used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

That is not true anymore. I still have a 2015 Model S. AP1 will follow the car in front when lines disappear and when no car is there to follow, it will give a slight ping pong effect to basically warn the driver it needs help. It never gives up trying and always tries to stay smooth as possible.

Autopilot is useless on non-highway roads.

I have a 2015 AP1 Model S. It is very strict on speed limits (+5mph max) on non-highway roads for auto steering, but not for Adaptive Cruise.

Love my sunroof, can’t get myself to upgrade

Oh no doubt about it. The EQS is the kinds of looks only mother could love. But I'm too old to give a hoot what others think about what I drive. I just want an EV that baths me in ultra luxury.

    wh/m - P100DL?

Wow 419 seems high to me. My 2015 Model S P90DL with 21" wheels has a lifetime average of 325-350 wh/m.

Love my sunroof, can’t get myself to upgrade

What's your thoughts on the EQS? She ain't pretty but has real leather, pano roof, USS, stalks, Apple Carplay and a really good range.

See if your city has any 2021+ Model S available to rent on Turo. Then you perform a long term test drive and compare your AP1 to the current AP.

2015 P90D sells for $42.5k on cars & bids, time to sell my P85D?

I would love those faster charge times, but my 2015 also has the free connectivity and sunroof that opens. I use that sunroof every time the sun is shining. Leaning towards Mercedes EQS for my next EV just for that reason alone.

2015 P90D sells for $42.5k on cars & bids, time to sell my P85D?

My 2015 P90D still blows away every car at a traffic light. How many new cars today can do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds? Not much more than existed in 2015. Just the other day a Challenger SRT floored it on a green light and was shocked that he couldn't shake me away. I was riding his tail for a...

    My experience upgrading to MCU2

Good decision to keep it a long time. Consumer Reports ranks 2017 as one of most reliable years for the Model S.

    My Tesla Model S Plaid

That's interesting. My 2015 Model S (pre-credit card) seems to have that feature you want. I get out of the car, leave the door cracked open, radio/hvac stay on, car is put in park. But then I just get back in, hit the brake, shift and go. I carry my key fob with me all the time.

    FSD Capabilities

I recommend watching the Dirty Tesla's excellent youtube channel. He does detailed and honest assessments of FSD capabilities. You can watch its performance in real time as he drives. His latest video takes you through downtown during rush hour in some city in Michigan.

Looking for advice for Model S 2015 or 2016 P90D

Are you from NC? You should check out 057 Tech in your state. They have an extended warranty programs for older Tesla's. They can plug a device into your car and actively monitor for future battery failures. They are a well known service tech on this forum and frequently post lots of details on...

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

I totally agree on your assessment with the tech side. I also noticed the Mercedes system stutter a bit when moving between menus and map navigation. I could live with that but the non-starter for me is the charging network and until NACS is available and Tesla opens up their superchargers, I'm...

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

Have you looked into Cars and Bids? I haven't sold a car myself since 2014, but I sold 2 on auction sites (ebay) and they always sold in 1 week. You can also sell here on this forum too.

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

What's your thoughts on the EQS, besides the obvious of being ugly? It seems to have all the best qualities of an S85D, such as hatch back, opening sunroof, great driver assistance, plus a very luxurious and quiet interior.

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

AP1 definitely has the ability to "scooch" left/right if another vehicle gets too close. My 2015 Model S does that. AP1's freeway flaws are overpasses, for which it beeps and asks you to take the wheel but doesn't phantom brake. It also doesn't like extreme rises and lows of highway, as it...

Third-party Tesla service centers in MA or NH?

This shop is great. I only have them service my 2015 Model S now. Super nice guys and sometimes you'll see Rich Rebuilds there just hanging out with the crew! You can see some of their service techs on his channel (talking about the Model X falcon wing door problems).

    Used Model S sweet spot?

I definitely get a bit more than expected! But the thin black paint bothers me more. Next time, I'm getting the full PPF. My hood and bumper are full of rock chips.

    Used Model S sweet spot?

Don't mind the non-one pedal mode. I've got a 2015 Model S and it's regen is still very strong as long as the battery is warm. It will bring the car down to 5MPH even on a fairly steep hill. Then I just flick on my adaptive cruise when a car is in front of me and it brings the car to a stop very...

    Used Model S sweet spot?

AP1 is still amazing to this day for highway driving. It stays dead center and operates so smoothly. Little to no phantom braking, and any odd moments are very predictable. Plus you can still set the level to 1 and be a total jackazz in stop and go traffic, plus go up to 90MPH. It actually gets...

Having second thoughts on picking up MYP

No problem! Here's what I would do in your situation. From November until say April 1st, charge the Tesla to 90% at a minimum once a week. Then for the rest of the year, charge to 80% at a minimum once a week. The phantom drain/preheating over the winter will cost you 10-20%. Hopefully, 140-150...

Having second thoughts on picking up MYP

Welcome to Boston, although it's going to be tough for you to adjust to our long winters! Especially for parking. It's already very difficult to find consistent street parking, but in the winter when the snow piles up, forget about it. It would be worth while renting a monthly garage parking to...

BMS-029 - Tesla Must Do Better

It appears those with high mileage have better luck with the old Model S. It's the ones that have low miles for its age that are getting the BMS errors. My guess is they sit too long, allowing moisture to corrode inside the battery packs. Where the high mileage ones heat up the battery enough to...

    Boston solution for curb rash

I second this endorsement. I've brought my Model S in twice for curb rash. They are super professional, fast turnaround time, and very reasonable in price. Not to mention, the wheels look like nothing ever happened. They told me Tesla is their number one vehicle by the numbers. Makes sense...

    Buying a 2017 Model S 75 - Newbie, need advice!

Price wise, I think you're getting a good deal, assuming the car is in good physical condition. I just did a national search for a 2017 S 75 with under 50K miles. Average price is between $35-40K. And all those were 1-owner no accident car fax. As far as supercharging goes, I've calculated at...

    New Battery or New Car?

I like your idea of upgrading the battery if it dies. 057 Tech actually offers that service at their shop. You can upgrade your 70 to a P100D i believe. They have a whole diagram on upgrades on their site. No matter what, it'll still be way cheaper than a new car.

Choose between 2015 Model S 85D Higher mileage vs low mileage 2015 Model S 90D.

Rule of thumb based on 057 Tech, a well known Tesla shop here in the forums, If the last digits of the VIN number are less than 70,000, you are at a higher risk of battery failure. After 70,000 Tesla made changes to the protection case around the battery packs which caused water intrusion and...

    Goodbye all; Good riddance Tesla

That is absolutely true, speaking from someone who's owned 2 high end Lexus (LS400, LS430) and now own a 2015 Model S. I still have much love for my old Lexus but my priorities have changed in life and Tesla meets those demands, even without the flawless fit finish of my old cars.

    Which car to buy? 2018 S or 2018 3

Definitely you can find better deals out there, if you're willing to expand your search nationally. Just found a 2018 S 75D. - 7,982 miles - 1-owner - Clean carfax Dealer's asking $45,957. But it's in NC.

    Goodbye all; Good riddance Tesla

Tom Moloughney from State of Charge and Kyle Connor from Out of Spec have both stated that Porsche greatly underrates their Taycan ranges and both have been able to get nearly 300 miles on the 93kwh pack. That would still be cutting it tight on your ski trip. But nonetheless, I really like the...

Model S and X air suspension reliability

I've got a 2015 Model S with air suspension and put 52,000 miles on it. The air components have been superbly reliable. However, the control arms, no so much. Please Help - 2014 MS Battery Replacement

Exactly, and if I was in his shoes, I would spend the money, ship my car to 057 and have an independent expert shop diagnose the battery to see what exactly kind of battery was installed. 2016 Model S Unlimited Supercharging Removed

Sorry to hear that major crappy news. I still think you bought an awesome car. I've owned a 2015 P90D for 4 years and put over 50,000 miles on it. It has been extremely reliable, with the only out of pocket repairs/maintenance include: 2 door handles (one broken by me) 2 12v batteries Suspension...

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Yeah the SC/CCS fiasco is now labeled "cablegate" for the reasons you describe. Gonna be interesting for sure. But that's the deal Tesla had to accept in order to receive funding from the feds. Let's hope we see rapid expansions of chargers with that new cash flow. Personally, I want to see...

Wife replacing BMW X3M40i - looking at Model Y or BMW iX3 - decision time!

I absolutely love the Audi fat Etron. It hits all the right marks for me except for range and no one-pedal driving. Both are major deal breakers for me. A shame because It's pretty, dead silent, smooth and fitted with high quality leather.

2013 Model S won't boot up or drive after parked overnight

Sorry to hear the massive headache you've received. Have you considered moving on from Tesla now that the charging networks are opening up to all EV's? I see there is a BMW dealership in Tallahassee. Kyle Connor from Out of Spec has been raving about the i7 being the quietest EV he's ever...
