Can't add Gen3 Wall Connector to Tesla app.

YES! The missing critical pc. of info that Tesla omits! WC does NOT! broadcast nor listen on it's own little SSID _EXCEPT_!! at initial deployment or briefly after poweron. So an already-local-wifi-setup WC just sitting idle will NEVER work to connect to Tesla App if you just follow their...

Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

An inverter interface cannot 'Know" what is not being used locally for some other purpose. Talking to inverter seems like a very wrong-headed approach, since at best it can only tell you how much solar is being generated, not what is being exported to the grid. I love this approach of instead...

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

It is really a pity that T doesn't have feasible full-battery-replacement methodology. Given how uniquely vulnerable to degradation, as well as potentially very recyclable their own battery packs could be.. I guess a cynic could opine that other things wearing out at the same time just means...

    2023 MYLR7, 19”, tow - 1 month (500 miles) into ownership ( and comparison against 2020 Kia Niro EV)

I wonder what the engineering meetings sound like at Tesla in the FSD/TeslaVision groups sometimes. It may well be that eventually, some day, the "vision-only" gamble will pay off, will actually work, but I agree with the author here that in the short term, in the here&now, a large functional...

    Impressions After Month 1

Yes and double-yes to the idle range between heat and cool! But then again.. to work where I live (midwest) it'd also need humidity sensors and even then wouldn't really work probably, so I just accept having to constantly fiddle with the temp. when outside is anything above 45-deg. Annoying...

    Custom departure/charging/preconditioning schedule

Hm. Well, in my particular case, I can have both. I just have to hop back & forth between the two Schedule page tabs to make sure both are on. For eg. in my case, it then charges at midnight for however long needed to get to desired SOC, then wakes up to precondition for 8am. A tad clumsy...

Door windows not dropping down slightly in cold weather?

Several times in winters, the windows misbehave. Typically in conditions of around zero-deg.F. Most commonly they come down on door-open then do not go backup on door-close. Sometimes though, maybe 2x or 3x per winter, if lowered for something like a parking ticket/fee, don't go backup at...

    Custom departure/charging/preconditioning schedule

Relatedly... In the T app, at least on Android, if there is currently a Schedule for charging set up, and you go and change the Schedule for Departure, an undesired side-effect is that your Schedule for charging (the other tab) gets disabled. So.. my own...

    Custom departure/charging/preconditioning schedule

What, IMHO, is needed is the One-shot. Charge tonight, just tonight! at 1am. Precondition once for 4:30 pm departure today, just today. No schedule, no location dependency, no recurrence. For a company so enamoured of KISS, it eludes me why this is absent.

    EV6 to a Model Y

Efficiency? MPGe? Miles-per-kwh? On paper, the Y claims better, your experience?

Euro 2019+ Model 3 Trailer Wiring Module ECU and plug whip $300 obo

Perhaps.. Wonder what the ends of the 'whip' look like. The ECU itself/alone might be interesting. If still available, maybe drop me a note [email protected].

    Auto-launching Tesla app on Android

Same. Pixel 3 and a new Pixel 6, both at A.12 do not auto-launch. The Pixel 3 has been at A.12 since November '21 and is orphaned by Google since then so obviously no update there. The Tesla app auto-launched on it reliably every single day (my devices are always turned entirely OFF every...

Model 3 Trailer Hitch Wiring Plug?

Was there any consequence to how the M3 senses the obstruction behind it, eg. bike rack or trailer, using their own custom module? I have a hitch but if I put a bike rack or cargo platform in it the visual always is hazard-orange behind the car and it beeps frantically if I go into Reverse.

Stopped Roof Rack Noise & Whistle

From just my own anecdotal experience... YMMV (with the knock-off rack, not Tesla's) - wrapping a 5, or even 12' long 1/8", or 1/4" dia. bungee cord around the bar had nearly zero impact on noise. To my ears it was actually worse, since not only did it do nothing for the whistle, but it added...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

At least for my circumstances, the update to 2022.4.5.17 made these issues go away. And by "issues" i mean the phantom menace/obstruction/persons that it thought it saw but were not really there. Such a relief to be able to drive about town w/o that scary noise going off every day...

Thoughts after test driving Ioniq 5 from a Model 3 LR owner...

Very kind to share; did you happen to measure mpge/mi-per-wh etc. efficiency? According to fueleconomy.gov, comparing awd long range version of IONIQ-5 with Telsa-Y is pretty bad: tesla=122, ioniq=98 (mpge). Not even close. That alone speaks to quite an engineering gap.

    Phantom Braking

That is a very telling statement, which I can confirm is also true for a 2019 Prius. I.e. vanilla old ICE Toyota tech is performing better, safer, more reliably etc. etc. than a brand new Tesla. Consigning our fancy new luxury 2x-the-price EVs to local errands because too unreliable to gamble...

    Blocked pillar camera alerts

2022 M3 LR, same. Updated recently to 2022.4.5, no change. Sometimes the sun is on that side, but just as often not. Cold still here (Northern MN). Typically in the 20's (F) in garage, single-digit above/below outside. Every time I've bothered to stop & check there's a fog on the pillar...

    FSD following distance

I cannot claim that it has increased or not since brand new M3, but the nominal 7 car lengths max -- at least as currently implemented -- is WAAAAY too short for my comfort. Back in the dark ages I was taught that the rule is 2 seconds: you pass the spot on the road the car ahead of you passed...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

Nope. 2 lane rural roads with adequate shoulders. Granted, there's snow patches, so typically middle nor side line is clearly visible. I've abandoned cruise control entirely now, day & night due to this issue, and because it has now happened a few times in daylight. At least w/o cruise there...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

I have all of 2 weeks on my new M3 LR, and maybe 30-40 miles on night time cruise control. Not auto steer, not even autopilot, just plain vanilla cruise. But the 5-alarm-Alert! keeps going off all the time. About 10 times so far, with nary a single instance of anything to alert about. No...
