Curious to what you got from Vroom. I have 100K miles, typical scratches/dents for a 8 year old car, and their offer was 24K, which I though was low. I have not taken it to Carmax since I know they only wholesale cars over 100K, so their offer will be even lower.

You nailed it. I love the design of S, handling of RWD, prefer the cargo space + jumper seats for kids. It's been a great car for the last 8 years. I don't like SUVs, but need the cargo space at the moment. Honestly, I wish I had few more years to make this decision like you.

Yes, I did. I get his concerns, but I only use my S locally at this point, so lack of auto pilot, slow charging etc doesn't bother my anymore. If I can get a 4yr/50K warranty on a rebuild battery for 10-12K, I think I can live with those limitations. It's definitely not ideal but it's lot...

Mine is early 2014 build. They had some issues getting Maps to load after the upgrade but they resolved it. So far I don't have any issues, but it's only been few weeks.

So far no bubbles on the instrument cluster, but I hear you. At worst, I will lose few hundred over the current replacement price but who knows what the replacement price will be in the future :)

Because I don't see any value in spending additional money to upgrade the MCU in my pre AP car. I already have the LTE upgrade, so not really missing much. Also, I rather not lose the radio (FM/AM) functions.

Unfortunately, they said they would not cover the IC upgrade cost. I think because the screen replacement is half the cost of the IC upgrade. My car is pre auto pilot and I have already done an LTE upgrade, so I don't see a lot of value in putting in extra $$ in the MCU upgrade.

In theory I agree, but I am good with 50% deal considering I already had some bubbles in the screen. I love the car and plan to own it for a long time. So, I also want to maintain a good relationship with the local dealership, so that they are responsive in the future.

Yes, I complained about it. They said they lay the screen flat during repair so the liquid shifted. After I escalated the issue, they agreed to split the cost of the new screen with me. The center screen replacement now is around $780

I got my car back on the 5th day. The screen has been pretty responsive so far and the LTE seems to help streaming as well. I hope the screen wake time is reduced as well. Also, be aware that when they do this repair, any bubbles you have on the screen may get (lot) bigger due to the movement...

Tesla agreed to split the cost of the new screen with me. Kudos to them for resolving this quickly. Though it will cost me about $400 to replace the screen, I think the offer was fair considering the car is over 7 years old now. Still love this car!

Quick update. I got my car back after 5 days. However, when they replaced the chip, they introduced lots of bubbles in my screen. I am currently in talks with them to see what can be done. So far they are telling me that I would have to pay to replace the screen! I did have few small bubbles...

How long was your car in service? My '14 S has been in there for 4 days for the eMMC and LTE upgrade. They are having issue loading Maps/Navigation on the car according to the latest update.

Thanks for the info! They are reaching out their "internal" teams to see what needs to be done, so hoping they will do the steps above. My eMMC hadn't failed, but since I was doing the LTE upgrade it seemed like a "good" time to request the eMMC replacement. My navigation was working just fine...

I dropped off my '14 S 4 days ago to do the eMMC replacement and LTE upgrade. Service is still trying finish the the work and they say that they are having issues uploading Navigation/Maps to the car. Anyone have similar experience?

Ah, I didn't know. I was holding off on upgrading but this seems like a fair price now.

My pre autopilot 2014S needs an LTE upgrade and qualifies for the eMMC repair. Should I replace just the eMMC or do the full replacement? My screen has little bubble as well, so I think I should just get the new MCU at this point.

I think mine is on borrowed time in the 2014S, so hopefully something happens with this soon. It will be great to get Tesla to cover the cost of the repairs!

Not planning to sell the car ever.. but I ever to do it, I would sell it with a stipulation and liability waiver. I also have the original cross bar that can be reinstalled back.
