Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

I am, but not in a state where safety score matters. I’m monitoring in case it moves to leverage it, at which point I’ll have a decision to make

Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

Same here. Completely ridiculous. Why not include rain, high-traffic, city driving, New York at all times, etc...? What about parking on the street vs garage? or too close to the person next to you? I "get" what Tesla is trying to do, but I think exterior conditions is going too far

    Matrix Headlights Capabilities Enablement Timeline

I enabled "fully functional" on my 2015 BMW M4 -- "anti-dazzle" as it was called -- since 2015 and it's been working super well since. It's a bit of a shame that, 8 years later, I'm back to standard on/off on my newer ultra-high-tech Tesla.

    That hurts

    New changes to Model S

I wonder if Tesla realized that the brakes they put on the Plaid originally were not good enough. And if we can use that fact to get ours upgraded... at no cost to us.

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Looks like better brakes for the Plaid, too

Guide To A Perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta Queue, or Tesla Insurance reasons. (Whether you like it or not)

Wow the late night driving has material impact. I wonder if/when folks will start complaining about that, especially those who have jobs that require late night / early morning driving The one thing I'm still surprised to see *not* show up here is speeding, and potentially ridiculous...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

That's odd indeed for a street car. Good for the track, though.. but this isn't a track car

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Wow thanks for (1) taking the time to work with Michelin, and (2) spelling out steps for us to take Please keep us posted here if/when they get back to you. Definitely curious to know whether it's a manufacturing defect with the tires, or something wrong with the cars. I'm at 1k miles and no...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Looks like that's the older version of the car, which happens to be heavier and on 19s -- agreed that they make it dependent on the tire size. I'll keep to 40-42, with 40 being recommended
  12. DaBean

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

FWIW I checked my tire pressures after 1,200 miles and found that they were all at 35. Door sticker said 40 so bumped them to that. Where does this group get the direction to pump up to 42 or 45?

EAP -> FSD Price after Sept 5?

By that rationale it should still be the original price ($3k was it?)
  14. DaBean

EAP -> FSD Price after Sept 5?

Called Tesla and, predictably, they don’t know.
  15. DaBean

EAP -> FSD Price after Sept 5?

Sounds like nobody knows… just guesses so far.
  16. DaBean

EAP -> FSD Price after Sept 5?

My guess would be $6k, $7.5k, or $9k. But that’s why I’m asking to see if anyone actually knows. Debating whether to pony up for it now…
  17. DaBean

EAP -> FSD Price after Sept 5?

Today it costs $6k to upgrade from EAP to FSD ($6k EAP + $6k upgrade = $12k FSD) Does anyone know what this pricing will be when FSD goes up to $15k?

Thoughts on Yoke from Plaid owner

I say this as a yoke adopter, this is a nice wheel. It would certainly be welcome for Tesla to offer it as an option. FWIW I'd still take the yoke (I actually find it more comfortable esp when using autopilot)
  19. DaBean

    Thought I'd start a RN116X thread (group).

This is speculative, but may be worth calling Tesla. If you change your order prior to delivery, your changes are at the original prices (e.g. when I upgraded from LR to Plaid I paid the Plaid price from when I ordered, not the current pricing). So that may also apply to FSD. If not, you will...

First no charger, now no key fob, what's next??

If you moved away from Tesla, sounds like you went to a traditional automaker that offers options for nearly everything. Included in that list of options could be the MC and the key fob. Those OEMs also include heated seats, better sound system, exterior cameras, heated steering wheel, more...

First no charger, now no key fob, what's next??

Which is probably what I'd do. I honestly don't see the day coming where I do that, so it's moot. I don't drive to work, and if I do I have free charging there. I don't take many road trips, so unless that changes I'll keep my single MC
  23. DaBean

First no charger, now no key fob, what's next??

I use the mobile connector with the 240v outlet that the previous owner had already installed in my garage, so all I had to do was buy the 14-50 adapter. Def cheaper than a wall connector. Just because I bought a 6-figure car doesn't mean I'm going to spend an additional few hundred or a...

First no charger, now no key fob, what's next??

I admit I would have been annoyed if Tesla removed the fob, but then I'll also admit I haven't used it even once... So I guess joke's on me

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Interesting. I've been at 70%, and I drive so infrequently that I probably will end up plugging the car in just once per week. I wonder if I should plug it in more often and leave it plugged in. Thoughts?

Can you elaborate? Charge to 90% and then recharge to 90% every night, or hold off on charging until it reaches a certain threshold (unless range is needed, of course)?

Depends on the location. Mine was very underwhelming. You can read up about it in the thread I linked. Maybe some people like the hands off... Yes, but most places won't let you open the car before payment. As mentioned above, most places won't let you inspect the interior of the car before...

Safety score says forward collision warnings when none ever occurred

Same thing happens in my neighborhood. I’ve only had this car for a few days but if I get a FCW every time I drive home that’ll be a problem! +1. Follow too closely, have the car displayed in red instead of grey. Maybe tweet at Elon?

    Model S 2022 to Model Y 2022 - Should I switch?

Y/3 do not have the same power at highway speeds. Definitely go test drive one... and I am willing to bet you'll stick with the S. BUT, with that said, 3/Y are a better "value" in terms of TCO while still owning a Tesla, and of course you can go cheaper with a Leaf or other entry-level EVs...

    New Model S Plaid Ordered!

All S and X are produced on the same line. It's just a matter of mix shift to determine allocation. I'm not surprised that Plaid demand is decreasing. The market for a $35k markup over a vehicle that, for all intents and purposes, is far more vehicle than anyone needs on a daily basis is...

You have three options: 1) Get another car 2) Get one of those (ugly) steering wheel attachments 3) Learn to drive with the yoke Is it perfect? Model S Yoke Horn Confirmed

I’ve also had 2 encounters where I needed the horn in 2 days of owning the car. And both times all I got to do is feel how soft the leather of the airbag cover is. No sound. So Tesla has enough resources to program an AROOOGA horn sound, but not enough to enable the center button that’s...

It's just a hypothesis, of course... but would make sense to me. If I think of how much space we had dedicated to QC, it's basically the whole NW side of the plant. This included both Corolla and Tacoma inspection lines, offline inspection, sound & water tunnels, and massive repair/staging...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

It's either the lack of care/prioritization (as they know customers will take most cars, at least they have up to this point) or the lack of capability. I do think that it's the former, as the latter exists in the global manufacturing knowledge base. To your point, they are producing more...

That part saddens me. My first job was a QC engineer at the NUMMI plant (predecessor to Tesla). We had such high standards for quality... While I'm thrilled that the plant has seen a third life (it was GM before the Toyota/GM joint venture of NUMMI), and I'm proud to finally own a car coming...
