    Superchargers being increased in Scotland

Agreed. Shame about the hydrogen use as it’s a solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist but if they can make it work and still be cheaper than the other operators/scalpers then go for it! They have the space and the facilities are great. More power to them.

    Superchargers being increased in Scotland

Not superchargers but there are now rapid EV chargepoints at Cairn Lodge. Will probably see a fair bit of usage over the summer months I’m sure!

Who needs a sh!tty rear screen to keep the kids occupied. Just freeze them and defrost on arrival!

Sentry mode is great until its not turned on and some one hits you

I’ve come to realise sentry mode might be one of the best things about Teslas! Our car was vandalised on our drive one night and Sentry did a better job of ID’ing the plebs than our home CCTV did. After that it’s always on now! Wish other manufacturers offered something similar.

    Tesla Alternative?

We don’t have a water meter. Maybe someone checking on the electricity smart meter I guess? Odd that he would be in his casual gear and not any sort of high viz/uniform.

    Tesla Alternative?

A little off topic, but on the subject of vehicle theft, I recently noticed a man stand at the bottom of our drive, fiddle with 1 of his 2 mobile phones, then walk to the other side of the road in broad daylight and take a photo, then walk off. All caught on CCTV, hence how I know. Odd...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

@GeorgeSymonds dropped an interesting video about Lucid in another thread. Interesting to note that they have Saudi PIF backing so the purse strings will likely be a lot looser than Fisker. Not sure about Rivian but that’s another interesting one. Wonder how many UK folk out there have bought...

That R2 looks great! Lots of functionality! Hope Rivian succeed! Need more strong EV players to keep Tesla honest

Who is buying a LHD Refresh M S/X?

I turned down a recent test drive of a new M3 and let the Tesla sales guy know I need something bigger but a RHD X isn’t available. Hopefully he passed that on to Elon and a RHD X is now in the works ….. 😂
  11. H

    Tesla Alternative?

There are also many folk in the UK acquiring cars via various work-based schemes. Second hand isn’t an option for them. I’ve seen a couple of EV9s on the road. Look decent. Not a model x though 😢

Pedant alert - think you forgot the density there but point still stands. I’ll let you off. EDIT - no you didn’t. I’ve not had my lunch.

    Tesla Alternative?

A busy 24hr with the new Taycan and i5 touring being revealed. I like both but the i5 has already had a bit of a pasting. i5 vs e-tron A6 could be interesting. I doubt we will see an estate offering from Tesla in the near term.
  14. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Its platform is similar but different to the CLAR platform shared by other vehicles. How similar? I don’t know but they will have no doubt borrowed bits. It’s certainly not a batteries in the boot job anyway. There’s probably an element of not out shining their current crop of m cars. Perhaps...
  15. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Harry was quite positive about the iX. I’ve enjoyed my time in ours so far. I think it’s more of a competitor for the Model X. You can’t get a new Model X in RHD in the UK so that choice is wasn’t available for us. I haven’t sat in an X but I suspect the fit and finish differences would be...

    Tesla Alternative?

On alternatives, we have recently acquired a bmw ix. Needed an extra car in the house, our existing Model Y was a hard one to match as it ticked a load of boxes and the Model 3 was a bit small for our requirements. Would have really liked an X (but not LHD) or maybe a cybertruck (but probably...

Review some of Teslabjorn’s work on YouTube if you are looking for comparisons. He has an openly available spreadsheet that covers all the stats.
  18. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Tangentially related but I have noticed an abundance of Taycans parked outside a nearby Porsche dealership. Even parked on the grass verges on the run to the building. Potential oversupply and price cuts looming? Tumbling 2nd hand values might make them an unappealing ownership prospect.

Actual in Hand Owners… Post up

Unfortunately I think you might be right regarding no cybertruck sales in the UK. Suspect Tesla have ample LHD demand to avoid the need to switch to RHD to keep factories busy, although the drive by wire system would presumably be an easier switch across compared to a traditional steering...

    Cybertruck launch

Interesting that Matt from Carwow has managed to wangle an invite for this. Maybe there is a smidge of a chance that this might be made in RHD at some stage (already been shot down by Elon and would be a horrible daily driver on our roads I know I know).
  21. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Hate to bash them but this is the same Autocar (& the same journo) who was so incensed by all the controls being on the central touchscreen in the recent Volvo EX30 that it devoured much of the review. It was a bizarre reaction really. Anyway I can’t imagine many will be paying £65k for a...

    So… Highland is out…

So I was somehow invited to a ‘viewing’ of the new model 3 this week. The ultra red LHD one that has presumably been floating around the rest of the country. Must admit it does look sharp in the metal. The new headlight/daylight running lights look clean. I was also pleasantly surprised by the...

    Tesla Alternative?

I do wish VW were doing better with their software. Reports online suggest the Caraid division that writes their software is woeful. This doesn’t bode well for the upcoming A6 etron and Macan EV which ought to be top drawer efforts, unless the software is sh!t
  24. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Anyone got Elon’s number? Could really do with another decent sized vehicle in the house for assorted lugging duties so a limited run of new RHD model Xs (or cybertrucks!) would be most welcome. Low probability I know. I may have to opt for the EV9 if not 😢...

Model Y 2024 update for UK

Total guess but China-based customers can already order a mildly updated Model Y - see the China part of the tesla site. Feels like that would eventually work its way into the RHD models coming out of the same factory but who knows. All guess work really.

    Abington Supercharger/Driving North

Shhh don’t tell anyone about Dundee 😂. Coffee is always cold from the hotel though. Last time I was at Perth they looked to be installing more non-Tesla chargers up round the back. It will be quite a charging hub once complete. I think that A74 corridor needs more capacity otherwise the...

    So… Highland is out…

Interesting stuff. Doesn’t quite line up with what is coming out of the factory in China at the moment but who knows. Maybe the M3P will have a few more bells and whistles.
  28. H

    So… Highland is out…

Yes I think it would be more of an issue on smaller, tighter roundabouts, say where the wheel is already turned up past 12oclock when you have to put the left hand indicator on. The more I think about it the less I think it would be a major problem, but I admittedly I am trying to justify...
  29. H

    So… Highland is out…

Or just keep doing left turns until you get back to where you started and it will seem fine. 😂
  30. H

    So… Highland is out…

Sorry @Durzel I disagree. You are right, some people will not care about the lack of indicator stalks and buy the car because they really want it. However, another group of people who are maybe on the fence about getting the car could well be pushed into not getting it when they go for a test...
  31. H

    So… Highland is out…

Yes there also isn’t a mention of indicator stalk removal on the website too afaik. I think we are going to see a few less informed punters voicing their disappointment come January delivery time (and umpteen tabloid articles about it too)
  32. H

    UK Highland Orders

I think I’ll wait for a test drive. As has been discussed elsewhere, lack of indicator stalks will almost certainly make right hand turns at roundabouts a pain. I’d like to see how much of a pain before parting with my hard-earned cash.
  33. H

    So… Highland is out…

interestingly they appear to have removed all finance options now too. Everything is cash only?

    Windscreen crack

For future reference, if you are unlucky and do end up with a full windscreen replacement, be sure to approach your nearest tesla service centre to enquire about windscreen lead times. Our MY needed a new one. Autoglass were in the dark and couldn’t give us a solid estimate. Tesla were...

    [UK] Price cuts

Tempting! Feels like the highland release is close which would surely knock a bit off prices…..but it could also be 6 months away!
  37. H

    Tesla Alternative?

Agreed this looks pretty good. Perhaps a tad small in the back relative to a Model Y but I’m sure a future EX60 model would fill that gap. I’m interested.
  38. H

Do you find police are interested in sentry videos?

Sentry mode was pretty much the only reason some local turds were caught and identified vandalising property late one night on our street. Our CCTV didn’t get decent images but the Tesla did. Local police probably don’t know about it until you tell them.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

Obviously a gap in the market now for RHD folk now Merc EQS an option but as someone said earlier it’s maybe a tad doddery. Audi E-tron A6…maybe but probably not if the Q8 E tron is anything to go by….and not out until ‘24, and probably running on same dodgy VAG software. BMW i5 could be an...

Tesla M3 Dashcam Footage Recovery - Urgent Assistance Needed

You can try contacting Tesla with the approximate time of the event.. They may be able to help. Something vaguely similar happened to us once and I think when the car is involved in an incident the footage gets automatically saved/sent to the Tesla mothership (I might be wrong but ours was...

    [UK] Price cuts

Total guess but is this past quarter the first one where higher interest rates have really kicked in? Maybe would-be buyers are holding off for the time being given that monthlies have shot up.
  43. H

    [UK] Price cuts

Up until a few weeks ago I also noticed a few more used m3p available for sale from 2021 and newer. Now there is only 1 solitary high mileage example. I think there is definitely some “management” of advertised stock going on here.

    Tanked Model 3 values?

No some of our US cohort are experiencing similar except with other models https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/wtf-is-the-re-sale-value-of-plaids.297916/#post-7516993 I suspect something similar will manifest with the M3 soon, however our market is much smaller so I would guess a glut of...
  45. H

    [UK] Price cuts

This coupled with the apparent delay of the upcoming Macan EV (built on VW’s new PPE architecture) probably gives an insight into some of the woes at VAG group at the moment. They need to sort it as a more competitive EV marketplace would be good for all but it’s a major turn off at present...

UK: buying from Tesla used inventory.

How did you catch that one @SteveH13
  47. H

    [UK] Price cuts

This sounds wrong. Why would Tesla reduce costs on their £40k-£60k offering to counter sales from a competitor that isn’t selling vehicles in the UK yet and would most likely sell them for £80k if/when they are sold here.

UK FSD - What does it actually do on Model 3?

Similar experience with EAP here. I think it depends on your typical journeys as to how much you will enjoy it. For us it’s plenty of long dual carriage ways regularly overtaking slower moving traffic doing say 60mph. EAP works well for us in that use case. No need for NoA or anything beyond...

    Nightmare! (Supercharger queues)

The Ionity chargers (and superchargers) were also choc-a-bloc when we visited post Christmas. I’ve decided to avoid charging in that M74 corridor, where possible.
