Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

Another happy customer here! Thank you Tony! Tuesday morning, got into my Tesla Model S P90D and the main screen was black with all the missing features (no HVAC, no radio, no Autopilot, no control of moon roof,...). Looked online and found this thread...contacted Tony and pulled the Tegra board...

After 2019.5.15 update my S location moved to 3500 Deer Creek

We have had this issue for months. We can't Summon the car, since it is "too far away...". Current version is: 2019.24.2 73fb1ab (Model S). Any news on this one?

    Supercharger - Fresno, CA (6709 N Riverside, LIVE 10 Jan 2016, 10 V2 stalls)

We stopped today with the Model S and Model 3. The Model S got ~95kWs and the Model 3 got ~33kWs. Tesla still claims "Reduced Service: Supercharger Temporarily Closed".

    Reset TPMS on Model 3

Accidentally selected the wrong wheel size when the TPMS reset dialog appeared (selected 19", for 18" wheels installed). Is there a way to reset the TPMS (like the Model S/X) without replacing the wheels (18" to 19"), driving 10 minutes over 15 MPH, and then replacing the wheels again (19" back...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

On the topic of companies working on Model 3 performance modification parts...here is a video of Mountain Pass Performance's trip to Northern California for a Model 3 meet-up and test rides at Alice's Restaurant in Woodside with their suspension prototypes. Good fun and a great group of...

I took a ride in the modified Model 3 with Mountain Pass Performance (MPP) prototype coilovers and...they feel great! The ride is compliant and a tad bit softer on the first hit compared to the stock suspension. The ride height is adjustable, and the Mountain Pass Performance team had it lowered...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Yes. I have most of the original parts (4 rotors, 4 calipers, left/rear pads). Both front pads and right rear are gone. I did make it clear that I wanted all parts back, but it was an honest mistake on Tesla's part. I will take some photos / video of those this weekend and share.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I have been busy at work and life. :) Watching my kid's high school robots Team 971 "Spartan Robotics" compete in the San Fransisco FIRST regional (videos) competition. Kinda proud. ;-) Ok...here is what I just posted on a YouTube comment in the brake video...

Towed to Tesla Service. Tesla has been great on reporting service status. I will do a full report near the end of the week when the service details settle down.

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Correct. I do notice a slightly softer first hit with these springs than the factory. Here is a great video from Teslanomics by Ben Sullins (Teslanomics | Decoding the Data Behind Tesla - Teslanomics) sharing more details about these springs with data:

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

This one is tough, since I had the jack still holding some pressure (under the jack mount location), and the wheel/tire (under the car for added safety) holding some pressure of the car...while the jack stand was under the lower suspension arm. So...don't read too much into this compression...

You are very welcome! Now...let's optimize the brake solution and find the next limiting factor on this car. This is a fun process to fine tune this car. This car reminds me of my '64 VW bug I bought in high school...and how I could change it, lower it, replace parts, personalize it,...let's...

Posted a video of the brake pads/rotors/pistons, here. Model 3 is getting towed to the Tesla service center tomorrow. I let Tesla know about the track day and shared the details, so they know as much as possible before I drop it off.

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

I put the regen on 'Low', instead of 'Standard' because I wanted to initially lower the possibility of power unit heating issues. My intent was to try 'Standard' later in the day, if 'Low' regen worked. However, I went in thinking this whole thing wasn't going to get past two laps anyway. So, I...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Grip and cornering onto an onramp is great! Basic driving around town and highway driving...also great! I like the 19" wheel sidewall height better than the limited time I had with the 18" Aero wheels. The rolling through turns with the weight of the Model 3 and the combination of the 18" Aero...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

I didn't notice. I could feel the brakes failing long before any light was needed. I don't think the brake warning came up during the track event. That alert you see during driving and parked in the garage is the low tire pressure icon. Below is zoomed in on the last few frames parking in the...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

The tire pressure warning was on at the start, since I lowered the tire pressure to ~33 front / ~35 rear psi from 45 psi. Yes, I have TPMS on all wheels. The tire pressure monitor warning seems to come on if the tire pressure is lower than 40 psi. For track days you need to lower the tire...

OMG, this is awesome! Thanks for spending the time to make these! The data was generated with RaceChrono Pro app and a Samsung Galaxy S8+ sitting in the charging area in the center console. GPS data isn't always the best with phones and these apps, so speed and the line are a little off here...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Yea, this was a slight issue on certain braking situations. The traction, e-braking, and regen handling was a little tricky, since I didn't really know what/when the traction or e-brake was going to kick in. At turn 11, when @OppositeLock passed me (Lotus), the car saw his car braking hard and...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Thanks! Obviously you know how bad the track conditions were yesterday. At least three cars destroyed into the walls. The turn 3 with a river running through it. It was not a day to push it...especially on the first session of the day at 40°F and a car not run before. Silly fun though! At...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

I was going to look for the fuse to pull later in the day, but as you can see...I didn't get to that test. It was good to leave everything on 'granny' mode, since the track wasn't really in great shape. At least three cars hit the wall yesterday with significant damage.

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Yes, the motor used for acceleration is also used for regen. The heat generation for the battery had been the question, since Model S/X have been an issue. However, today the Model 3 performed really well with respect to power and heat on the motor and battery. There is more to learn, but this...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Yea, these brakes should have lasted longer than 4-5 laps (video coming soon). I know that this was a track day and that I was on the brakes...but these brakes are not that great. I would love to share with Tesla what is left of the brakes after 4-5 laps on a track. Also, if a company has...

I wish I could have replaced the pads at the track, but I wasn't prepared for running the Model 3 today. Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

You're welcome! This was just a fun thing to try. The lack of brakes during the second half of the session was challenging, but this car has promise. Top speed on the video looks to be 109 MPH (175 KPH) entering turn 2. I think better conditions and maybe better tires, I could get 115 MPH (185...

Model 3 Track Day: Laguna Seca

Beautiful day here at Laguna Seca! The first session of the day had NO battery power limitations! Nine laps without slowing down! Yes! However, brakes are toasted...literally cooked. No brakes left after the 4th lap. Going into turn 2 at 103.9 MPH without brakes...not ideal. Here is a picture...
