeks away? After household negotiations, decided to wait for LR, but was seriously considering Aug SR delivery.

Tesla no longer including mobile charger bundle?

The outrage over this is wasted, this is a non-issue as long as you can buy the mobile charger with the car and it’s not out of stock. It can save people some money that don’t need them.

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

My main want for a Tesla is the acceleration, hers is price / practicality. LR seemed to be sweetspot

I've been waiting years and years for fsd, and still zip, nada. Not even offered a beta test...

Nah there is plenty of proof out there , only your post is opinion. 1. Actual historical FSD price increases 2. CEO of company disclosing this 3. Only a brain dead person can not see that if something gets better -> it’s value will rise

I've been waiting years and years for fsd, and still zip, nada. Not even offered a beta test...

It’s easy to be frustrated by unavailability of FSD beta like somehow you are deserving of it, but you always have to put in context that you got it cheap (plus other features) and the final price of it after 5+ years will be far higher. Personally I won’t be getting it because I don’t want to...

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Hopefully, the pent up demand for Model Y should be intense by all this waiting. Order first and contemplate your decision later haha

Any safety benefits of Model 3 AWD in Australia under normal driving conditions?

As we don’t get icy roads I don’t think safety benefits exist unless you plan to drive dangerous to begin with. It sucks we don’t get incentives for LR, but i will still get MY LR just for the acceleration, it is the biggest reason I became a Tesla fan after test drives. Without it will feel a...

    Battery packs, a decision factor?

Just wondering, have you recalibrated your cars battery? (Charge to 100%, empty to 0% and recharge to 100%) https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/insideevs.com/news/516137/recalibrate-tesla-battery-range/amp/

    Battery packs, a decision factor?

You got that completely backwards, where do you get that information? Your analogy of batteries seems to be based on storing food in a fridge ;)

    Battery packs, a decision factor?

While I see your argument in long temperature exposure while parked, it is not what research into Li batteries supports. See below chart and paper. Most degradation occurs during the charge/discharge cycle, ie during chemical reaction process. More degradation occurs in colder temperatures than...

    Battery packs, a decision factor?

Why would degradation be higher in hot climates? BMS keeps pack to around 20-50C in normal operation. Even if you park your car out in the sun, it should be perfect for the battery.

    Battery packs, a decision factor?

If you apply more weight to earlier life, as what most people would care about in a passenger car, Tesla seems to have balanced them just right

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

4680 batteries most likely would NOT impact the final car specs for end user much anyway, unless they release a more expensive version with longer range. Charging curve still limited by existing older supercharger capability. CoG and stiffer body noticeable if you are racing it. Biggest benefit...

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

That might be a while, seeing how hot Tesla’s are right now, I’ll just buy it straight away and can easily sell if need be (unlikely)

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

Recently many reviews from UK have said MIC MY has very rough jarrihy suspension. When i test drove M3 in Melb I didn’t notice it, only felt glued to the road compared to my ICE suv. This is my only concern waiting to buy MY, what are your thoughts? Is it just Tesla FUD?
