The first 2 chargers almost look like handicap stalls but are labeled only as EV parking. I think they are intended for non Tesla charging due to the spacing. The other 46 are all back to back in a long row. The cords seem a little longer than normal too.
If the Kahala hotel was going to rent Teslas, they would need a couple hundred in order to justify a 12 stall 250 kW supercharging station. They don't have the demand or parking for that kind of infrastructure. Maybe 4 urban 72kW chargers and/or a bunch of level 2's. The reason a Supercharger...
The supercharger is in an area only valet are allowed to go. The bottom level is self park but does not connect to the upper valet area. Today's pic of parking rated.
Good luck getting valet to plug in right away so you can pay for only 20min. Don't forget the tip!
12 stalls. They look ready. 3 supercharger cabinets and the 1600 amp switchgear cabinet. Don't see a pad with transformer anywhere close by.
Located Basically behind the Del Taco, near the Love Store.
You HEARD? That's totally non-productive, like what's going on with this station.
What specifically do you know? Who at HECO, it's a big company? Are u following up on this?
Or are you just typing useless text for no reason?
It's been a YEAR since this supercharger was installed, yet no movement as of today. Is the hotel is refusing to work with tesla now and holding them hostage? Is this some kind of anti-EV hate situation? Are the people in charge really this lazy? Ignorant? Self serving? Who is to blame, and how...
I was kinda combining the 2 restaurants. The Raiders bar was a 20 minute wait, and the Vig didn't appeal at that time. Free 16amp chargers on 1st and casino levels were full. Ended up eating down the street at a tasty Greek place.
No transformer yet. Workers said it's 3-4 weeks away minimum before it's online. Confirmed 24 stalls. Too bad the buffet closed. Only an expensive steak restaurant was open, and a burger/sandwich place. Nice casino
Nothing has changed since February, 4 months ago. They have been sitting on this. Still no power. You can thank HECO and the hotel for the holdup. Probably be another year at this rate.
They said it should be on in 2-3 months. Very easy access off the highway as well as near the casino. But not covered so it will get hot vs in the covered garage. Will be easy to spot as you drive by. As close as handicapped parking!
This station is open. It's easy to navigate, but weird since it's surrounded by semi parking in the Platinum parking lot. And you are basically in a fenced off looking area.
Since The Boring Company stores their Teslas next to it, it's apparently intended for their convenience, but it's still...
Don't forget, nothing like paying $0.60 per kW. Highest of any supercharger in the USA.
If you're going to pay for supercharging, You're better off with an ICE car in Hawaii! Cheaper and no wait. Do the math.
The Sony Open is going on this week at the hotel, and Jan->March is high season. There are many tourists at the Kahala Hotel during this time. Since they have to shut the power off to the hotel to do the remaining electrical work, I doubt that this will see any movement until April or May.
It will be part of the tesla supercharger network. Most likely there won't be an idle charge fee due to valet having control over charging. Boy the hotel AND Tesla wants people to charge there.
This station just happened to get thru the permitting process quicker than the other 3 or 4 planned...
The majority of the Oahu electrical work is complete. The 2 holdups are the Heco 1.5Meg transformer, and upgrade/work of wherever the power is coming from (back down behind the hotel).
This is a REAL 250kW supercharger, not limited to 500Amps total like Pearl City one. But the main problem will...
I have heard this has been an issue with owners: Owners accruing idle fees because the valet didn't unplug. One owner had to pay big $$ for overnight, but then Tesla credited it back.
Since this is Hawaii, and Kahala Hotel is already planning to lock Tesla owners out unless they Valet $$...
Seems to be coming along quickly, compared to regular Hawaii speed (super slow and screwed up). They have placed the Superchargers in the parking spots, and they are locating the enclosures. They dug holes and put in conduits underground, and just covered those up with concrete. There are steel...
Each cabinet of 3 chargers shares power. 1A,1B,1C. it sucks but its better than before, which was nothing. There is a wait during the day, and its displayed on the cars display: short, medium, long wait.
