Got the dreaded "battery charge level is restricted" message yesterday

I had the same problem in my 2013 model s 85 Covered under warranty but did not get new battery. They will not tell me the size of the battery.....but it does charge, it charged to the same miles. They did it in a week with a free loaner car. Can't say anything but good. My only expensive...

    Supercharger - Santa Barbara, CA (LIVE 4 Oct 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

Goldengate, I know exactly how you feel. I suggest you plan your hotel accommodations around their ability to offer you a charge option. Otherwise you are constantly thinking about how much is left and getting to your next "fix". To add insult to injury, even if you leave enough charge to get...

Supercharging Pairing and throttling- What am i missing?

This seems so stupid I must be missing something. I pull into a crowded supercharger with 70 miles remaining on my Model s 85. There is no unpaired supercharger, so I have to plug in and the system throttled me at 35 KW for the first almost 30 minutes. So I sit in a completely full supercharger...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Friars Road (Mission Valley, LIVE 31 Jan 2019, 24 Urban + 24 V3 stalls)

Nice catch! Elon had promised to start the rollout of the new 240kw chargers....one can hope.

Supercharger - Huntington Beach (likely cancelled)

My thought is that the ones that have a target opening in 2018 will slide to 2019 The ones that have specified summer 2018 or fall 2018 will actually be opened by year end So that means that Carlsbad & Huntington Beach will be opened this year almost all of the others will slide into 2019...

Supercharger - Huntington Beach (likely cancelled)

I am encouraged because The Tesla coming soon map lists this as opening fall 2018. That sounds like good karma to me.

    accelerated degradation concern

Something is wrong. I have a 2013 s85 and I have had less than 2 miles loss on a charge in 5 years and 70,000 miles. It used to charge to 259 miles trip charge and it still charges to that or at the lowest 257!

Supercharger - Lake Elsinore, CA (LIVE 28 Feb 2018, 20 stalls)

It is Friday June 8 and it is 7:30 in the morning. The NAV on my Tesla shows that only 7 of 21 stalls are available here. I pulled in and there are no cars here. Either the system is broken or 14 superchargers are down. Makes me wonder how accurate these maps are. Trying to get back and forth...

Superchargers in Southern California (location speculation)

It was announced today that TESLA will be adding more than 1,000 superchargers in California alone in 2017! They will build sites along the busiest travel routes and that will accommodate "several dozen tesla's charging simultaneously".

California: Free 91/110/10 Express Lane Access

I assume that this will also work on the 15 freeway in Corona and San Diego????

Some California Superchargers not providing maximum charging rates

Supercharged at San Diego Friday. All full and four cars waiting. Charged at 37 KW and took over an hour

Tejon Ranch and San Diego....and I have used superchargers less than 15 times in three years!

Supercharger - Barstow (EXPANDED, 5 stalls added, now 16 total)

This is a tragic fact of the bottleneck you face when trying to travel around a weekend/holiday in our Tesla's. It can ruin your timing/plan and trip. I have resigned myself to the fact that if I want to do a weekend trip you take the ICE vehicle. I have been in the multi hour waits for a...

Superchargers in Southern California (location speculation)

Not to be cynical, but the coming soon dots that approximate Oceanside and San Diego have been on the map since early 2015 without any progress....but at least it is re-assuring that they are aware of the demand in So cal.

Supercharging by Locals/Overcrowded Superchargers in So Cal

It was reported that Tesla sent out some letters to potential abusers of the superchargers. Has anyone seen these or have any insight into what they said?

Supercharging by Locals/Overcrowded Superchargers in So Cal

I thought we should dedicate a thread to the issue of locals and supercharging. In Southern California, at many of our superchargers there are waiting lines. I have had to wait to use superchargers at Fountain Valley, Burbank, San Juan Capistrano, San Diego, Oxnard and Tejon Ranch. And in the...

Supercharger - Santa Ana, CA (12 V2 stalls)

great photos....thanks. But look at the parking lot. EVERY parking spot is taken. This is going to be a challenge. We shall see.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

Good thinking, but not practical for me. My beach condo does not have any electrical (available or near me) in the parking structure. I got a bid for permits, meter, and labor for over $3,800 to set it up. Not worth the trouble for HOA approval or the cost for the two weekends a month I spend...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

Sadly, I now drive my ICE car back and forth between homes. The wait times and charging throttling add more time to my trip than the trip. A word of advice, NEVER depend upon getting to charge on a Sunday to go anywhere in the Tesla. There have been nothing but waits on Sundays in Oxnard, Tejon...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

At the SD supercharger now....:Sunday at 3:00 and all slots taken and four waiting! It is just getting worse...and the model 3 is not due for a year

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

I have another "gripe" for you. I was three miles from my house, and had between 30-40 miles of range on my car. IT was over 100 degrees out, and tried to use my tesla app to turn on the A/C. The darn thing says "due to low battery level this is not available". WTF....what brilliant programmer...

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

It happens here too.....but only at superchargers. Close the darn thing and it pops back out. See lots of other cars driving away with the reflector open, so we are not alone!

Supercharger - Temecula, CA (Winchester Rd., LIVE 10 May 2016, 10 V2 stalls)

Going wine tasting this Saturday. Be fun to see if it is done by then. Looks like it is ready to flip the switch. I wonder if there is a certain day of the week they do these on....????

San Luis Obispo L2 chargers? (possible construction underway)

This is surprising. This would be very close to the Atascadero supercharger. It appears that neither the Atascadero Supercharger or the Buellton supercharger (Which would bracket this location) are that busy to warrant this location. We shall see!
  28. G

(Reported on 12/26/2015) 11+ car wait at Tejon Ranch!

It makes it even more frustrating that when you finally get your spot in a full supercharger, that it charges at such a slow speed. It was charging my S at 40 miles per hour in Tejon. The fact is I now plan my trips to NOT be on the road coming back to LA on a Sunday or after a holiday. Glad we...

Superchargers in Southern California (location speculation)

Great work! I am curious, if this will be completed in the next 3 months (2015), shouldn't there be some permits pulled or some type of pre-installation activity? Randy S.....can you comment on these? It is great to see them putting this out there, but I have a hunch that 2015 means 2016 on...

Superchargers in Southern California (location speculation)

Looks like there are new pins in the coming in 2015 supercharger map. A new one in San Diego south of the Qualcomm Supercharger...possibly Mission Valley, and one that looks like the 15 freeway....Maybe Escondido or Temecula?
  31. G

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

that is GREAT news. The Qualcomm charger is a little off the beaten path. It also looks like they are adding a pin a little towards the 15...maybe Escondido/fallbrook/Temecula?
  32. G

Superchargers in Southern California (location speculation)

That would be VERY close to the Rancho Cucamonga charger. Surprised it is not down the 15 by Temecula. But a welcome addition.
  33. G

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

FYI- Went to charge here this Saturday at 11. Every charger was taken and we were waiting. Turns out (per Hanna Romley at tesla) there are some problems with this charger. As of Saturday the only ones working were 2B, 3B (albeit slowly....it said 11 hours to fill up) , 5A, 5B, 6A, and 6B You can...

    Overloaded superchargers

At Oxnard Supercharger Monday morning at around 11:30 AM....Every charger was taken and three people waiting....look how crooked the red tesla parked...they still squeezed in beside him/her!

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

this is hilarious....14 users online waiting and hoping for the "it's open" news......but don't they have to re-stripe and finish the parking lot construction first?
  36. G

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

WOW! That is called making a statement! SDG&E just made a BIG one! Hats off......

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

thanks to markb and you guys for keeping us in the loop on this. You don't know how nice it is to see the progress and the pictures......it's down to the wire and getting exciting!

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

I am awaiting the Supercharger also......The problem is we are being forced up the 5 freeway to use SJC which is overloaded. Right now if we are going via the 15 freeway, we have to roundtrip from Rancho Cucamonga.....starting from rancho to San Diego, then back to Rancho is a stretch.....i...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

Please send updates....FYI- I sat at the SD service center for hours last weekend getting enough charge to make it to Rancho Cucamonga (going north on the 15)....charging at a scathing 25 miles/hr. Brutal. This cannot happen fast enough!

New Southern California edison time of use rates

Having multiple homes in different counties in California, I find it interesting that the SCE off peak charging rate was 10-11c/KW and the SDG&E rate is 19c.....amazing 80% difference. Does the CPUC not look at stuff like this?
  41. G

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

If Randy S says it is, it is! Wow. What do you guys think the time horizon is now?
  42. G

    Overloaded superchargers

yesterday, at 3:00-4:00 PM all 7 slots at SJC were full, and three cars waiting! Wow,......at least when I got in it charged at 196 MPH.....not 40

[Infrastructure Cost] Tesla Superchargers Station Cost?

i believe that ELON MUSK has been quoted saying the construction costs including permits and everything(all in) is between $300,000 and $500,000.
  44. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I have noticed that the tops of the ESLA Charging cord holders are illuminated at Rancho. I have not noticed that at other locations. I think that makes them much easier to find at night, and definitely discourages ICEING.
  45. G

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

The stalls look complete but are wrapped in caution tape. Two workers there today doing clean up......
  46. G

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Pleasantly surprised that I have experienced no ICEing at all here. Great location, lots to eat and do. Great Job Tesla!

San Diego Area Superchargers (location speculation)

Well, in my opinion the San Diego dot should be moved to 2015. It's nice to know that they are making the effort to locate one here, but "coming soon" or "2014" is not going to happen. It sure will be exciting when we can get a firm location and start to see the work progress.......sigh......
