Reduced to 3k in ON, gone in BC.

Model X in Canada - Status

Concord Pacific demo center has two chargers, one of which is a Tesla HPWC. Concord seems to be pretty EV friendly, the annual EV show is on their lot.

Magnetic? Unlikely. Too easy to steal or move to other vehicles.

Body Shop Repair Costs--for me, a deal killer?

She was pulling onto a main road from a driveway. Turned too early and clipped a concrete curb. While that seems innocent enough, the part that really grinds my gears is that she continued forward after the first impact - you can see along the rear door where the scrub starts - and kept...

Body Shop Repair Costs--for me, a deal killer?

For the record ... a) above comment was completely tongue in cheek - you know, just in case anyone thought otherwise. b) wife has been given notice that she will not be driving the Tesla again, under any circumstances!

Body Shop Repair Costs--for me, a deal killer?

So what I'm hearing here is that this one should only cost me like $4-5 hun, right?

Body Shop Repair Costs--for me, a deal killer?

No, 20k for complete replacement of the quarter panel, plus some door repairs and repainting. Once the quarter panel needs to be replaced, it doesn't matter if it's a small scrape or completely ripped open, cost is the same.

    Tesla moments

Over two years of ownership, my response has changed by bits over time. But lately, I've been saying "If I something happened and I lost the car today, I'd order another tomorrow. Wouldn't even consider anything else."

Radio Flyer makes a Tesla Model S for kids

For the Canadians in the crowd ... I sent an email to their customer service, inquiring about bringing the toy into Canada. The main concern I had is that it has the proper electrical approvals - either a CSA or C-UL approval is required for any electrical equipment in Canada. Yes, I could...

    Charging in the Rain?

My solution was 25 cents worth of industrial grade velcro. Wrap the cable around and velcro to the side of the metal enclosure.
  12. KenN

    Charging in the Rain?

There's a general consensus that the weight of the charger is hard on the plug end of the cable. Some have found that the connection between the cable end and the interchangeable adapter starts to get a bit wiggly over time.

    Charging in the Rain?

I live in Vancouver and park outdoors. If I couldn't charge in the rain then I'd be unable to charge all winter! Two winters of charging in the rain and I haven't been electrocuted yet!!

Is there a way to prop up the wipers in advance of snow

Oh fer... just preheat the car for minimum 15 minutes before driving, and you'll never scrape another window!

Body Shop Repair Costs--for me, a deal killer?

The skillset and equipment costs to do bodywork is expensive. Costs are similarly high for any car with aluminum skin. I'm dreading the bill for my upcoming repair. Wife turned early and ripped it open on a curb.

    Western Canada Superchargers

My guess of Van or Cgy is based on Tesla's own map as presented on their website.

Just as likely Vancouver or Calgary would be next as those will probably be co-located with new service center sites.

Chinese market has been invited to configure the X? Colour me surprised.

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

This just provides fodder for the argument that Tesla's model of placing several charging stalls at each site is the correct way to implement chargers. Plopping a single DCFC in random locations is problematic with or without Teslas in the long run as EV uptake increases.

    Model X 2015 deliveries

Oh are you ever going to see your monthly fuel costs drop!

Some are free, others not. Typically, they are free when they first go live, then as usage increases they switch to a 0.35/kWh rate. Victoria, Nanaimo and Merritt have the fee while Duncan, NorthVan and Squamish are no cost. In either case, download the geeenlots app to your smartphone and...

Want My Model X Reservation? It's ready to configure now!!

You can't transfer a reservation, but there's no way Tesla can prevent a buyer from selling the car immediately after delivery.

The data is pulled directly from supercharge.info. For the "online" dates, you'll find it pretty accurate. For dates when they report "permit issued" or "construction start", it relies on the eyes of locals who spot the activity. So start of construction at Woodstock was probably weeks...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

Actually, if we look at last year, it's conceivable that Tesla might start a late year push to build a bunch of sites before the new year. Kingston, Canmore started construction week of Nov 3, 2014, but Kingston didn't open until Jan 29 and Canmore March 11, 2015. Kamloops starte construction...

The car is advised of max current when the cable is plugged in. Since the external charger does not know what it's plugged into, the car just reports what charger tells it. Then the car draws as much as it can from the external unit.

Yes, I did check both photos for clues to an 8th stall, but comparing the two photos, looking at spacing, visible conduit and excavation, I couldn't picture where it would fit. Just my POV, of course.

    New Tesla Android App Available

So here's an interesting data point. I have the Android app installed on my tablet and on my phone. Tab is running 4.4.2, phone is running 5.1. Both have been reporting notifications fine, but last night I got a "charging interrupted" notice for the first time. Presumably just a power sag...

    Western Canada Superchargers

That's pretty obvious. But the business case is driven by estimating how many new cars could be sold by connecting to Regina or Saskatoon (servicing a total population of 1.1 mill) vs a SC in Vancouver (servicing a total population of over 2 mill). Choosing to live in a remote area has its...

    Western Canada Superchargers

Bear in mind that Tesla's map shows a planned SC site at Merritt, so a stop in Merritt will easily enable travel to Kelowna or south OK, even in winter. Given that, I think a better location would be down near Osoyoos or Keremeos would be better in the long term, as that would open up travel...

If they can't find a property owner/manager that will provide favorable lease terms then there won't be a supercharger in a given locale.
