Thoughts on the i4 M50 from a former M3P owner

I was a longtime bimmer guy up until recently. They are absolutely one of the best handling/dialed in cars out there. Just cannot get past how they look now though. MB are just as bad, design wise, imo. If you like it then congrats and enjoy.

How to replace cabin air filter 2016 to 2020 Model S

Great DIY video. Thanks and will use this next weekend. Mine is a 2017 and unfortunately it's behind the glove box.

Different Ways to Add (red/other) Color to (Classic Models S/X) Brake Calipers

Just my 2 cents from painting calipers for my past 2 BMWs and now our MS and MX. For the bimmers, I use to remove wheels, mask everything up, brake cleaner then 1. Primer 2. 4 coats of high temp engine spray paint 3. Gloss coat. It was the fastest and best looking method bc the results were nice...

"Paint" coming off under front emblem

I used a chrome delete set from TesBro. Not super hard to install and car looks much nicer w/o chrome. You may be able to buy chrome vinyl is you don't want to remove the piece.

    Model X Black T emblems

Little late but I just use plastidip for both my wife's MX and my MS. Even with Glossifier as a last coat, it still looks matte which I'm ok with. It's easy and can be peeled off if you decide you don't want it. Wife's MX is white and my S is red. All chrome delete for both cars.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Good luck. I'm def no expert so I can't argue with their statement. I hope it works out for you and I really wanted to love mine bc the adjustability is awesome. I don't think mine had the bottom out issue mentioned, it just felt like there was no give which was great on turns but not so great...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Also, just FYI, my set came with 16k front/10k rear. I checked and the BC set comes with 14k front/6k rear. That diff may have affected my ride.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Hi, That's tough. From my experience, coilovers in general are much stiffer than your OE ride. I tried dialing the compression all the way up, softest setting and it was still harsh, like I can feel every imperfection on the road. Freeways were not any better, like the car bounced around. Keep...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Hi everyone. After having it installed for a couple of months, I just couldn't get the ride as smooth as I wanted it. I then realized that the springs that came with the setup was much stiffer than it I would've preferred so I bought a new set of softer springs. Before I had a chance to install...

    Blackvue rear camera- free

Bought a pre owned MX for the wife and this was attached to the rear. We have no need for it so I'm offering it for free. Just send me postage and I'll mail it out. It's just the camera, no cables bc I had to cut them.
  12. N

    What are these cables/camera for?

Bought a pre owned X for my wife and found a couple of cables hanging from the rear view mirror area and a camera on the inside of the rear glass. Obviously, they're for cameras but what is the purpose for these, especially the rear facing one since the car has a backup camera. Also, was this OE...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Yes. These can be set at any height and I'd find a custom tuning shop for the install. It's straight forward but they'll know how to adjust it better.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

That's what I thought. My BMW 640 is lower than this car but when you look underneath, the tesla has less ground clearance, about 4" so with passengers, I'm scraping on speed bumps.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

I didn't. They just sent the standard for street use. Although i love the way it looks, I'm taking it back tomorrow to raise it 1/2". Apparently, MS' hang really low underneath so I'm scraping everywhere at 28" bottom of fender to ground. Probably why they moved to smart air.

Los Angeles area curb rash repair recommendation request

My repair covered a large part of the lip. After about a year, the black paint was rough to the touch, not the high gloss of the powdercoat. For a small area you probably won't notice. For a permanent solution, it's best to get it powdercoated. I would definitely do it again if it was just the...

Los Angeles area curb rash repair recommendation request

Nope. They'll have the paint and will blend to match your color. Mine was gloss black so it was easy. Keep in mind, the touch up paint is spray paint not powdercoat so it won't last as long.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Yes, these can be used at stock height. The tech turned the collar a number of times to get it to 1". My concern would be longevity bc low to mid level aftermarket coilovers tend not to last that long compared to OE.

BC Racing YG-04 BR Coilovers Lowering Coils Set for 2012-2022 Tesla Model S RWD

Hey everyone. Finally had the install today. Here's the link to my update: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/coilover-suspension-upgrade-on-non-air-ride-tms.223118/page-3#post-6931695

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Update finally: So, I ended up ordering the Airtekk coilovers, after not being able to get the BC's and D2's. Ordered about 2 months ago and it came in about 6 weeks to the shop. Finally had a chance to get it installed today. I wanted to go conservative so just a 1" drop before settling. From...

BC Racing YG-04 BR Coilovers Lowering Coils Set for 2012-2022 Tesla Model S RWD

Hi. Well the car was scheduled to do the install today. Unfortunately, D2 sent the wrong kit. It was for the Model 3. So the shop is contacting D2 to see if they really have a kit for the MS. Otherwise, we may have to go the Airtekk route. Will keep you updated again.

Considering Model X (Current Model 3 Owner)

No advice here but I'm in the same boat. Recently picked up a model S for my wife and in the market for a X to replace our X5. I've done as much research as I can without actually ever being in the car (youtube vids, forums, etc). I've concluded that it's safest to avoid 2016s since it was the...

Los Angeles area curb rash repair recommendation request

I used Alex Fix Wheels. It's also a mobile service. I paid $80/wheel a couple years ago. I couldn't see the damage afterwards on a gloss black lip. I'm also in the southbay. For larger jobs, i.e. bent wheels, powdercoating, I take it to LAX wheel finishing in downtown.

BC Racing YG-04 BR Coilovers Lowering Coils Set for 2012-2022 Tesla Model S RWD

Little update. So it turns out BC does not make coilovers for the model S RWD, only the AWD. All the adds online are incorrect or at least they're not available anymore. This was confirmed by the tuning shop I went to this morning who spoke to BC directly. Good news was they were able to contact...

BC Racing YG-04 BR Coilovers Lowering Coils Set for 2012-2022 Tesla Model S RWD

Funny you posted because I've been looking myself. The only info is from the other post with the airtelkk coilovers and no updates. I was going to go for mtm's Paragon set but decided bc would be advantageous because of the parts available should something happen down the line. I'm deciding...

My First Tesla and I have questions

I had sticker shock a month ago when I found out how much it costs to insure a tesla. We have a BMW 6 series and X5 and the tesla cost as much to insure as both vehicles combines, basically doubling our annual rate. I use to wash my cars at home using the blower method but now, due to laziness...

My Model S 85D and Tesla life at 100K miles

I just bought my wife a 2017 s75 so I have some shopping experience but nowhere near the ownership experience as these members. First off, expect to pay alot more than what the car was valued 2 years ago. I ended up paying close to $60k for a 2017, granted it only had 18k miles. The car came...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Yes, its on their website. I think its their house brand so me being a skeptic, assumes he's just pushing his stuff. Does anyone know if all these lower priced coilovers are just the same stuff, just rebranded and anodized different colors (bc, fv, paragon)? Alot of the carbon fiber parts are...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Thanks. I did read multiple forums with air suspension owners complaining also. Just thought these cars would ride as comfy as all my past and current BMWs which were all as heavy. May have to go back to 19s or do the coilover route and hope that's better.

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

From what I've read, they stopped making coil around May/June 2017. Sad part was there was a 2018 with air in white for the same price but my wife insisted on red. Oh well. So Justin from MTM suggested their Paragon brand because he claims it's better for comfort which I'd rather take over...

Coilover suspension upgrade on non-air ride TMS

Any updates? Just bought a '17 rwd for my wife and it's a pretty rough ride, made even worst because I went from 19s to aftermarket 20s. Was looking at either the MTMs or BC coilovers. It's only been a month of ownership and I'm already regretting not looking for an air suspension one. I have a...

Configuration of 20 Inch Wheels & Tires

It's actually my wife's car and I went with Falken azenis. Have those on my bmw m6 and I think they're a good balance between performance and comfort. Plus, my wife prefers comfort over ultra performance anyday.

Configuration of 20 Inch Wheels & Tires

Ahhh. No need. I just played it safe and went 245s. Thanks for the info.

Configuration of 20 Inch Wheels & Tires

Thanks. Another question, just curious what your front wheel size and offset. Wondering if there's anyway to get away with the 255s in the front without rubbing ( diff offset, etc). Otherwise I'll just play it safe and go 245s. Thanks.

Configuration of 20 Inch Wheels & Tires

Question....I'm about to order a set of 20s. Coming from the stock 19s, my initial thought was to go with a square setup (255s all around) to minimize road noise and possibly keep the similar range. Do you noticed a difference with road noise running a staggered setup and with more tire/road...
