Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

No, much of it depends on your driving style. Personally, I'm terribly under capacity for my range, according to Teslafi. I'm only at 8691km (5400mi) and 424km (263 mi) max range after a year of ownership, so I'm suffering more from calendar aging than wear-and-tear.

I drove a 2022 MIC Model 3 RWD that had fog lights.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

That's pretty good, I'm at 10 months of ownership, only 8500km, and my estimated max range is 426. I charge at home with 110V and rarely charge to full or supercharge.

Any news about costing by kWh instead of by time to supercharge?

Can't wait for this to roll out. It's such a pain charging at 20kW but paying for 60kW speeds when it's cold. I just hope they set $/kWh to about 0.40c here in BC.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

    > I charge to 55%. (though, when I was using 110 volts the first 3 months I had the car I was charging to 100%). I am reasonably confident that my battery is not negatively impacted by this. The only question for me is if the battery management system is thrown off when it calculates what...

2022 Model 3 Propulsion/RWD (with LFP battery) real world range

I typically get 140-ish Wh/km. But in the winter I'm getting 250, and as high as 400wh/km :P

    Canada Model 3 battery type

SR+/RWD has been LFP since the start of 2022. It's fine, it's just slower and performs worse in the cold. If you live somewhere very cold, make sure you have somewhere warm indoors you can park it, otherwise it won't charge in the deep cold (or at least the battery warmer can't keep the battery...

    LFP to 100% Each Week—Assumptions?

Don't even bother. I keep mine at 60% and charge to 100% just every few weeks.

Winter tire shopping - Looking at the NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 EV

As long as left and right are the same tire, it doesn't matter if you have R3s in the front and R5s in the back or vice versa. Just be aware the Hakkas are mono-directional, so make sure you have an L and R tire and not two of the same!

    Superchargers in Iceland

Hello, yes we stayed in Reykjavik, Hvolsvöllur, Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Höfn, Egilsstaðir, Akureyri, Búðardalur, Stykkishólmur, and then back to Reykjavik. It was a great trip, would have loved to have spent two nights in most of these places but many of them were just one night. We drove into the...

    No supercharge in bitter cold

I've also failed to supercharge when it was very cold (-35C and below). It plugged in and drew power, but after 30 minutes of "warming the battery to charge" I gave up, since I was paying $/min for it. So, it's possible. (Model 3 RWD with LFP pack). Also, supercharging just sucks in general...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Update #5: it is -32 but the car was out in the cold all day. Took it to the supercharger and it would not charge at all. Left after 25 minutes of battery warming with zero kWh added. Warning to all other cold weather people out there! I'd be completely ****ed if I didn't have a heated garage.
  15. L

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Update #4: It's now -40C and highway consumption is about 350 Wh/km, often over 400 in town. Also, when I close the car doors, the windows open slightly now?!?! And then it tells you in the app they're open, but if you try to close them with the prompt they actually open further?!? Ok, it does...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

No, I can't upgrade my outlets at all. The wiring won't tolerate it, I'd have to do a big investment in electrical upgrades. Update #3: It's -33 and efficiency is about 300Wh/km. Effective range is less than half of rated. I just used 30% of my battery driving 50km. The car will not charge at...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Winter update #2: It's is now -30C and the car "supercharges" at 22kW, even with a long precondition. It, in fact, gets SLOWER as time goes on, not faster, as I don't think the heater can keep up with how cold it is outside. I'm not sure I would even be able to charge if I wasn't heating my...

    preheat for supercharging without nav?

Did anyone figure out a way to preheat the battery without getting into the car? I'm only 5 mins from the supercharger, so it doesn't have much time to preheat when I drive there, so I only charge at 30kW for the first 30 minutes as it gradually warms and increases to 50kW. I would love to...

Winter tire shopping - Looking at the NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 EV

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Winter update: It's been -20C and below for quite a while, I thought I'd let people know how my LFP battery Model 3 RWD is doing. Well, for one, range is down, obviously. Probably a combination of cold, snow, ice, and winter tires. Typically my summer efficiency is 140-150kW/km, but lately it's...

Longer to charge at home in colder weather?

It's -20 outside but about zero-ish in my garage, and I find if I charge at home at 12A/110V (about +8km/h) it SAYS it will take 12 hours to charge, but it continues to charge at the normal rate -- about +2% per hour -- at roughly 85% efficiency. 2022 RWD with LFP battery.

Adding a charger to my 100 amp panel

Where do you get a load shedder here in Canada? I'm just looking at Load Miser but it's $1300 which is just $700 shy of doing a whole breaker box upgrade PLUS a new 14-50 outlet combined, so I don't see how there are any savings at all going that route.

Winter tire shopping - Looking at the NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 EV

Winter tire shopping - Looking at the NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 EV

My Hakka R5 EV tires cost $355 CAD apiece. I'd say the grip and handling is good so far, but the ride is not smooth. They're quite bumpy and wobbly. I took them back to the tire shop to get them rebalanced and put hub centric rings on and it's a bit better, but I'd say I'm still somewhat...

Winter tire shopping - Looking at the NOKIAN TYRES HAKKAPELIITTA R5 EV

I got Nokian Hakka R5 EVs for my M3RWD. Today is the big snow day, 15-20 cm, so I'll let you know how they handle on that later. So far I've mostly noticed just that the ride is very wobbly and they feel very unbalanced. I took the tires back to the shop and had them rebalanced, they said one...

    CCS Adapter - ?

Interesting theory, but where I'm from it's critical to have an adapter, simply because there are so few Superchargers nearby. If I want to drive East the next supercharger isn't for 400km, so my 2022 RWD might not make it on a single charge. To the west of me it's even more ridiculous, there...

    CCS Adapter - ?

I just got my A2Z adapter ($379 CAD all-in, shipped) and it works great. Quite heavy for its size, but well built. Feels funny inserting the plug and adapter into the small Tesla port but when settled in there it seems quite stable. It electronically locks and works basically flawlessly. Just...

    Superchargers in Iceland

Yes, 12 days around the ring road, about 2700km. Rented a 2022 Model Y LR from Hertz. Overall pretty good trip, plenty of chargers other than superchargers to use, the best are cheapies that just use Level 2 charging with a Mennekes cable since Teslas in Iceland are all CCS plug. But the best...

    CCS Adapter - ?

They do require your name and login. Right now it's sold out, but I had one in my basket and when I went to check it out this is exactly what it asked me. It even asks to change your password to a temporary one to order. So, I ordered, and then it said "sold out" and removed it from my basket... :(

    Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY

That's pretty good, my 2022 RWD gets 155 Wh/km most of the time. However, I got it in the winter and it's never experienced weather above 10 deg celsius yet, so I hope it does better once it warms up. :)

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

I never drive to even below 50% most days. If the BMS is so off that it thinks there's 50% charge when there's zero, we have a problem.
