Your story sounds exactly like mine and my son’s. Definitely should be covered because there was no way to know if our cabin cameras ever worked prior to FSD upgrade. I didn’t do anything either my bill was about $650 -

I keep postponing my appointment to have this issue fixed hoping this could be resolved and fixed under warranty. I am having this same problem with my 2017 Model 3. I had a FSD retrofit in October 2021. I can't remember when the warning (Cabin camera unavailable) first appeared but once it wouldn't let me use the FSD I called it in for service only to find out it wasn't covered under warranty. A quote...
