Rumour: Model 3/Y to lose stalks in 2023 model year

Ahh a BX. I had a ‘91 BX and it’s still in my top 3 of cars (the Model Y isn’t troubling the top 10). Far far more comfortable way to travel and it also had bags of character.

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

The point I’m trying to make is that Tesla do follow the industry norm, just with less impact. The little production changes are the sort of thing that happen at model year changes or half model year changes, or even in between. The Raven cars were like a mid cycle refresh, but limited to...

Didn’t mean to offend you by liking the post, educated debate is preferable as you say. There are some fervent folk on here and it’s that sentiment I was agreeing with.

I still prefer the JLR software, aka CarPlay. And I didn’t have Pivi Pro. But ETTO 👍

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Yep, and four years ago they were so far ahead of the game. That’s part of my frustration, the lack of improvement since then. They could easily have taken that EV lead and spent the last few years trying to build a more engaging, fully featured and interesting car. But no, just growth and...

Even in production constrained 2021 and with both as about to be replaced models (by real new models), LR produced 57k Range Rover Sports and 43k Range Rovers. Your less than 20k is US only. Yes few changes. You and I both know that other manufacturers don’t just change a few body panels...

Nice choice, hope the Tesla bounces a little in value for you. I don’t know how long I will keep my Tesla, and I really value the smoothness and convenience of EV…so wouldn’t go back to ICE. But agree with pretty much all your points and I will be amazed if I ever buy another Tesla. The lack...

Yeah call me a pessimist on that 🤣🤣🤣 but as a Prius replacement, pretty good.

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

NB. Meant to say….if nothing else, the Model Y is far too perfect as an urban/semi-urban taxi for values not to plateau. I’ve already seen a couple of MY taxis around here and that’s going to be a really strong market for the car s/h.

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Haha I ran two £80k Discoveries for 3 years for a net cost of about £10k. 5 months in a Tesla has cost £22k. Sure is a lot of fuel and servicing. Whilst factual, i don’t think this will continue quite as badly and we will probably be generally looking at 50% loss over 3 years like any mass...

    TESLA UI / UX

I love that somebody managed to press disagree to this post 😂😂 that really does sum up the fan boy mentality. For the disagreer - try cooled seats, heated third row, HUD, 360 cameras, auto-parking as standard, heated windscreen, opening glass roof, 9 USBs, rear video screens, electrically...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Thanks, I was pretty sure that there was something they retailed via. My brain was telling me Cazoo but I knew that was wrong! I guess they would be paying more for cars they need for Cinch rather than those they are punting out at auction. I spent a year checking my Disco price on both...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

WBAC buy cars that then go through BCA auctions, aiming to sell at a profit over what WBAC paid, to a trader who will then need to take further profit. Motorway is an auction direct to the traders and large dealer network buyers. As is Carwow. If your car is in demand at a particular dealer...

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Don’t panic. Appreciate it’s a pain being stuck in a crappy car that hasn’t met expectations, but, first world problems, it’s still an ok car really. The current situation is a huge imbalance in supply and demand. Demand for s/h Teslas is probably approximately what it was six months ago...

58% retained value/42% depreciation as the poster you quoted showed for your car. Mine WBACs today at £38k vs £58k new. So a 35% loss in five months. The ICE car on our drive WBACs at 58% of its new invoice price, also 42% depreciation. Not bad for over 9 years of ownership.

You could sacrifice 80% of your wish list and Tesla would still be ruled out. The incredible thing is that the technology items on your list have been around for absolutely ages and yet the company that tries to be known as “a tech company not a car company” doesn’t have them. When I first...

Interesting article that, cheers. I’m definitely in the best product (for my needs at that time) camp, rather than brand loyal. 8 brands across 12 cars and only Toyota, BMW and Land Rover managed repeat purchases. Those three would probably still be my go to if they had the product - for...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

Nope. I bought the car knowing about some major flaws and not expecting them to change. With familiarity, some things (material quality) are better than expected, some things (tech) are worse. Which is normal with any car to have a gradual change in views with experience. Especially one that’s...

Many people contrast OTA with competitors, hence the comparison with what features competitors offer. Quicker car and faster charging both sound great! When were they added and how much difference? I guess you have a model 3?

The poster above in listing benefits of OTA. And it’s been mentioned many times on this forum. I love how we are pulling apart that sentence rather than just admitting it’s a bit crap that it had to be added years into the model’s lifecycle. Now, please tell me what’s so good that’s been...

PS. This is an amazing piece of spin, congratulations. People have to accept that that other cars come with more functions, and better-functioning ones. And they have to live with those better functions and features with no expectation of change. I’m not particularly expecting Tesla to fix...

I’m not missing that point, I understand it. What the discussion centred around is what has actually been added recently that is either of any value or should not have been present from day one. Catching up or closing the gap to other manufacturers is ok, but it’s even better to have those...

I do enjoy the fan speed low/medium/high being admired as an example of Tesla innovation. Our 2013 Auris has that. As have the four other new cars I’ve owned between buying that and the Model Y. Sure, it’s good that that this incredibly basic feature exists now, but it’s a joke that it’s taken...

Was the chap a few pages back offering up an identical car at an identical time in identical circumstances? I’m not even sure it was an M3P, never mind mileage and condition (but happy to be corrected). Nobody loved it, people pointed out why that valuation might have occurred and other...

You’re trolling again. The guy posted quite reasonably that he ordered in April 2022. I suspect you’ve been here long enough and regularly enough to note that the USS removal was observed here considerably later. No need to question why he ordered a new model to replace the old one he was...

Wait a second. I might have spent this morning driving eastbound along the M4, feeling a bit of a loser in front of my passenger as the car dry wiped the windscreen everytime I used the washers (hey, it was sunny, who could code software for that?!), or feeling I had to apologise after...

What Tesla did in those ‘early’ days, people waking up to increased range etc. , was clever and has bought them an awful lot of good PR of the ‘the car improves over time’ nature. I remain to be convinced that anything of significance is being added these days. I’m not giving huge credit for...

Yes, I think the Cybertruck is a misstep. As you say, it’s effectively US-only. The F150/Silverado/Ram pie that they’ve aimed it as is undoubtedly a huge one. But is it the right product? I’m not a potential buyer, but I wouldn’t entertain one if I wanted that kind of vehicle, and I doubt that a...

I’m the same with Mercedes, they just don’t chime with me. The Chinese stuff generally looks great for the money. Genuinely a better product and cheaper. I’m purely put off by the macro political situation with China and conscious of supporting with a big ticket purchase. (And aware that I’ve...

It’s interesting, and I’m not knocking you for having that view as many would say the same. But for the quality and content of the product, I found the Tesla price harder to swallow than any of Kia/Hyundai/Skoda. In particular I felt that the EV6 and Enyaq felt more commensurate with their price...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I can’t see it, the competition is getting stronger all the time and there is little sign of Tesla bringing out a compelling new model. Overall I would rather have a more interesting, better quality, better equipped vehicle that’s more comfortable. The Model Y is fine as a basic EV transport...
  36. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Agreed. It’s an indication that the demand is beneath the supply. If they take this car they want it cheap to protect their risk. Could be that they have a limit either in numbers or (more likely?) in pounds of how many of each car they will carry. Or their storage is becoming limited (incurring...
  37. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

Exactly. Tesla’s bid indicates how much they want the Model 3 in question, it doesn’t mean somebody else won’t bid higher. It’s one isolated data point.
  38. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

What high horse? Jeez, I just gave some info including alternatives. Tesla are not the only horse in town for trade prices for Teslas. A Golf R is neither here nor there and the value of a Golf R is going to have zero influence on what Tesla wish to bid for a Model 3.
  39. MashinBenzin

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

It’s not a joke, it’s a reflection of how much Tesla want a four year old Model 3 on their books, nothing more. They probably have rather a lot after all the trade-ins for Model Ys. If not happy with the price offered, try elsewhere. An auction on carwow or Motorway will give a very clear idea...

Snow with the Model Y RWD

My layman’s theory is that the bigger efficiency impact will be in summer when range is good anyway, so a hit can be absorbed. On a freezing wet winter’s day when the range is down to 200 miles anyway, I suspect the increased rolling resistance will barely figure. Just a guess.

    New salary sacrifice prices

Yep, true of every PCP I’ve done. For info, the GFV now (against a list of £53k) is higher by £2k than my March 2022 order (when the list was £55k). So Tesla have seemingly more confidence in residual values.

Snow with the Model Y RWD

I had the Scorpion Zero All Seasons (21s) on my two Disco 5s, they are good. I’m going to switch my MY to them (or other AS tyres) before next winter. Hopefully will have got 50% life or more out of the current summer tyres by then.

[UK] used value of their Tesla cars plummeting?

I’ve not read every recent post, so apologies if this is already covered. WBAC’s price is what many of us use as a rough barometer for value, but it is only reflective of how much they want your model of car on the forecourt and that changes fast as they buy and sell stock. My MY jumped £6k...

I had that engine in a rwd 440i, it was (and is) a gem. Had a memorable traffic light GP with a M140i on a curving road and the lack of traction/sudden break of traction in the 1-er was very noticeable, not surprised they met trees! Other than that, I imagine they handled a whole lot better than...
