    Frunk won't latch. Simple fix.

A few days ago the primary frunk latch on my 2015 Model S failed. No amount of pushing down on the frunk would cause it to latch. The secondary latch would still hold the frunk open a couple inches, but it didn't seem safe to drive on the highway under these conditions. So I requested service...

Key fob battery replacement leads to $1600 cost

It turned out better than I feared, at least so far. They replaced the fob that wasn't working, and that solved the problem. They charged $300. I hope it keeps working. I hope it doesn't happen again in a year when we have to replace fob batteries. This may have been a hardware problem in the...

Key fob battery replacement leads to $1600 cost

Here we go again. We have a 2015 Model S that we bought just under a year ago. Starting a week ago, dashboard displays "key fob battery low". Replace battery in fob. Now it doesn't work at all. Try second fob. Also says battery low. Replace battery in that fob. It doesn't work now...

How to buy a roof rack (but not from Tesla)

Roof Rack Store in Australia is still a great choice. We ordered S17Y and K930 for a early 2015 Model S with pano roof and everything went very smoothly. US$287 for the hardware + US$183 shipping = US$470. It arrived in a few days. Leigh at Roof Rack Store was very helpful in making sure we had...

LTE upgrade, eMMC recall broke GPS, center console

Yes, we have so far paid $200. I imagine the law requires a manufacturer to fix things that they break during a recall, at no cost to the customer, but it may not be worth a big fight to get that enforced.

LTE upgrade, eMMC recall broke GPS, center console

Back in December we bought a 2015 Model S P85D. It worked fine when bought it, but then we took it to the to the Dedham, MA service center for the LTE upgrade and eMMC recall. Immediately after the service, the GPS started giving positions up to half a mile wrong and the center console crashes...

J1772 adapter charge port latch logic inverted

Indeed it was a bad adapter. The dealer from whom we bought the car gave us a different one in exchange and now the latch works normally.

J1772 adapter charge port latch logic inverted

We just bought a 2015 Model S. When we use the J1772 adapter, the charge port latch is locked only when the car is NOT charging. For example, if I put in the adapter first, it immediately latches. Then when I put in the J1772 outlet, the car unlatches the port. Then it gives a warning about...
