The 2 Best Days In a Plaid Owner’s Life

Before you go, did you have FSDbeta? What version of DrivePilot does your Mercedes have - how to does your Mercedes DrivePilot in real life do with: on-highway self-drive including highly curved roads and narrow highways with those temporary lane concrete barriers navigating off ramps and on...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

Thanks again. Any reasons not to use the USB drive from Tesla? Dashcam turning off - I only did this to remove the drive and turned it on after re-inserting the drive. I found if I left dashcam on, I would at times get an error on the media (corrupted) when manually removing the drive since no...

Custom lock sound file - where does it go?

You may also want to see this thread that I posted for issues with creating multiple partitions on a single USB: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/custom-horn-sound-issues-in-a-multi-partition-usb-flashdrive.318929/ Bottom line is that this seems to be very finicky and dependent on USB...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

Tried two partitions (TESLADRIVE with TeslaCam folder and LockChime.wav both at root; MEDIA with Boombox, Music, and LightShow folders at root and custom horn sounds in Boombox folder) and no custom horn soundfiles were recognized. Went back to three partitions (TESLADRIVE, LIGHTSHOW with...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

Thank you. The custom doorlock seems *not* to work (with 3 partitions, I haven't yet tried reformatting to two) if I unlock and quickly lock (lock sound returns to default beep-beep). But it does work if I've sat in the car for a minute or two and then lock (iPhone proximity walk-away lock...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

Thank you, that isolated the problem, even as one file it did not recognize in custom horn tone menu. The issue must have been the file. I opened the MP3 in macOS Audacity, exported it as WAV (thus converting it) and now it opens (all 3 files showed) in custom horn. Interestingly, Tesla's USB...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

I think you misread my post. My post is about custom horn sounds, not custom door lock sound. I have the one custom door lock LockChime.wav file set up OK in the dashcam's drive (partition) and know that's just one file / one sound. Other posts I've read: the first 5 sound files in Boombox...

custom horn sound issues in a multi-partition USB flashdrive

Late 2022 Model Y, FSDbeta 2023.44.30.5.1, USB port in glovebox. I am only getting 2 of 3 custom horn sounds available from Toybox. I have 3 files - one is .WAV, two are .MP3s - only one of the 2 MP3s are showing. All 3 files show up in the USB app and play OK from there, and of course play OK...

scenic drives with FSD or autopilot - good websites? hacks to rapidly add a specific route with stops/waypoints?

Thank you. I also just found this app which is free and seems to have some European routes too: https://roads.porsche.com/en/porsche-roads-scenic-route-planner Looks like with any of these you have to manually "re-create" the route by adding destination stops within Tesla's navigation, to have...

    FSD Beta 5-strike strike-out auto-reset after 2 weeks

When I only had 1 strike left, I forced a strike at the end of a drive, just before not needing to drive for a week, so it would reset. It did reset the strikes after a week. I find I get the warnings every few minutes even though I am paying attention to the road and both hands are on wheel...

scenic drives with FSD or autopilot - good websites? hacks to rapidly add a specific route with stops/waypoints?

Going on some scenic drives as I like scenic drives as long as I'm not having to drive. To ensure the Tesla follows a scenic route and not the shortest/fastest route, I think I will have to manually add stops / waypoints for each scenic segment. 1. Any shortcut or hack to plan out a scenic...

    FSD Beta 5-strike strike-out auto-reset after 2 weeks

Thank you both! Very helpful. I work multiple sites and take subway to most of them. If I know I have >7 days between drives I may force the final strike so it resets. All my strikes have come when I *was* paying attention / mostly looking at the road (glancing at screen to check traffic) and...

    FSD Beta 5-strike strike-out auto-reset after 2 weeks

Securing mobile charger to the wall

Securing mobile charger to the wall

Securing mobile charger to the wall

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Let me add my sadness with this removal. I bought the Tesla for FSD beta which truly is wonderful compared to other systems I've tried - works better and on more roads, and city traffic light recognition is amazing on roads like the West Side Highway in NYC which is 5 miles of...

    FSD Ripoff or Not?

I am really enjoying FSD beta compared to enhanced autopilot. Had to wait a year after paying then-full-$12k for FSD before being invited to FSD. It times whether to keep going at yellow or slow better than me.

    Model Y initial thoughts

On your new Model Y with no ultrasonic parking sensors - when you are parking, do you get a distance measure on the screen that is computed by the cameras alone? Or did that disappear completely with the "vision only" model? If still gives an estimate of parking distance: - how accurate is it...

    Issues with white seats

What cleaners such as shoe cleaners work on the white synthetic? Anything? I wore some newer but several-times washed dark blue jeans after damp from a rainstorm - and now my Tesla's white seats, 1 year old very few hours - 3000 miles of driving only - are as stained as my other cars' light...

Apply light force to steering wheel 5 seconds after applying force to wheel

As I said later in the LOOONG post :) I also tried keeping ONE hand only resting on the wheel, tried all positions (9 o'clock, 10 o'clock, inside on top of spoke, bottom). Same, still got nags unless I "jiggled" deliberately - incredibly distracting. As to weights - I think people should share...

I keep both hands on the wheel but have a very light touch and steering on comfort. With FSDbeta I started to get the silent blue-alert apply steering force nag roughly every 30 to 35 seconds it was incredibly distracting and IMHO dangerous (eyes off road to check the message on the screen...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

The USS seem active on my 2022 Model Y on the highway also at high speeds and seem to accurately reflect distance to barriers and other cars. And of course exceptionally helpful for parking, better than other cars I've driven that have ultrasonic sensors for parking only - better in terms of...

    survey - FSD autopark experience

It is strange because FSDb driving on city streets and highways / freeways is so much better than any other car manufacturer and keeps getting better. Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

FSDb usually is driving so well, and there is so often vast differences in traffic speeds on the West Side Highway and sudden slowdowns, and people honking in frustration all the time, sometimes the car has slowed from 50MPH to 15MPH before I realize it's due to a "phantom" stop sign / traffic...

    survey - FSD autopark experience

It's interesting I use FSD beta autopilot on highways with very weak lane markings, and vision detects the lanes superbly. I agree. I started simple but realized there are 2*2*2*2*2 = 32 major combinations for which different distances away from space and in front of space may apply and anecdotal responses unless identifying which of the 32 combinations it applied to, would't be helpful. head in vs. parallel on...

How is FSD ever going to work with current camera layout?

I agree. I got FSD beta a couple of months after a year waiting for full FSD beta and it is amazing, and I always pay attention and keep my hands on the wheel but one hand or two hands, any location, I hold with too light a pressure to avoid the nag and applying torque sometimes disengages when...

I will be deleting the sheets and survey form about a week after starting - deleting 10/11/2022 - if no more than 10 responses on optimizing parking. So far, only one - me! As FSD beta regularly updates, we would need to attract at least a few responses every month or so in order to help drivers...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Nightmare Experience! Only 500 miles driven...

I am sorry you had this experience of your Model Y breaking down and an all-day wait. This is one of my fears - not enough service/dealer/towing network. how to get a good safety score in city traffic where you are cut off once a day

That makes total sense, especially as urban environments are the most challenging. Still, it would be nice to have it for when I'm not in the city. how to get a good safety score in city traffic where you are cut off once a day

This is helpful thank you. In NYC there are often double parked vehicles so I have to swing out around them. You can't go around too soon that would be dangerous, and many times on a one-way a car is double-parked across from a fire hydrant so you can't move to the left "in advance" but if...

how to get a good safety score in city traffic where you are cut off once a day

Thanks! I tried this - dis-enrolled, made sure car was connected to wifi, went away for an hour, and requested to re-enroll. Safety score has reset! I will now get a hat with a feather and drive like I am 87. Fingers crossed no one cuts me off. My other question: 1. If I'm on autopilot and...

how to get a good safety score in city traffic where you are cut off once a day

That is an excellent point. Lots of chances in the city for someone to cause an accident! And being too safe is itself dangerous (people more likely to swerve around you if you follow too slowly). So, I'm seeing some older posts that you can dis-enroll from FSD beta, then, request to join again...

I drive in city traffic where I'm cut off once a day. My Forward Collision Avoidance warning is set to early and every drive I get 2 or 3 when someone cuts me off. Do you know of something in NYC that is a quick drive-through touchless that isn't a detailing shop for Bentleys and Lamborghinis and requires having 4 hours spare or a PA to take the car for a detailing? Not all of us have Model S Plaid budgets or time!! :)

Did you find anywhere? I have the same question / need! Brooklyn preferred. Especially want a cheap true touchless self-drive-through just to rinse off the city grime and salt - easy to find these in California at gas stations and takes 5 minutes. I don't need a 30 minute to two hour detail...

Find car wash in New York City area

This is not very helpful for someone who lives in an apartment building! They do not permit washing in the garage if you are fortunate enough to have parking in-building; and street parking can be many blocks from one's home / a water faucet!
