Was that for track or autox?

The quest for wider wheels and tires, 295, 305 and beyond...

I'll throw thus out fir the discussion... Stock classes have max rim width criteria, so it's not uncommon to see them with comically wider tires than rims. I would think they've been there, done that, with finding what works and what doesn't over the decades (ES miata) The fact that the keep...

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

This upcoming tour at Crows should be a bit better. Good drivers in AS and Navid will be a good driver to watch to see how the car does in class, don't know about the other 2. Dallas, with all his custom SSB suspension bits, will be in XA with his wife. I'll be in there too, since running...

    wedsport 18x9.5?

You'll need/want to get spacers. 20mm f/ 25mm r probably. The barrel may or may not fit otherwise.

I have a 2022 model 3 dual motor. At 8k I had tires rotated. Yesterday took car in to have tires rotated again at 17k do I need to have an alignment?

Lol. The only adjustments to camber and caster is playing with the slop/stacking tolerances. Which is exactly what the manual shows, and is very minimal. To get any meaningful camber or caster changes, you'll need to go to the aftermarket for solutions.

Pic request: 245/40/19 or 265/35/19 on Rays gramlights 57DR

265/35/19 is pretty much perfect fir a 9.5 wheel. 245/45 does have a bit if stretch. And don't worry about range loss between the two. It's minimal based strictly by those tire sizes. I had 265/35/19 PS4S on my car for 35k miles, and the efficiency hasn't really changed at all going to 245/40 ECS2.

What does it take to balance tires ONCE?

Good tire guys recognize when you have good quality wheels and a good quality tire mfr, you shouldt have that much weight to balance.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

I'd just race in AS. If you start winning a bunch at the regional level, someone may start to have an issue, but it's not likely to be the case. The cars not that competitive in AS. It really once you start doing national tour type event that someone will, but then the car really won't be...

    is TACC speed dynamic?

Ok, I'm gonna blow your mind with this one...... hold on..... here is comes.... You know you can actually move your foot an inch or two and actually push the pedal while using cruise control? Then when you've overtaken the vehicle, take your foot off the pedal and it will contine at whatever...

    Acceleration Boost and Insurance?

Do you tell them when you put new wheels on the car? How about if you put tint, coilovers, stereo, turbo, or any number of mods on a car. It's no different.
  15. T

    Acceleration Boost and Insurance?

There is absolutely zero reason to tell them. None. Insurance goes off the cars VIN. Anything you tell them can only be held against you.

What's the difference between 'style' variations of tires on Tire Rack?

I would NOT go with Tesla spec because of the acoustic foam. It does nothing for you, doesn't quiet the tire down and has a tendency to come loose causing more issues. Just get the regular PS4S like many thousands of people before you. You're just throwing money away with the other.

    Raceland Coilovers

Raceland. The Hi-Point of the suspension industry. Do they suspend your car? Yes Do they have Springs and adjustable perches? Yes Do they.... well, can't think of any other positive remarks about them.
  19. T

    Highland coilovers

I would guess UP will likely have options available first. They seem to have a direct IN with Tesla, and may already have or had a Highland to use for development. With that said, my experience with other manufacturers and the aftermarket says they are probably under an NDA and cant anything...

Sidewall delamination on 2021 Model 3 Tire

That is only caused by driving on a flat tire. That one's all on you bud.
  21. T

Sidewall delamination on 2021 Model 3 Tire

Post up pictures, but with that milage, I'm going to say it's normal. It's not a tire issue, it's an alignment issue. You'd be doing yourself a favor by getting an alignment at a tire shop, NOT TESLA. Have them set the toe, front and rear to 0.1- 0.3 deg toe IN.

    Perceptions

While there is a bunch of mis-information out there a regarding EVs as noted above, it's also the govt (not just the US) trying to shove EVs down your throat and force you to buy one.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Do it. I'm in talks to drive a certain white one in AZ though. As of now I'm planning on running AZ, Crows, Springs Nats, Packwood, and Nats again. So maybe ill see you again at some of those.

    2019 M3 Performance - Alignment Specs?

Assuming you're on stock suspension... Camber isnt adjustable, BUT, as much negative camber as he can get. He should know what to do. 0.1 toe IN front and rear. Caster is what it is, no adjustment.

Replacing 20" Uberturbines for 19-inch Rotiform LAS-R Wheels & AeroDiscs on '22 Model 3 Performance

You might want to list individual wheel weights rather that combined weights of Wheel/tire. Otherwise you'll always be comparing apples to oranges. Edit: yuck. Those are heavy fully cast wheels. Thats about the same wheel weight as the UTs. You'd do much better looking at flow-formed, or if...

    Lifted Model 3 questions

After looking into this more, I'd definitely go with the MPP kit. To add to your questions though... The model 3 OEM suspension has its issues, and I keep hearing part of it is because it's riding at or near the bumpstops. Would raising it up in this fashion let the OEM shocks work as they...

    Lifted Model 3 questions

I'd call MPP and see what they suggest. They'll tell you what other parts may be of use in that application too. I'd get the aluminum skidplates in the meantime. Maybe some RallyArmor mud flaps, some off road tires... complete the rally looks. Something along the lines of the Porsche 911 Dakar...

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

What the hell you yammering on about?? I never said that.
  30. T

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

Lol. There is absolutely zero reason to get adjustable camber arms on an otherwise stock car.
  31. T

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

Not at all. I'm saying your toe settings are what kills tires. NOT Camber. You likely have some toe out.
  32. T

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

Toe is what kills tires, not camber.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

I think it's also clubs where all runs count. I know if all runs counted in my region, I'd consistently place higher than I do.

    Evannex coilovers?

Largely, if it's not based on a large supplier like KW, Bilstein, Ohlins, or dare i say Tein (not a fan personally), I'd stay away.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

For XA at Nats, 5 out of the 6 EVX entries would have placed between the existing 5th -8th placed finishers in XA. What would a 10/10ths M3P even look like? 315s? 335s? How much aero? Maybe throw in a LSD? I guess we'll see what the AZ tour looks like the end of Feb. I may be down there to...

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

Never heard that the heat pump has ever been an issue. Starting in 22 I believe, they use 2x paned glass in the front to make it quieter. Heard the Highland has 2x paid glass front and rear now. The range issue is strictly because of the wheel/tire combo on the P vs the LR. The P and the LR...

Should I keep or trade in my 2018 Tesla P3D for either a Model S (or when available a Highland Model 3)?

If a rough ride is your main gripe, just get a set of comfort coilovers from the company if your choice. There are plenty used sets available to lower the cost outlay. That will also renew your enjoyment of the car for a while. Continue to keep your money until something more deserving comes along.

Normal. Mine will come on randomly, but I've noticed it usually when the battery is cold.

    Bumpy

Swap out the crappy OEM shocks for Koni Yellows. Give the rears about 1 turn of adjustment before install. That will be an improvement, and about the best you'll be able to do without spending roughly $2k on a set of MPP comfort coilovers. Dealers wont touch it, and most general tire shops won't...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Im a glutton for punishment so I'll go ahead and say it... I think the M3 is an economy car. I've always said it's a Dodge Dart with tech and some cool party tricks. Its not any different than when the STi first came out. A utilitarian econobox with high performance, able to hit well above its...

    Koni Sport (yellow) installed!

It's stock springs, so stock ride height.
  43. T

    Koni Sport (yellow) installed!

Yep. I guess based on reviews here and from other sources, I'd probably just throw 3/4 to 1 turn of adjustment prior to install and deal with it. They'd only be on the car 3-4 mos out of the year anyway.
  44. T

    Koni Sport (yellow) installed!

So do you really have to remove the rears to adjust them? Or is there a way around that? Thinking about throwing a set on as my winter setup with stock springs.
  45. T

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Are both Red and Yellow Konis allowed in AS? EVX is as close to a stock class that I've ever dealt with.

Tesla service quoting me $1600 for tires.

That's what I've done for Tesla stuff. I had shipped some tires to them thru TireRack for the wife's X3. OEM are runflats. They looked for a spare on the car, then called and said it's against their policy to install if no spare is present. I said ang on 30min... I immediately put it on...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I don't think it's even an "IF" people are willing to buy the upgrade. It's more "can" they buy the upgrade. There is a vast difference in buying it at time of purchase and rolling it into the financing vs afterwards and what? Pay cash? Personal loan? Credit card? I think the take rate would be...

    Model 3 Highland winter tires

What specific tires are you looking at?
  49. T

Tesla service quoting me $1600 for tires.

Along those lines, Firestone won't work on Teslas. They also won't install non-runflat tires on a car that doesn't have a spare.
