Well, I don't use enough electricity to confirm that. My battery exports at 5kW for2 hours. During that period, my house is usually using about 2 kW. I can say that all that the house needs is being supplied by the PW, with the rest of 5 kW being exported.

I don't think that is correct, you just get a retail usage credit, like you are NEM, for the electricity exported during your commited period. You would get CGS+ rates outside of those hours.

Nearly everyone joining the program is NEM. It isn't that good for CGS (which is why most installers poo poo it for new customers) unless you use all the electricity you discharge (for you, that would be 10KW for 2 hours) and export almost nothing, which most households can't do.

I believe that is what the $25 per month per 10 KWh daily discharge is sorta for.

I think the biggest question is what size the inverter is. If you only have a much less than 10 kW inverter, then that could be limiting the expected production during peak sun. If so, then find the cost to get a bigger inverter and compare the extra cost with the extra production.

I believe they still make both, and the main difference between them is that the plus has a solar inverter built in. So, if you don't need the inverter in the powerwall, you get the powerwall 2.

No, the new law states that for 2022, a battery storage must be a part of a solar system that you are installing (as has alway been the case). However, starting in 2023, stand alone battery installations can qualify on their own.

If you are adding PW's, be sure to wait until next year (knowing most installer pipelines, you prob have to anyway), because then they qualify for the 30% tax credit. With that credit, I would think that tips it in favor of the PW's. In addition, you might qualify for CA battery storage...
