    UK Pricing piss take

I can't remember a time when European and even UK built cars were not more expensive than in "Benelux." However, tax on cars in Scandinavia makes them very expensive so pretax they used to be the cheapest. 🤔Not sure of the relevance of this😊. What I am sure of is the impact of lowering Tesla Y...

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

After 21 months of standard, I am a little wary of trying chill for the first time - curious🤔.

    Model Y Performance - Incognito?

Buy a Long Range with the larger wheel option and add the performance boost. Spend the saving on red with black/ white interior which, after twenty one months, looks great.

    Yes, welcome.

100% range on new Model Y LR with 3 miles on it calculates to 301 miles

But they were the result of a parameter based standardised method of testing. At the risk of a smack for stating the obvious, "real life" driving style, road/highway and climatic conditions to name a few metrics are so very variable. After road trips, it's the Wh/mile that interests me as it was...

    Tesla Alternative?

Go Team Red! Washed mine yesterday. Did someone say " mediocre "🙄 Then again, I'm glad we are in the minority; as SWMBO is wont to say " So many Teslas on the road". Not something I ever heard during all the BMW years🤔 I do think that the new M3 red is a definite improvement for that car.

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

Press right button a say " Show driving mode". The screen appears and you can simply touch to change. I won't change by verbal command.

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

I hope to get to it today. Three days already without driving Lizzie - not acceptable😊

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

Perhaps voice command would work. I shall try tomorrow.

    Renew your EV Road Tax

Will this not depend on the /registration tax due date? It is not possible to re-taxa vehicle many months in advance- is it?
  11. Wattsisname

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

If only there was a selection button to inhibit free will and prevent stupid behaviour in all aspects of human activity. But would we select it.... 🤔

Excellent question prompting a very interesting thread.

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

Driving at 20 mph, the legal limit on 50% of London's roads, is good training for pedal control in Normal mode. I have yet to even try Chill. I would use it in town but for my concern that I would forget to change back when leaving town for the motorways; I am used to the car's available...

What happens when you drive from UK to Europe? Headlight? Self drive overtaking?

@drewpost ]What's not to like; arriving en France with ABBA testing the stereo. Head lights adjusting - marvellous. Roll on ( or perhaps roll off) Late May. Y? le cote d'azur!😊

    Converting UK Lights To EU

Ah! And there was my pulse quickening; we have a 2022 MYLR. So far, on our EU trips, we have not driven in the dark. Sorry for the OP's Polish Reg. problem. ( If only it was a plumbing issue😌).

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

Agreed. However, clickbait pervades the media globally. And to be fair the "eye-catching" headline approach long predates the digital age. Anyone interested or affected would clarify if dealerships/garages were having to physically modify two million cars. For further fairness, the article...

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

In the past, if my memory serve ( it increasingly doesn't) with BMW, when a part has failed under warranty, the new part is covered by a "fresh start" warranty. So therefore the replaced battery........

Ceramic coating has locked in light car wash scratches

You ought surely to take this up with the leasing company and either get a refund so that you can arrange a proper job. From experience, I would recommend Gtechniq products. However, as has been mentioned, professional preparation, as with many jobs, is essential for a successful result. If...

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

Yes, I would have thought it ought to work as you suggest. Let's hope it is a negotiating tactic.

Discussion: Experiences Renting a Tesla Model 3 / Y from various companies

Quite a blow for Tesla that Hertz and Avis will not be renewing their 3 and Y fleets. Poor resale value and high insurance have scuppered that nice little earner. Perhaps a formula will be negotiated whereby the risk and reward can be shared.

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

Here in the UK, whatever tracking ability our Tesla may have is not recognised by our insurance companies. It would have to be endorsed by Thatcham. The insurance underwriters are also deaf to the pin to drive feature. Tesla are entering the age of subscription services for software value...

    Origin of the name "Highland"

And if other sources of research were used for all and every Tesla related question rather than relying on the combined knowledge of TMC members, it would be a pretty thin forum. So let's pony up fraternal support rather that sit on high horses.

It takes a lot of energy to preheat the battery in the morning, maybe I shouldn’t?

Just switch on heated seats and wheel for 5 minutes before departure. Also, defrost if screen is iced up. For reassurance, you can check battery % before and when you drive off.
  35. Wattsisname

    Origin of the name "Highland"

When, on a recent visit to a SC, I exclaimed " Oh! The Highland". To this, the Tesla chap replied " We are instructed not use that term". Reminded me of IBM's attitude towards its AS400 "Silver Lake" code name. All the EV based Youtube channels use the code names for simplicity during the...

    How Does Tesla Operate?

I took delivery of my model Y LR at end of June 2022. Prior to the simple on line finance and purchasing process, I enjoyed 3 test drives, one for a full hour. The Service Centre guys and girls were so pleasant to deal with; they had excellent product knowledge but were totally devoid of any...

Sentry Mode - Depressing how many people open doors into the car

Wow! Five + months to get it sorted. Anyway, glad it hear that at last you have your Y back. Interesting comment about esure; I was with them for a year but following a ludicrous renewal quote, I went back to Admiral.

    12 volt battery

Indeed! In the UK, a 2022 would have the 15 volt Li-Ion. Can't speak for US made cars. Perhaps the OP will " enlighten" us.

any recommendations for reliable air inflator

I am impressed with the 6000 and although not small, the design makes it easy to use. It also holds a decent charge. Whichever you choose, cordless is the way to go particularly if you have the 16volt battery.

    2023 Model Y 25,000 (24,524) Mile Update - Cold Weather Impact

An excellent report. Forgive me if I pick up on one point, your two ton Jack, which if a decent product genuinely rated at two tons should not have failed. Could you please describe the crushing event?

    Opinions on this style jack?

Of course belt and braces is never a bad thing (except perhaps in monetary terms)and ensuring the best conditions for jacking is essential. I have a Modern Spare and the supplied scissor jack which, with it's 2T capacity, is excellent. The MY LR weighs 4,416llbs. If we round down the jacks's...

I noticed the other day that the Holt's foam has a use by date. There is probably a reasonable safety factor. However, if yours dates back to your first S, you might want to replace it. The Rangers may be busy the day you need them/ it.

I have a decent 12 v charger which will not work with my Li- ion LV battery; it starts splutters and stops. It's rather nice not having to run out the cable with the cigar plug.
