NSW Tesla Energy Plan VPP Virtual Power Plant

What does Solar Soak mean? Instead of a shoulder period, the plan has Solar Soak from 10am -2pm. Google says Solar Soak means using my own generated solar energy. So I have to pay Tesla to use my own solar power over that period? Is this to discourage too much export at that time?

How to Maximize your Tesla's Battery Efficiency and Life

Thanks. Good article. Too bad it doesn't have a section on LFP.

NSW Tesla Energy Plan VPP Virtual Power Plant

I have a 6 kW solar system without any battery system. Currently getting 20c FIT with AGL. The Tesla 30c FIT looks good. What's the catch? You only get paid for export during 2-8pm?

Any safety benefits of Model 3 AWD in Australia under normal driving conditions?

I think the safety benefits of AWD in the wet is exaggerated. It gives you more grip only under acceleration. It does not give you any more grip around corners or in braking. In the snowy mountains, AWD without chains are the most common type of cars I see that have run off the road around...

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

Lol the dance worked! It went to 10a this morning. Tesla needs to add it to the manual 🙂

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

    1. It's 2022.8.2 2. Tail has 10a on it 3. Left it for a couple of hours for 2 nights after charge completion 4. Tried that. No effect 5. Connected The current options I can select are from 5a to 8a. I guess I have to try the happy dance now 😅

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

I have a 2022 with a 10a tail. Also only getting maximum of 8a charge. I've tried leaving it plugged in for hours after a charge, but still no option to increase to 10a.

Comprehensive insurance recommendations in NSW Australia

When getting quotes, its always cheaper to insure with market value than agreed value. But what happens in a claim when the market value may be higher than the purchase price like it is today? Do they actually pay out real market replacement value if it's $10k over RRP?

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

My kids love it when I floor it 🙂 You can also set the steering to comfort, standard or sport. It's got good feel and I find standard to be well weighted and engaging. Sport just feels too unnaturally heavy.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Coming from a manual sports car, I absolutely love the throttle response on standard mode. Every mm of throttle changes the accel and decel even more than my manual car. I love the driving engagement aspect of it and trying to be smooth. It's not for everyone though and I've set my wife's...

    Fixing panel gap issues

Do you mind pointing me to the right thread? I guess I'm unlucky as the other cars I saw didn't have a obvious gap difference I tried to search for it and only found some horror repair stories 2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

    Fixing panel gap issues

That's a bit rough on a new car. Which gap on the car did they try to fix?

Ideal or Cost Effective Home Charging

Just picked up a 2022 model 3 and am now looking at faster than 10a home charging options with the UMC. I have 3 phase power at home. I've read the whole thread and the very useful pdf guide that someone posted previously by Rudi Cheow. I just want to confirm my understanding of what I need for...

    Fixing panel gap issues

So I've picked up my 2022 Model 3 RWD the other day. Great car btw, it's so much fun to drive 🙂 When picking it up, I noticed that the panel gaps on my trunk lid was not even on both sides. It was roughly twice as big on one side compared to the other. I checked a few other cars there and they...

Got a sms for pickup saying there is no onsite parking at Alexandria. Really? Are we meant to all catch a taxi there?

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Can someone who has taken a 2022 rwd delivery check if all the front speakers are now activated including the ones in the A pillar and near the side mirrors? There's some speculation about that from the Tesla Tom 2022 review video.

Brake Dust Brand New Model 3 (Help)

Maybe one side of the pads are rubbing even when you are not on the brakes. Try doing a few firm presses on the brake pedal to self centre the pads.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Insurance premiums are calculated mostly on the value of a car and the likelihood of crashes for that model based on historical data. P platers are one of the highest risk crash groups. If there are more crashes involving M3 rwds, then the premium of M3 rwd goes up for everyone... not just the...

Check out this review on the 2021 standard models audio system. Wonder how the 2022 rwd differs from this. There's one less speaker I believe.. https://totallyev.net/tesla-model-3-audio-review-standard-vs-premium-audio-comparison/

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

So the new one has about 0.5s lag once you punch it. It wouldn't be just below 20k/h, it will be from whatever speed you punch it from. Kind of like turbo lag for an EV. But once it gets going, it's just as quick or even marginally quicker than the SR+

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yeh maybe. It's a mystery at this stage. It may not be a LFP vs NCA difference either. The LFP range was revised recently and they may have accounted for the reduction already.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

It makes absolutely no sense that a MCU chip can reduce range by 22km. Have you ever tried pushing a car in neutral? There's simply no way a chip can consume as much energy as it takes to push a car 22kms. There is probably another reason for the range reduction and tesla is just using Ryzen as...

That's true. The instant response made the LR feel faster than other fast cars I've driven like GTRs and 911 turbos.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Haha I When I test drove the SR in December, I thought it was fast enough and I didn't need the LR. Now I realised the demo car may have been a 5.6s older model. Hopefully the 6.1s one doesn't feel too far off.

Track Day with the Model 3

Thanks for sharing your experience at Sandown! It was very insightful seeing how EVs work on the track. I wonder when we will start seeing EV track focused cars (something simple and lightweight like a MX5 or Lotus) rather than just EV high performance cars. I can imagine they will be just as...

Track Day with the Model 3

Couldn't agree more. That's why I have a Model 3 and a BRZ. Semi slicks like AR-1 and A048 have a very short shelf life though. If you don't track a lot, the rubber goes off just sitting in the garage.. and after a while, they are not any better than something like PS4S and A08R
