Update: The delivery date for M3RWD I ordered from inventory on 12/23 has been delayed again. It went from 1/13 to 1/17. Here are all the delivery dates I've had for the car: 12/28, 12/30, 1/3, 1/9, 1/13, 1/17. Very frustrating!

Yep, I used my home zip code. When I asked Tesla delivery why it was shown in inventory when the car was not actually available locally, they said that they put cars in inventory when they are not matched to someone and are in transit.

I asked the Tesla delivery team each time I wanted to know where the car was and sometimes they would tell me. I did this via text message and once in person when I was at a family member's delivery.

An SA I spoke with strongly advised me not to add a trade until VIN was assigned. I take this as confirmation of what you and others have said. I called in today after 2nd VIN was assigned and was able to add a trade-in valuation without any hassle.
