Is there anyone who drives the Tesla 3 Standard Rear-Wheel Drive in winter conditions such as in the Prairie Provinces of Canada or the US States like

Just want to clarify that there is no PTC heater in cars with the heat pump, so it does in fact work below 15°F. The heat pump can pull energy from outside, batteries, and drive units. When needed, the car sends a lot of power through the drive units to create additional heat, which the heat...

    Problem viewing Camera from Phone

I have done this a few times. When premium connectivity expires, you have to re-enable the remote viewing function in the Teslas settings. So you likely need to go into the cars settings and turn that back on. EDIT: to be clear, you need to turn the setting back on when you resubscribe to...

Wind/road noise from doors/windows -- fix it for good

I’ve only had mine on for a couple weeks. But I do remember that when I was installing it, the adhesive didn’t seem to want to stick. I also cleaned the seals with alcohol beforehand. I decided to force it in place and the leave the window closed on it for at least a day before trying to roll...

Model 3 delivery: My Existing inventory Car sold as new, but I don't think it is new

If it makes you feel any better, my new M3 came with mileage over the stated 15 on the MVPA (cant remember exactly what it was, it was no more than 50 though). But as someone who purchased using a certified check I can tell you I accepted delivery in the app before they had any time to process...

Wind/road noise from doors/windows -- fix it for good

I got 10ft and it was the perfect amount for both driver and passenger windows. Take a look at the pictures from Den’s post not too far up. He shows where the seal is placed, if you go look close at your own seals, you’ll quickly understand what to do.

Wind/road noise from doors/windows -- fix it for good

Just wanted to drop in and thank @Zen_3! I followed his input to put those D shaped seals all the way around the front windows and the noise went away completely. I also noted the noise coming from that top corner area before, slightly touching the window while driving would change the pitch...

Picture of OEM black license plate on your model 3

@Rohhee, not sure if you did it on purpose for your own reasons, but those tabs on top are designed to go behind the actual plate. It's a pain to fit it sometimes, but looks nice and clean.

What is the best way to change my calipers to red?

That is a valid concern. It’s been a while so I forget what the working time was and how many coats I did. I was lucky because I had bought new rotors and painted them before installing.

Whistling noise from driver's side window area

I have found this to be the exact case for myself as well. The downside for lowering the window ever so slightly is it causes more squeaks with bumps, at least in my case. Glad to hear they were able to remedy this, I think I will be submitting a service request for it in the near future.

    Young Driver Restrictions

Oh, that's interesting. When I had the overnight test drive, the car had the 85mph limit but didnt limit the acceleration. This could be a special setup for the demo cars. The wording in the document doesnt clearly state if it is limited to Chill mode, just that it automatically sets it when...

    Keep phantom drain under control

I bought my car in July and have been using TeslaFi since about a week after taking delivery. I tried a couple of the other apps as well but I'm on the nerdy side and like all the raw data that can be accessed. I was also concerned about this preventing a normal sleep schedule, but I have never...

    Young Driver Restrictions

You can definitely set a speed limit (under the Safety settings I think). I'm not sure if there is any way to limit the car to Chill mode though, it would be smart for this kind of use case.
  13. O

    Keep phantom drain under control

This might be down to how this is translated (as you mentioned) but after googling Tesla Standby, there is an actual setting for this, and is not the same as the car sleeping. It seems to be related to the FSD/EAP summon feature as others mentioned, which you said you don't have. I'm wondering...

    Tesery CCS1 Adapter now selling!

Uh, that would make those even worse. A device that has a current rating well under the current draw of the system (without a way to tell it to turn down) is dumb. I haven’t seen videos of these pulling over 150kw so I can’t say it’s even true. My Tesla CCS adapter has pulled over 200kw.
  15. O

    Tesery CCS1 Adapter now selling!

Just keep in mind that these two chargers are rated for 150kW (they have a typo with kWh, which is not the same) whereas the Tesla made ones are rated to 250kW. These may work great, just worth noting you wont hit the peak charge rates above 150kW.

Tesla We Need On Demand Preconditioning

I might be totally missing something here, but the Model 3 does exactly this. Turn on climate in the app and it preconditions the cabin and battery when needed.

    Insufficient grounding with metal conduit

I am working through some issues with charging via 120v at my apartment as well. Originally I would get occasional grounding errors when the temp outside dropped below 50°F. Now I get additional "unable to charge" errors every time. I know its not my UMC as it works fine at other locations...

    My Condo EV charging station...

For what its worth, I charge with 113v at 9amps daily (dedicated garage at apartment) and consistently show 80% efficiency with TeslaFi. I am not sure how well that is measured, just thought I'd throw it out there. I drive 15mi/day for work so i finish charging every evening, weekends I'll use...

    Older "new" winter tires performance

Hey Everyone, just thought I would get some opinions about some tires I just received. I had been looking for winter tires for a while and finally bit the bullet when Tire Rack had the Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 on a steep discount (40% off). I triple checked the listing and nothing was...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

For a comparison in the Chicagoland area, my closest EA station is $0.43/kwh and the nearest supercharger is $0.40/kwh. Superchargers vary by price quite a bit out here, some with kwh and others with per-minute pricing.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I went to test my new adapter at an EA charger and it said something like "this one is on us." I figured it was a random freebie, but maybe not? What's going on with them being free at the moment?

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Thanks for the heads up! Ordered! I was debating pre-ordering the adapter from Lectron but was hesitant due to the issues with their other adapter.

    Procedures for Paying Cash

Just another data point here. I contacted my location and asked about a cashiers check at delivery and said it was okay. They had the car waiting and unlocked for me to inspect before hitting "accept delivery" in the app and handing over the check.

    Sudden Autopilot Max Speed Reduction

When it happened I made sure to look to the screen immediately and saw it still recognized the speed limit as 70mph, but the Max Speed dropped to 40/45mph (honestly not sure if it was 40 or 45 at this point). Once I hit the gas the max speed would rise again to whatever speed I reacted at (for...

    Sudden Autopilot Max Speed Reduction

Interesting, so it seems the car may default to using the database information even though the camera has picked up the speed limit signs correctly. It's not a trip I make frequently but I will definitely keep it in mind when I go that way again.
  29. O

    Sudden Autopilot Max Speed Reduction

Over the weekend I drove a fair amount of mainly highway and used autopilot nearly the whole time. During the first trip and on the second leg (after stopping to supercharge) the car had a few instances of sudden reduction in Max Speed as indicated on the display. I know phantom braking is an...

What is the best way to change my calipers to red?

I used this G2 caliper paint on my corvette. I was able to paint new calipers since I was already replacing them, but if you are able to clean the current ones very well I imagine it will be just as good. After a couple years I sold the car and the paint still looked as good as new...

Does anyone have data on how quickly their Black Model 3 cools while in the sun >80F?

Yeah that's a bummer and something's obviously wrong. I do have tint all around (not on roof though), but it wouldn't make too much of a difference on cool down times.

Does anyone have data on how quickly their Black Model 3 cools while in the sun >80F?

I agree that these conditions don't seem extreme enough to cause your slow cool down.
  34. O

Does anyone have data on how quickly their Black Model 3 cools while in the sun >80F?

I've wondered this myself, never enough to test it though. I want to say if you use the app it defaults to automatic, loosely based on remembering one time i had it set to A/C off before using it. I could be totally wrong though.

Does anyone have data on how quickly their Black Model 3 cools while in the sun >80F?

A little more context might help, what was the outdoor temperature and conditions like (sunny, overcast, etc)? I live in Illinois and when its very sunny and in the 90s, it will get to 135+°F inside, but I feel like 5-7 minutes is typically what it takes to get down to 70°F. I have a 2022 with...

    2020 Model 3 - Mudflaps

I also got the Tesbros mud flaps because they come with PPF. I've only had them for about a week now but they attach very quickly, it will come down to how picky you are about applying the PPF which gets covered by the mud flap anyways. Barring any early failures or something, I would definitely...

    Illinois rebate program

Anyone know how long it takes to get the Illinois registration back from the state? That's the last item I need before I can send in my packet. Model 3 delivered with 75 foot-pounds lug-nut torque [Update: 75 ft lbs to loosen, not tighten]

Figured I'd add another data point. Because I saw this thread, I checked the torque on my new M3LR a couple days after delivery. Every lug nut required decent tightening to the spec'd 129 lb-ft. I didn't try any break free torques cuz that's pretty unreliable anyways, but having raced for years...

    2022 Frunk Weather Stripping

Picked up my 2022 M3LR (July build) this week and noticed weather stripping under the frunk that I haven’t seen in pictures before. Have these been included for a while now or are they pretty new? Do we think they are to help prevent water from getting to the air filter?

Battery Confusion [ Lithium ion 12v Vs HV battery]

I believe the part of the window sticker you’re referring to is actually talking about having a lithium ion battery for the low voltage system (to run 12v components). They updated that a little while ago. Since you have a long range, your high voltage battery is Lithium NMC. The standard range...

2022 Q2 production Model 3 missing matrix headlights?

I never said they stated it, I said they showed them. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough in my wording before, I just meant they have the configurator correctly setup for the Y to show the difference, so it’s kinda bogus if it’s not correct for the 3 as well.

Pretty solid round up, you could tell others (myself included) just shied away from this cuz there was a lot to go into... I do want to add one note though, earlier this year NHTSA did in fact approve adaptive headlights for the US market. It's now just a matter of OEM's putting them in cars...
