    So… Highland is out…

It’s a nice list of new features. What stands out to me though is what it doesn’t have: indicator stalks! Not good for a country with roundabouts. I think this will be a showstopper for some people….

    Powerwall and Octopus intelligent issues

I assume this is a 3 phase consumer unit? Reason I ask is I have an old house with 3 phase incoming, but then 2 individual consumer units, effectively giving me 2 single phases and a dormant phase. My zappi is on the phase with the solar pv incoming. This works ok, but I would look to optimise...

Q2 Collections - new owners thread

Come on Watty those are rookie numbers and you really need to pump them up. Our Y is at 11687 miles and has been sat in accident repair for 2 months. Hopefully we’ll have her back in a few weeks looking good as new…

    [UK] 2023.20.x

So Elon said today that FSDb 11.4.4 goes out this week. My hope is this is on the main/latest 2023.20 version and that subsequently brings us closer to UK AP / EAP improvements.

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Yes and no. It’s a guilty pleasure. There’s a lot to like and a lot of car, 7 seats, etc. However it’s like piloting a barge and too big for the back roads. I have to keep stopping as I can’t fit through gaps a normal sized car can. It makes our Q5 seem like a go-kart. I’ll let you know when I...

Ceramic Coating - Yes or No

Good choice on the colour. I went with Gyeon and did it myself at home, mainly as I couldn’t be without the car for a few days if it went into the detailers. I also did the glass roof etc. As others have said, it’s all in the prep and the dirt does come off easier once applied. However the...

Damage has been assessed and Insurer have approved the repair. Parts were ordered and one part was on back order which they should have just received. So the repair is about to be underway. Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Ok lads. A post I didn’t want to make. We got the car in September 2022. We’ve done 11,600 miles in 7 months. Mrs T on the commute. Today I was involved in a freak road traffic collision. A car towing a caravan in the opposite direction had the caravan detach and cross the carriageway hitting...

My issue isn’t quite the same, but this is the latest thread on Spotify, so jumping on. I’m on 2023.2.12 with premium connectivity. I am signed into Spotify with my own account. I keep having an issue where Spotify signs out and music stops playing. This is frustrating as signing back in isn’t...

    Newbie charging querie

Not sure what’s going on with the amps, perhaps due to a cold battery? For IO have you set it up for the Tesla now (added the car)? IO should control the charge by calling the Tesla api (which is the same as you clicking charge in the Tesla app). For the schedule, the method I use is: - Toggle...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Octopus iOS app and website not working fully for me last night / this morning. Not wanting to risk it (as no schedule could be seen) I started the charge from the Tesla app at 11pm. It then seems to have followed a typical IO schedule in the early hours, as seen in Tessie app: So a ‘no...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Thanks for the response - yeah my question is should I trust it to charge, given that I don’t see a schedule in the app at 11pm. I admit I’ve not had a problem yet (in 6 weeks of ownership) and don’t always check. However when you do check it would be reassuring to see the schedule and not have...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

I’ve had a MY since September. I nearly always reverse into our driveway. I also find this more difficult than in my previous/other cars. My wife has also commented on this. It’s most difficult in the dark & rain, obviously not using the reverse camera as it is obscured. I’m not sure what it is...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I’ve been having issues with the IO schedule being generated this week. When i plug in at around 8pm the session hasn’t shown in Octopus app by 11pm. As I didn’t want to risk being too low for a long journey the next day I started the charge manually from Tesla app at 11pm (figuring it was...

    Berlin made cars

I agree. Shanghai also has to make RHD for Australia, Japan, Singapore. Doing a run of RHD and sending a few RoRos for UK&I isn’t anything new for them and is still a win if the rest of LHD Europe demand is met from Berlin. I personally think waiting for a Berlin car in the UK is pointless...

    Model Y insurance high?

Prices seemed to jump up for those of us that had to insure from Q3. My existing insurer wouldn’t insure, so I ended up with ‘Hastings Premium’. You could also try Admiral if Direct Line / Churchill aren’t working out for you. Speculation is it is because it’s a new powerful car and Tesla...

Your call. I decided I would switch to IO. The car doesn’t really need the extra time, but the household can benefit slightly. Eg electric underfloor heating in the bathroom until 0530. FWIW I’ve had zero issues with the car charging.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

You could try and just disconnect the charger from the Wi-Fi / network. Octopus works by asking the car to start/stop charge, so as long as the charger will give it power when it asks you should be good. Eg put the charger in whatever mode it needs to be to give instant/fast charge...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Radar didn’t interfere with vision, but it potentially conflicted. When people show their garage wall is being interpreted as a lorry this could be the type of issue they are trying to solve here. Sure, they didn’t have to remove USS to achieve that before the tech was proven ready, so maybe...

You still get the slots which are set by IO, just the car won’t charge after 0530 unless it hasn’t met its target %. You can always set the end time later if you wish, but in reality my car is fully charged well before this time anyway so wouldn't make much difference. Not sure if this will...
  42. Toblerone

  43. Toblerone

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

I’d say it’s a desire to simplify. It will save cost on physical parts and build, but will cost more short/medium term in software engineers and computing. Just like with radar they are eliminating sensor conflict and doubling down on vision. There are posts on here today of people complaining...

Brand New Model Y - Metallic Taste

    Model Y UK Delivery

Cars delivered in September from Shanghai don’t have it. Texas & Berlin cars do have it. In any case my rear seatbelts don’t rattle, as they rest against the seat. If they cause issues you can tuck them in or apply (any colour) felt tape.

There owners manual says this for off-peak charging: Of course Octopus could issue a stop charging command at some point.
  48. Toblerone

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

The way I think it works is if the Car / Tesla app is set to ‘Off-peak’ charge it wont automatically start charging when you plug-in during the evening. Then Octo sets the schedule and when ready triggers the charge, at which point the car does what it is told. Now maybe the car wouldn’t...
