    Model Y Dog Guard

Although you are doing the correct thing yourself that is actually not correct about the legal aspect. The Highway Code says that they must be restrained and not be a distraction or, in case of an accident, become a danger to you or themselves. Where and how they are restrained isn't specified...

Anyone in the UK 'upgraded' their Model Y suspension?

I'm genuinely quite bemused about this... I have a MY on 20" wheels and drive mostly on potholed lanes, unmade roads and across fields which apparently should be the worst of the worst but am perfectly happy with the ride. It's definitely on the firm/sporty side and if I hit a pothole too...

@Bathurst This is it with the silicone... not sure if it's particularly visible or not though:

    Model Y Spoilers

I think I posted this a while ago but I used the tape supplied with the Greendrive spoiler and put a bead of black silicone along the front/top edge to hide the gap. Left the bottom edge just with the tape holding it. Car is kept outside and it's still stuck fine after 2000 miles and a couple of...

The weave is the same as the Greendrive one so it looks the same but no idea apart from that sorry.

    Model Y Spoilers

I did place another order with them and no import duty was charged so I think it's just pot luck 🤞 If you do have to pay it then they'll send a 'something to pay' card to you with a reference number which you can go on their website to pay it. Will only be delivered once paid so it adds a...

    Model Y Spoilers

The matt carbon is the same as I went for. Was delivered by Parcelforce and I had to pay import duty on it - around £50 from memory. Easy to fit yes although as mentioned in an earlier comment it does leave a small gap between the spoiler and boot lid of maybe a couple of millimetres - I think...

Anyone in the UK 'upgraded' their Model Y suspension?

I went from a Velar to a MY and would say that, as a very boringly average but probably typical driver, the suspension on the Y doesn't bother me one bit.

    Model Y popularity

I bought one for the practicality and interior space whilst not being an especially big car to drive. Looks are okay for me - quarter and side views I quite like but would admit that I avoid looking at it from directly in front or behind too often... 3's are definitely still more common here in...

    Model Y Dog Guard

I've ordered from them for a few cars and never managed to find a discount code ☹️ I suspect that box is for very one-off reasons or just came as standard with whatever cart software they are using sorry.

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

As a deterrent I'm perfectly happy with Tesla's security and think it's a good balance between that and usability. If someone wants any car badly enough then they'll take it whether that's an organised gang with a flatbed or someone simply bashing you over the head until you give up your pin and...

    Too Cautious with Charging?

Preconditioning always seems to start as soon as I have a route with SuC stop in the satnav even when that's an hour or more away. I've no idea whether it's actively doing anything for all of that time as opposed to just being an acknowledgement that it will try to make sure the battery is up to...

    Too Cautious with Charging?

Whole post is very useful thank you 👍 For that journey I put in my home address and it started the preconditioning as soon as the route was calculated with the SuC stop in it. Would be a pain to have to edit the journey to remove the SuC and add a 'near SuC' but will keep it in mind for the...

    Too Cautious with Charging?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm taking the opinion away that it was probably the right call until I'm at least more familiar with the car and how conditions may affect the range 👍

    Too Cautious with Charging?

That would have been interesting to keep an eye on - didn't think of it at all though on that occasion and just put Keele in as the destination instead.
  16. blert

    Too Cautious with Charging?

I can't honestly remember but I had driven up in the morning and it definitely wasn't near a full charge when I was leaving - maybe 40-45% or so. I've done a few longer (200mile+) trips in now and was apprehensive before the first but it's actually always been a piece of cake. Never queued for a...

    Too Cautious with Charging?

My first Tesla/EV (MY) which I've now had for only a little over a month so still learning! I was driving from Liverpool to Gloucester recently and the nav suggested that I charge at Hilton Park. It started preconditioning as soon as I left and predicted arriving with 3% SoC. This was at about...

    Dotted line - regen

I had this 'issue' (at 72% SoC but about 8 degrees outside) a couple of days ago as well and was wondering about it - thanks for the explanations! 👍

    Model Y UK Delivery

There are also aftermarket air suspension options for the MY. I don't personally have any issues with the ride quality of mine on 20's - definitely on the firm side but that's just added incentive to pay attention to missing potholes 😁

    Model Y Dog Guard

I have to say that I buy a dog guard not just for stopping my dogs from jumping over the back seats but also to keep them in the boot if the world ever turns upside down, gets spinny or stops suddenly. I've no idea how strong the sakura one is and it may well stop 20/30/40kg of furball (or...

This 100% Was a bit 'liberal' with it myself and took a lot of work to get it off - even ended up having to use some T-cut.

    Tesla Screen (Dangerous)

Of the cars I've owned I've liked Audi's UI the best. As a complete car though I think that Tesla's beat their Audi EV equivalents.

    Tesla Screen (Dangerous)

Climate on auto - I should have added that to 'before setting off' list. If there's some freak meterological event which causes the windscreen to mist up while driving with the air conditioning on then open a window (via the physical buttons).
  24. blert

    Tesla Screen (Dangerous)

There's almost nothing that you **have** to immediately adjust irrespective of the traffic conditions. Put the lights and wipers on auto before setting off and there's a physical button to press if you need to wash or clear the screen in addition to those. Entertainment, climate, mirrors...

    Acceleration Boost 2022 (UK)

It 'feels' faster would be my only claim and I don't have any interest in any particular metric of 0-60 etc. so possibly that is absolutely correct. Equally it could be a complete placebo and I just think it's faster because I paid for it to be :D
  26. blert

    Acceleration Boost 2022 (UK)

I have AB and think that it did make a noticeable difference throughout the speed range although would admit that it's pretty unnecessary and the standard car is more than quick enough for 99% of driving. I kept it purely for the smiles and now look forward to traffic lights (as long as I'm at...

What a pain to have to remove it from the car and spoiler and start over :( Hope it comes off easily enough for you!
  28. blert

    Climate - Auto or Manual

Same here - I rarely bothered with the heated seats in past cars as it usually seemed like a faff to think of turning them on and then cycle through the heat settings trying to keep the temperature right. Auto now just works :)

    Model Y UK Delivery

I have no idea about how trade-ins work with Tesla sorry - I would assume it would just be a case of ringing them and getting it transferred over to the new order but wait for someone else who knows what they are talking about to confirm that!
  30. blert

    Model Y UK Delivery

Place a new order for the inventory car and then cancel your existing non-stock order. You may need to pester them to get the deposit back but they will do it. Trying to switch your order to the inventory car will inevitably lead to missing it the speed at which they sell.

    Tesla Screen (Dangerous)

The screen definitely took getting used to for me but after a month I'm now quite happy to use it for all of the common things like climate, satnav, wipers etc. whilst driving. Anything more complicated and I just wait until I'm either stopped or at least on AP if on the motorway. After that...

    Model Y Spoilers

Yep, I was a little disappointed with it not being completely flush. Silicone seemed easier than taking the spoiler off though - removing the 'dual motor' badge was bad enough and trying to get tape residue off the edge of the boot lid would sound like an order of magnitude worse  As I...

    Model Y Spoilers

Looks good Teaston 👍 When fitted, mine had a small gap along the top front edge where it meets the boot lid which was essentially the thickness of the tape - is yours the same? Figured that gap would get filled with grime/muck so I filled it with a very thin bead of black silicone. Pretty much...

    Model Y Dog Guard

Ordered mine a few minutes ago 😁 I've bought their guards for a couple of past cars and even had them make one to order for a custom car with no problem in fit or finish of any of them so pretty confident they'll have the Y right 👍

Model Y UK Insurance Quotes Gone Live

A way around the last minute price hike is to get a quote for 21 days in the future and then ring them (or do it online if they offer that) and amend the start date before the policy commences. Being an inherently disorganised person I've had to do that a few times and without any problems 🙂

I picked up from Bristol and got there about an hour early. The car was doing an update when I arrived so they couldn't complete the handover until that finished but they let me look around it, check whatever I wanted and then did the tablet thing once the update had finished. Sure you'll be...

    Preconditioning for Supercharger...

I was driving from Liverpool to Bristol yesterday and the car started preconditioning for Hilton Park (81 miles,1h 20m) as soon as I put in the destination. Tesla Online Shop - Emails ignored, half the order missing (£500+) What do I do?

No idea about those eBay listings but they have the seller's name and address listed on at least two of them so would doubt they are stolen. My guess is that there was a discount code for some group or a glitch which people took advantage of and bought multiple ones to resell. I didn't even...

No idea if the number changes but try it and see? You can also inform DVLA of a change of owner in a normal letter giving details of the vehicle, who bought it and the date of sale. That can take much longer for them to process though (I have up to 4 weeks in my head?) and is really a last...

Need Tesla Location/trip to avoid Fine
