    Side collision deceleration warning frustration

2023.44.30.8.06f534d46010. Good suggestion. There is an Aussie community on this forum.

    Side collision deceleration warning frustration

While a questionable decision, I don't think the vision only system is the problem. It's poor threat assessment and decision making. The car decelerated on me twice yesterday within seconds and a few hundred metres of each other. In both cases vehicles were stationary in a 15m-wide median...

    Side collision deceleration warning frustration

The majority of our main roads are 2-lanes/side dual carriageway with a wide median for cars entering or leaving the road. Vehicles can turn alongside you from the left (if you're in the outside lane), and from the right (if you are in the inside lane). These are perfectly normal situations and...

Does TAAC use regenerative braking when decelerating?

Thanks. I never expect to need to charge beyond 90% so battery SOC shouldn't be an issue. The regen rate appears to be higher when using TAAC than when driving manually. In other words, when TAAC is braking, say from 80kph approaching stopped vehicles for example, the level of braking is higher...

Does TAAC use regenerative braking when decelerating?

I average 15,000km/year. Hopefully I'll still be driving and on my original brake pads in 13 years!

    Unbiased 2-month review of 2022 Model Y

Great review! I've had my M3 since August and I agree with pretty much everything. I much prefer the look of the 3 but that's just taste. I'm quite happy to use voice control for everything it can be used for. I was at our service centre last week with all my complaints about TAAC with detailed...

Does TAAC use regenerative braking when decelerating?

My aim is never to have to replace my brake pads. I'd hate to think that TAAC was using the actual brakes except in an emergency.

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

Subaru has never used radar. A comparison would be interesting.

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

I agree, it doesn't inspire confidence does it! This morning I did have to do 30km down the freeway and back and most of the time driving on the smooth bits with lane following and TAAC on reminded me of traveling on the fast trains in Europe. I did have a phantom braking incident though...

TACC failure on Tesla Vision software

My understanding is that you shouldn't use any sort of cruise control on a wet road. That if you lose traction around a curve it can drive you right off the road. The manual says "Traffic-Aware Cruise Control is primarily intended for driving on dry, straight roads, such as highways."

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

Tesla stopped fitting radar a month or 2 after I ordered. It would be interesting to compare TACC with and without radar.

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

I don't agree with that. On freeways and in heavy, stop, start traffic, TAAC is fantastic. To be fair, the user manual does say "Traffic-Aware Cruise Control is primarily intended for driving on dry, straight roads, such as highways". The conservativeness problem is common to all adaptive...

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

Yes, it's definitely conservative. I'm sure there'll be a time when processing power is such that it could do that. I've long felt that more smarts need to be in the road itself. Certainly freeways. So that traffic can be organised for optimum throughput. Human drivers are too slow and do...

...or if there's room, steer around them.

I do miss my Honda's dumb cruise control!

I used to use my Honda's cruise control everywhere - 50kph zones, 60kphs zones etc and every sort of road. It was a great way to avoid speeding tickets and I didn't have to keep my foot on the accelerator all the time. All the control buttons required were right under your right thumb. As great...

How to know what options you have?

Thanks very much for the responses. I'll change lanes and park by myself for now! WRT HomeLink, sadly, the Tesla shop is telling me "Accessory is not compatible with any of your vehicles". I'll confirm that with the Service Centre.

How to know what options you have?

I've had my Model 3 Long Range for 5 days and I'm absolutely stoked! The car is everything I hoped it would be. I've been through the Owner's Manual online thoroughly while sitting in the car and tried pretty much everything. In many places, the Owner's Manual contains the statement...
