Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I actually have panels on the roof and waiting for a 10kwh battery later this year. The solar and battery charged at night should cover 95% of daily usage outside of EV charging.

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I think that Go/IO already incentivise load shifting. That said, with our house (2 fridge-freezers, 2 kids), getting load to around 400w would be a challenge! When I work from home, the load is around 350-450watts, but when the teenager get home and fires up his TV and PS5, it jumps to around...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I switched to IO a few days ago. So far so good. Nice to have 6 hours of cheap rate for other appliances.

Climate after exiting stays on for hours

Cheers. I’ll do that. I was just curious to know if I’d missed something. It doesn’t happen all the time but it is quite frequent.

Climate after exiting stays on for hours

    No, it’s not on.

Climate after exiting stays on for hours

Hi all, We have an odd issue with our MY. The climate (fans) seems to stay on even after leaving the car. The mirrors are folded and the car toots to say it’s locked. A while later, when going back to the car, it’s still locked but the fans are roaring. The only way to prevent this occurring...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I'm thinking of switching from GoFaster to Intelligent Octopus. I've read somethings about battery drain with API polling, etc. What are your experiences with it?
  8. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I have solar panels but not connected as I wait for a battery install. We also have a combi boiler.
  9. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Electricity I’m not so worried about. It’s going to be the gas costs that are going to be brutal over winter.

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

I also agree with the conversations around suspension. It seems almost like it has a life of its own. It is a firm ride, but it's a bloody heavy car with immediate steering and incredible acceleration. It needs to stay on the road! It does tend to crash a bit over pot holes but it's not bad...

We have "Easy Entry" the default profile and then we just tap and choose and let the car adjust.

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

We were in a little town next to Portsmouth with only two super chargers covering the entire town. However I know that 24% would have gotten us to the super chargers at Winchester. I was being very conservative and didn’t want to run out of battery 😂 I have the basic autopilot which is TACC...

I put up a fairly long post with pictures of my Q3 collection experience and weekend with the car here if anyone is interested or wants to compare notes!

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

I'll add to the growing library of experiences of the pick-up and my first weekend of ownership of the MY (also my first EV) I booked a one way ticket to Birmingham Central, and then onto Birmingham International. On exiting the station, I got a bit confused in the NEC and had to ask for...

I'm sure you'll be fine. Just take the skyway from the train station to Hall 16 which is the big white tent structure outside.

😂 I’ve been anxiously watching people in their cars when they park really close in car parks. I might have also used sentry mode to watch. 😂

    Model Y UK Delivery

I felt exactly the same and I’m not the worlds most confident driver but by the time I was out of the NEC, I was fine. One pedal driving is wonderful. The car tells you what to do. 540 miles since pick up on Thursday 😁

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

First scheduled charge last night and now the savings are really kicking in. Saved £8 by charging at the cheap rate. Cost just over a pound to go from 65% to 90% (long trip today)

    Model Y UK Delivery

Just back from collection at the NEC and I can only echo what others have said; the car is stunning. Other than getting lost in the NEC for a short while (tip if arriving by train, head to hall 16 via the skyway, don't go outside first). Check in was quick and easy. Just showed them my...

I'm on the train heading towards the NEC, I'm both nervous and excited. The day that felt would never come, finally did.

Excited to pick up the car from the NEC on Thursday, although Avanti West Coast have cancelled the train from Birmingham Central to Birmingham International (NEC). I guess this journey can be done in a taxi?

New rates announced: I cannot see the Go tariff being adjusted given these prices.
  26. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

That box is confusing. The 37p is the standing charge. The “dynamic rate” means the 40p/7.5p rate. You have the correct rate, don’t worry.
  27. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Agree. The averaged rate is 29p or there abouts.

My car disappeared a day or two after I paid ALD the advance payment. I also got the £200 back.

    Model Y insurance high?

I had that a good few times. I hope in a few months the industry catches up that the Model Y exists and it isn't 5000bhp. It could be worse, a friend is due to pick up an MG4 in 10 days but no insurer has the car on their systems and said to try again on collection day.

    Model Y insurance high?

A good point. A lot of quote portals now ask for your drivers license number and they can pull convictions from DVLA automatically.

    Powerwall versus Givenergy batteries

It's hard to give specific advice but a 7kWh battery is on the small size. It'll be fine in summer but I still think you'd draw a bit from the grid in winter. I know that Nigel (EV Puzzle - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5X6RyBSb7FiRJ6SOummZYw) went through a similar calculation and held out...
  32. MattM76

    Powerwall versus Givenergy batteries

Not a lot more to add other than I was quoted for a Givenergy inverter and 9kWh battery in July but it looks like I may have to accept a switch to Growatt as they just can't source the batteries right now. They said they had nothing for a month or so but are now getting 80% of orders from...

The MY looks so good in black. Can't wait to get mine on the 22nd!
  34. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Completely agree. If you charge a car often or have a home battery then Go is a very sensible option that will save you money.
  35. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

My guess is nothing. Hasn't the day rate always been a bit above the SRV to encourage the 4 hour window? The 40p was set when SRV was around 29p. The cap increase in October was going to be reviewed by Octopus and several support agents mentioned increases to me. I suspect they will just leave...

Ugh, that's rotten luck. Fingers crossed for a cancellation!
  37. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

My experience of using Go for a week or so at 40p peak / 7.5p off peak (just switched to Go Faster at 8.25) is that based on the capped variable tariff of 29p, I'm paying between 2 and 10% more using Go right now. We run the dishwasher/tumble drier/washing machine at 1am once a night but...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

There’s an app called Octopus Watch on Apple and android. You can log in with your octopus API details and it gives you daily billing accurate for Go and how much you’re saving compared to their flexible rate (spoiler not much right now until the car comes) Here’s how expensive a hot tub is to...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

If you have an in home display for your meter, it’s likely not showing the correct tariff. You can ask Octopus to push the correct tariff but there was some discussion about how it’s not entirely accurate on the IHD. Ours is still showing the price cap which is too high at night and too low...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

That’s fair. I have two kids, one of whom is a teenager and teenagers are like a plague of locusts on a households resources.
  41. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

There are no exit fees with Go, so if something better comes along you can switch it out. Also the most optimistic scenario is a fix on Octobers prices throughout winter and beyond and this lasting for a while to pay back what the government cover when gas prices drop.
  42. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

I switched to Go Faster today. 5 hours of sweet sweet off peak rate.
  43. MattM76

Same issue with gas here. Not a huge concern as you said, although loop and the ivie buddy can read the gas every 30 mins.

Prices for Go will rise in October. I’d fix again now and get another year.
  46. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

They recently added the "must have an EV" as a T&C so I guess some are taking it literally. I explained I wanted to switch a month ahead so we had time to sort any issues such as meters out before the car came and she was fine with that.
  47. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Phoned up Octopus and got a link to switch to Go Faster (8.25p/kWh) for 5 hours starting 10:30 until 3:30. We can keep an eye on washing/drying and run our portable air-conditioner in the bedroom before sleep in summer and the 5 hours gives us more time to charge the car and our solar batteries...

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Yes, but having one on order is fine too. They may ask for your Tesla RN, but I wasn't asked.
  49. MattM76

Octopus Energy, including Intelligent and go

Nice, was the link to switch to Go Faster unique to your account? I was thinking of switching to it to get the extra hour and bringing it back to 9:30 when we're more likely to do a wash/dry before bed and schedule and extra one in during the night.
