That is not true anymore. I still have a 2015 Model S. AP1 will follow the car in front when lines disappear and when no car is there to follow, it will give a slight ping pong effect to basically warn the driver it needs help. It never gives up trying and always tries to stay smooth as possible.

That's interesting. My 2015 Model S (pre-credit card) seems to have that feature you want. I get out of the car, leave the door cracked open, radio/hvac stay on, car is put in park. But then I just get back in, hit the brake, shift and go. I carry my key fob with me all the time.

I like your idea of upgrading the battery if it dies. 057 Tech actually offers that service at their shop. You can upgrade your 70 to a P100D i believe. They have a whole diagram on upgrades on their site. No matter what, it'll still be way cheaper than a new car.
