    TeslaMate [megathread]

Can anyone shed some light as to why this megathread is buried under Europe > The UK and Ireland? IMHO, it would make more sense to promote it to a higher level to gain attention of Tesla users not located in that region.

There a firmware update for Ownice T3 (1.8.9). I don't know if it fixes the problem with FSD.

    Another Battery Range Concern

Speed and HVAC use are just some of the variables used to determine efficiency, Do you have MYLR or MYP? What kind of tires do you have? What size tires you have on your vehicle? What was the tire pressure? What was the outside temperature? There are several variables that impact efficiency, and...

Idaho to Montana and back in the Winterish, YLR - First Road Trip 1,100 miles in three days

Thanks for sharing with us. Like you said, speed and temperature impact efficiency and range. The same holds true for ICE vehicles. Arriving at around 10% SOC and hitting v3 SuC, and charging enough to get to the next SuC helps cut down on total time. Finally, I walk around every time I am at a...

I was able to update my Ownice T3 to FW v.2.8.17 by plugging it to a USB port of my computer and navigating to 3.3.3.3 on my iPhone. The icons are reverted back to 5 by 3 configurations as it was prior to v.2.8.15.

    1. You can set up an automation to enable Hotspot once T3 establishes connection with your Tesla. 2. Are you trying to unlock the car remotely via Tesla app? If there is an active connection between T3 and your Tesla, and there is no Hotspot devices present, you will not be able to unlock the...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

As stated previously, I am running Tessie and TeslaMate side by side - I'm aware of the interactions between the two may lead to problems. I thought that TeslaMate was not being able to register the start of the drive, while Tessie was in touch with the car location all along, is a challenging...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

This morning I drove 11.8 miles from home to the office. Tessie reported the drive correctly as 11.8 miles long. Yet, TeslaMate reported the drive as 7.3 miles long. TeslaMate began tracking the drive while I was driving on the freeway. The final destination was appropriately identified as work...

Trip Report: San Francisco Bay Area to Las Vegas, NV (Presidents Day Weekend 2023)

Totally agree. We set a rule not to spend more than 2.5-3 hours behind the wheel. Because of my back issues, I tend to walk about and stretch a lot during charging stops. The days when I could drive over 1,000 miles a day are in a distant past.

Initial Cost Per Mile over first 10k

First post…first cross county road trip…a question.

I drove most of that route in May (I posted it in this forum). Every morning, I would use the Tesla Nav. to get me to the next motel/hotel stop for the night, preferably with AC charger. Like others, I tried to minimize travel time by combining charging with bio/food breaks. I used ABRP to map...

@Mandingo Thanks for the write-up. I don't have Premium Connectivity since I made decision to switch to Ownice, previously T2C, and Personal Hotspot for Tessie and Tesla Connectivity. LA to Philly

I drove from LA to NJ in May 2023. The trip started with I-15 then I-40 followed by I-75/I-95. There are plenty of SCs along the way, nothing to worry about. On the way home we took I-70 to I-15. Again, there were no issues.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

There are two Wi-Fi chips inside Ownice unit. One to handle CarPlay, and the other one is dedicated to vehicle connection to the Internet via Hotspot. So, in essence, there are two types of bridge networking going on. T2C works similarly except with only one Wi-Fi chip inside.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

For the vehicle to have access to the Internet, one must enable Hotspot. I have a shortcut that turns the Hotspot on when I connect to the car via Bluetooth, and automation that turns Hotspot off when CarPlay is not used.

Using an advanced filesystem (Linux ext4) for both Teslacam and music files: The Definitive Guide

Yes, the partitions will be erased if you do it in the Tesla. You will end up with a single partition for TeslaCam videos. To make any changes to the existing drive, move the media storage to PC, Mac or Linux.

Using an advanced filesystem (Linux ext4) for both Teslacam and music files: The Definitive Guide

Excellent write-up. For those who prefer a GUI interface, I would recommend using gparted application. For those who don't have access to a Linux machine, I would recommend gparted Live USB/CD.
