State based EV road user charge (Overturned 18/10/23)

Think about it like this. They took our money illegally and want us to agree not to sue them if they are kind enough to give us our own money back. How about they just give our money back with a nice note to say they are sorry. We are all lucky enough to get our money back because a few...

State based EV road user charge (Overturned 18/10/23)

I finally received my refund entitlement letter today, just as the AFR posted an article about the governments chutzpuh in demanding an indemnity. If anyone is planning on refusing to sign the indemnity - I would be happy to join in the fight...

    Glass cover with RACV

As the cameras are on the windscreen Tesla need to calibrate the camera on the new windscreen. As someone who has had three windscreens replaced, O'Briens always say they can't fix it, and then Tesla does it. It just takes a few extra days to go through that process. ymmv.

Brake Regeneration - Low To Non-Existent (Aussie Site - Discussion)

Yes, legacy S. Has one profile set to no-regen. Despite setting my (separate) profile to maximum regen, the regen is basically non-existent. Completely unrelated scenario:- My Model Y had a flat tyre. The roadside assist installed a different size model 3 tyre (yes, separate issue, but...

Interesting video. Looks like driving below 0km was a pretty good idea for the first 55km

    Model Y HUD upgrade

Installed the Teslogic setup. Happy enough with it - use it mainly on long drives. Self installation was perhaps a 30 minute job, and I am not very good at these things!

Vendor Teslogic — Mobile Instrument Cluster for Tesla Model 3/Y

Received the app update (android). It took a minute to find the menu (manually swipe from the left-most menu). First impressions: Love the large-text on main screen option. Navigation still not working for me. (2022 LFP RHD Model Y)

Can I pair a spare Model S keyfob to a Model 3? Or are they different?

I am struggling to love the 'phone as key'/bluetooth - it's a bit hit and miss compared to the old model S fob. Particularly when opening the non-drivers door first. I feel a bit stupid when I try to open the door and it doesn't work first time. Especially when I am already doing hand...

Is it the passenger side in a RHD car? or is it on the always on the right hand side?

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

The reason is that the charging speed greatly reduces as the state of charge increases. So it may take 5 minutes to add 100km when charge is low, but if you are at 80% it may take 60 minutes to add that last 100km. You can charge for longer, it is just less efficient. (and not polite if you...

    Labor Electric Car FBT discount

This is actually smart design - it means there is an extra EV on the used car market. Going forwards there will be a bigger incentive to sell your car at the end of the lease and novate another new one. Those that can novate/package a new car will, and those that can't should get a lot of...

Thanks - just checked and my full MCU1 refund has also come through. Next up, let's get a refund for chargegate.

Have you had MCU1 issues? Some good news today.

I just entered the BSB in that field. Why it takes two months to ask for a bank account number and then two more months to send a refund is insulting.

    Suspension Failure

There's bad luck and there's bad design. Just search this forum re the steering control arm. Plenty of issues with it. Just replaced mine. This, the MCU & the door handles should all have been replaced (properly) by Tesla under warranty as defective in design. If third parties can be...

Another front suspension control arm failure

My car was making noises when turning full lock. See below for a picture. It appears to me that once the bushing wears a little, full lock means the arm rubs against the wheel bolt and slowly starts to weaken until it breaks.

There is a publicly available 2x HPWC destination charger at the Riversleigh in Bairnsdale also - this may be a better backup as closer to Lakes Entrance. I used it two weeks ago - worked perfectly.

I am hoping that they have been holding off on new superchargers until this is ready - and the floodgates are about to open on new AU superchargers V3 with CCS cables.

    Browser on V9 in Australia

Whilst a functional web browser would be nice, by all accounts the performance on older cars makes it next to useless anyway.

    ChargeFox EV charging Network

Big mistake with the locations chosen. Both near existing superchargers. Given that 90% of the long range EV's at the moment would be Tesla's - who is going to use them? Sure, build for the future, but if next to nobody uses them for three years, nobody is going to build any more in a hurry

    Supercharger Idle Fee

I think the formula needs a bit of tweaking to allow better for 2 and 4 bay chargers - if the formula kicked in at 51% rather than 50% things would be much less of a problem. The only AU sites that seem to be a problem are the ones at the Tesla service centres, and IMO that's mainly caused by...

Tesla announces eight-year warranty for Model S and Model X

This article:- Tesla announces eight-year warranty for Australia mentions "Existing owners are able to upgrade to an eight-year warranty, if they so choose. Until 30 March 2018, Tesla offered a four-year warranty." Somebody want to call and get a price for the upgrade, to save us all doing...

    Servicing in Australia

I do wonder what percentage of drive units are still being replaced. I'm on my second and just starting to hear the early stages of it deteriorating again. The replacements appear to be refurbished, so I'd hope they are not 15-20k after the 8yr warranty expires.

Soon to be a new Model S owner in Melbourne, suggestions?

    1) Spend extra time at the petrol station, soaking up the smell 2) Turn the radio off in your current vehicle, appreciate the noise and vibration 3) When driving on the freeways, stare straight ahead and make constant micro adjustments 4) Turn the radio back on and listen to the advertisements...

Service and Delivery Centre - Alexandria NSW

Surprised they've only gone with 6 SC spots. It seems like SC's are getting bigger everywhere else in the world in preparation for model 3. 6 seems a little underdone for a service centre where Tesla owned cars tend to take up most of the spots

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Whilst Tesla might be able to build 7000 cars in a week, Tesla au won't be able to deliver at anywhere near that rate. A service centre would be doing well to deliver 30 a day. Say four service centres. 120 cars per day nationally. If there are 7000 reservations, that's two months between first...

    Save our CHAdeMO

From what I read, this charger hasn't worked in over 12 months. Only 291 cars sold last year in Australia that can't use the 'other' fast chargers. The EV movement need to pick their battles. I'm not sure entities thinking about putting in a chademo want to see their name dragged through the...

what's the latest on the milling sound (2017)

Just had my Nov 2014 drive unit replaced due to milling noise. I had tolerated it as long as possible. Received a refurbished Q motor, and the car is back to wonderful again.
