Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

I've been watching drive alongs and it seems pretty nice compared to where it was in 2022! Very excited for how they implement E2E in v12!

Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

Yep! I'm a longtime user and contributor of Openpilot on Toyota vehicles, I actually picked up the Model 3 just to try out FSD Beta and sold it a month later as I'm not into playing the games with safety score. Made money due to pandemic pricing, nutty times. I have realistic expectations...

Model Y arrives tomorrow, is FSD Beta available (considering the recall)?

I sold my Model 3 back in 2022 after never getting into the FSD Beta, was super bummed out. With my Model Y arriving tomorrow, should it be just as easy as paying for the sub and activating it? Or, are invites locked down due to the current recall?

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

A month or so later and I have my roof top tent on, a 200W solar panel with Battleborn Lithium heated battery, inverter, jack, shovel, axe, HAM radio, haha. I have a mount coming today to install Starlink on my Jeep! Funnest car I've ever owned so far! I don't commute for work and have only...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

My partner was remarking around how engine and car designers have such a hard time when cars have been around for 100 years. I replied with something about variable valve timing and figuring out better economy as engines progress, but then got to ranting about how the US automakers prevented...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

Yeah, used ones and "death wobble" is a real concern. I bought mine new with an extended warranty, so I'm not worried too much. I also work from home and don't put many miles on my cars. When you RV, you see Jeeps everywhere as most people get them to flat tow. I paused at getting a smart due...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

Truth be told, I burnt out and left the OP community after being a mod and around there since 2019. I can't stand George Hotz, either and I think the narcissistic tech bro culture isn't something that people should support. I did manage to help get Open Source hardware going with the Retropilot...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

It's funny, I have made fun of Chryslers for years. Only owned one other and the transmission blew up, a used Cherokee. Seems 2020 3.6v engines are blowing up due to crappy valvetrain design, we shall see. There aren't very many automatic vehicles that can be flat towed behind an RV. I was...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

BogGyver will have OP specific hardware available for the HW2+ available in about two weeks! I'm bummed out I'm going to miss it. > Agreed, I'm no fan of Elon Musk for many reasons that I won't go into, but I have to hand it to him: He created a successful, and totally different kind of car...

My 5-month review of driving a Model 3 that I have decided is not for me

I've been a long-time contributor of openpilot, I've driven with the OSS stack across a Prius Prime and Rav 4 before switching to a Model 3 as I was curious what autonomy looked like on the other side of the pond. Once the initial novelty wore off of all of the features and easter eggs, the...

Tesla FSD beta safety score reset

The only way that worked for me was to unsubscribe from FSD, wait a month, then re-sub.

Say hello to an FSD/AP alternative, Comma Openpilot; OSS vehicle autonomy

We are a step closer! We released our open source relay hardware here: https://github.com/RetroPilot/OpenRelay I also know of a community member who works with Tesla vehicles who is designing a specific HW2/3 relay to reduce hardware and cabling. It's not my news to share, yet, so I'm...

When to give up waiting on FSD Beta

Stopped giving them money and never have been happier. If you wanna tinker, try out openpilot, code is fully OSS https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/say-hello-to-an-fsd-ap-alternative-comma-openpilot-oss-vehicle-autonomy.266886/

Tesla Working on Driver Monitoring System

Good to know they are finally working on catching up to Openpilot. Fingers crossed they copy their code so it's half usable: https://github.com/commaai/openpilot/tree/master/selfdrive/monitoring

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

"We have to just hope that - just like Summon - enough people will find it unusable and don't use it until FSD actually gets better." Lmao. The lengths people go to in defending crappy code and design. I'm secretly hoping "FSD" gets banned so they go back to working on the 95% use case...

Tesla FSD beta safety score reset

After three false FCWs in a day, I unsubscribed from FSD and it reset my safety score permanently. My enjoyment of the car, and my stress levels have been much improved!

Camp Mode Battery Drain - M3

Window shades will do well to keep the sun out, especially on the roof. Barring that, ceramic tint to reflect sunlight.

Say hello to an FSD/AP alternative, Comma Openpilot; OSS vehicle autonomy

Greetings, I've been around the comma community since 2019 or so. I was a contributor for a few years and decided to pick up a Model 3 as Toyota is starting to lock down CAN, anyway. I'm not very impressed by AP's performance and while single stack in the future may improve the 95% use case...

The unofficial "when do I get my FSD beta update" FAQ

Bought an M3 to try out AP after using OpenPilot on Toyotas since 2019. Did the FSD sub. AP is nearly a garbage fire compared to OP in terms of quality. Drove like a granny and all was going well until I got three false FCWs, which wrecked my score. Unsubbed from "FSD" and couldn't be happier...

Is Tesla still giving out the FSD beta to qualified drivers?

Heh. I was dropped to 80 due to three false FCWs, and two phantom peds the second week I owned the car. Unsubscribe from FSD, you'll enjoy your car a lot more.
  22. Z

Is FSD Beta still rolling out?

I'd suggest canceling your FSD sub and just not worrying about it. My life has gotten so much better just driving the car and enjoying it.

What happened to this tread just being a place to get the latest Tesla-related tweets? I feel the off-topic banter may be best suited for another thread.

Tesla AP+phantom braking vs what are best non-Tesla AP alternatives?

Can agree. Bought a used 2019 M3 thinking the radar would prevent me from having issues. I've had more phantom braking than literally any other system I've used, and that's saying a lot considering how awful Toyota LTA is. Openpilot also perfectly works fine with Subaru, you should keep it and...

Lol. The "Tesla Bot" is a meme a best. I'm surprised you'd take it seriously.

Tesla AP+phantom braking vs what are best non-Tesla AP alternatives?

Comma Openpilot on any of their supported cars. I've used it since 2019 and it's refreshing to have an open codebase, people who don't lie, and the ability to modify whatever code you want. It can also be installed on Teslas, I'm considering installing it on my Model 3 as AP pales in comparison...

How to delete a safety score mistake

How do you reset it entirely? I had three false FCW warnings that wrecked my score. I've tried opting in and out with no luck. What if I just cancel my FSD sub completely? Will it reset then if I re-sub some time later?
  29. Z

Can I report a phantom braking event?

Yes, hold down on the car icon on the lower-left corner after it happens. This works on non-FSD cars. You'll get a "thank your for your feedback" message.

Picked up my M3 last week, no longer caring about "Safety Score" after two false FCWs and I'm having a blast!

The whole point of a safety mechanism shouldn't be designed to encourage gamified behavior such as running yellow lights and avoiding everyday, normal activities such as going to a car wash. Phantom braking and false FCWs hasn't been something I've experienced since 2019 in either the OpenPilot...

Tesla AP+phantom braking vs what are best non-Tesla AP alternatives?

I have a 2019 M3 LR and I still get frequent phantom braking. Compared to other ADAS systems and OpenPilot, it's unsafe and I can't trust AP; even if I still elect to use it.

Picked up my M3 last week, no longer caring about "Safety Score" after two false FCWs and I'm having a blast!

I'm a long time user and contributor of OpenPilot and picked up a 2019 Model 3 last week. I've never used AP before and apart from the system being less polished than OpenPilot, I was aiming for a high "Safety Score" in hopes of getting into the FSD beta. I've had two false FCWs in the last two...

Questions about a used Model 3 (AP2.5 vs , upgrades, autopilot), I've never owned a Tesla!

This is exactly what I was looking for! It's so hard to find what versions of hardware cars shipped with and I'm relieved to know I'll at least have HW2.5! I'll keep an eye out for EAP, but I'll likely just get HW3 and do the $199 subscription to try it out.

Questions about a used Model 3 (AP2.5 vs , upgrades, autopilot), I've never owned a Tesla!

Gotcha! So what you are saying is that since the car is used and won't have EAP, I'll need HW3 to use Nav on Autopilot, period. Okay, that makes sense! It was confusing that Nav on Autopilot used to be on HW2/2.5 cars and now it seems to be only available if "grandfathered" in. I was hoping to...

Questions about a used Model 3 (AP2.5 vs , upgrades, autopilot), I've never owned a Tesla!

My Tesla will arrive in about a week from Carmax, I am very excited! I have previously been running and hacking on Openpilot on my Rav 4. I had a Chevy Bolt for awhile and enjoyed owning an EV! I am a little confused about the autopilot hardware options and what to expect. The car is a 2018...
